Every morning, I would quickly take a shower and dress as usual.
Today, I decided to wear black white tights with a black skater dres with trim lace. A black belt with a bat placed in the middle of my waist. A black choke collar made of plastic and as well as my black Doc Martins. My pale skin and blue eyes spoke vibrantly through all the black attire. Even my black hair was straight and coexisted with everything I wear too.
The usual ride was our mom since we didn’t live very far from school. After school we were expected to walk home since she would be at work until around 5. No one else helped my mom out. Considering she was abandoned after my father died.
Miranda would be dropped off at ballet by the coach. Since she wasn’t able to get a ride from anyone else. That lasted until my mom was out of work. We all figured out how to make it possible. Since it was important for my mom to remain employed. Bills don’t pay themselves.
at it isn’t because I smell. People are just hateful to things that isn’t similar to themselves. As we all get dropped off at school. I always walked alone. Traveling through school wasn’t something I looked forward to. Every a student walked around me as if I were sick. People speeding up or slowing down to not get too close to me. The behavior never made sense. I walked the same as everyone else. I didn’t smell and I make sure to take a shower before school to ensure to myself that isn’t
My first class is Advanced Chemistry and it was my favorite class. I aspire to become something that deals with science daily. I haven’t figured out what exactly is out there for me, but science was the things that instreged me the most out of all subjects taught at school. English is second, everything is third, except gun class was my most hated class.
Having to go to gym and exercise was one thing. Having to change in the dressing room was the part I hated the most. I covered myself all the time and would consider myself modest. To have to change my clothes into shorts and a shirt never felt right to me. Especially in front of other people. Other girls who were always judging my body. I have a body similar to my mom’s. An hourglass shape that people only dream to have. The eyes that look at me when I’m changing for gym class have a sting of jealousy you could feel. Even the gym clothes fit me in a way that made me look womanly. Guys judge me on my appearance being so different. Though when I am in gym I get gawked at, which makes me just as umcomfortable.
I sit down in my seat, the most middle lap desk in the room with no partner. Ever. My intelligence isn’t needing for a lap partner and I would rather have it that way as well. But it didn’t make it less lonely. Also being in the perfect spot to be examined by the fellow peers, as if I were to be observed.
Plenty of space to settle all my belonging; a black backpack on the stool next to me, my school books on the desk and my utensils along side. Having the same as everyone else, yet others watched as I take my pencil out in disgust. Same number 2 as them. Me touching it was more of the problem then anything else.
“Welcome back, class. I would like to welcome a new student here today. He will be coming shortly but please welcome him with open arms.” Mr. Greenwood announced.
There hasn’t been a new student for awhile in the school. It usually big news. Everyone on the room was whispering to one another. Who the new student is and gossips surrounding him.
I can see girls freshing up their hair from them hearing it’s a guy. I just open my chemistry book to the new chapter we will be studying. Since we’re only in the beginning of October, I don’t have to flip too far into the book.
“Here he is,” the door opens and my eyes shoot up. My lungs almost collapse. I begin to panic since it really felt like I couldn’t breath. “Welcome, Anthony Sharp. He will be in this class with you guys.” The teacher is excited. Honestly, the whole class is excited. This being is the most handsome person I’ve ever laid eyes on. It was clear everyone else was thinking the same.
I close my eyes and shake my head trying to focus elsewhere. Then placing my eyes back down to my book. Felt like I could have been hypnotized suddenly if I looked any longer. His beautiful face looked like it had been carved by angels. His 5 o’clock shadow that made him look incredible older than the rest of us. Genetics treated him well. His brown hair style back, looks like he normally pushs his hair back with his fingers. His face sculptured with a handsome butt chin and sharp nose all in such a sexy manner. His face fit his name or the other way around.
I looked around the room as I saw the girls combing through their hair with their fingers so obviously. It makes me awkward even looking at them. They are practically drooling over him. Understandably, but it felt wrong to stare for the amount of time they are.
“Hey everyone, you can actually call me Tony.” He waved his hand up to greet everyone.
“Well, Tony, sit wherever there’s an open spot.” Mr. Greenwood gestures to all of the seats. You could tell he was very fond of the appearance of this new student of his. Especially by the way he was talking.
I glanced back down and was reading the chapter before the teacher had even begun teaching. I wanted to be ready to learn and make sure everything stuck in my head like glue.
I glance over to the boots of this new guy, Doc Martins. I took a quick note in my head since he was the first person I’ve seen in this school who ever dared to wear such shoes. His boots are more masculine than mine but they were black. Just as mine are. Then noticing his shoes aren’t moving any longer.
“Alright if I take this seat?” I look up to his face.
His grin so soft yet deep. His eyes a dark shade of brown. Unable to point out his pupils. The black leather jacket he has on pretty years old and has been used as his main source of warmth.
I move my backpack off the seat and onto the floor.
“Sorry, so used to putting it there.” I admitted quietly. It felt wrong to even talk to someone as handsome as him. The confidence beaming off of him seems unworthy to sit next to. Unfortunately, that was the only spot left to sit within the whole class.
“It’s alright.” He sits and places his books down. Carrying everything in his arms seemed to not bother him. He probably had to take make trips to his locker though. The books look brand new, unlike mine that had been used for years through the school’s system.
“Can’t believe he has to sit next to her.” A small voice is heard behind me.
“I know. He doesn’t deserve that.” The other girl says to the one next to her.
Sinking into my chair just a little deeper and bringing my face a little closer to my book. The comment so light seemed to cut deeper than the ones I read last night on the internet. Even I knew I was undeserving to sitting next to such a handsome man. To hear it from another was just painful.
Tony turned around to face the two girls behind us.
“Why would you say that?” His question didn’t seem like it was defending me. Sounds like he was curious and wanted to know why he should beware of me.
“Well, can’t you tell. She’s a freak.” Nothing new from what I’ve heard before.
Still sunk into my chair, trying to not pay attention to their conversation.
“A freak? How so?” He really wanted to get to the root of what was wrong with me.
“She dresses so different, she is into creepy shit. I even heard, she’s a witch or worships the devil or something”
I roll my eyes. People assume as they wish, I’ve never said such a thing. No one has ever even talked to me to get to know me so how would they ever know something like that. I’ve read plenty of fiction books associated with witches. Which made rumors go around that I think I’m a witch. My whole life, people take my interests and turn it into something else. Something totally untrue.
“She doesn’t look like a witch. Or seem like she worships the devil. She looks as normal as you.” My breathing stopped again and I looked up at the board in shock. Is this guy defending me? The two girls laugh nervously.
“She isn’t normal. And you can’t compare me to that thing.” You could tell she was insulted by what he had said.
“Yes she is. Everyone in this room is normal, including her.” He was done talking to them and turned himself back around to face the board.
The teacher began going through the chapter. Writing notes on the board for the students to write down in their notebooks. All about bonds. Covalent bonds. Glad to have read ahead, since I was heavily distracted within my thoughts. About Tony.
Never in my life has anyone defended me. Defended me against someone who was clearly being mean for no reason. Not only that, but he was the most attractive person I’ve ever met. How could I have been so luck to have someone like him sit next to me and treat me with more kindness than I’ve ever received in my whole life. Especially at school.
I couldn’t bring myself to look at him. My heart was pounding so hard. I might not be deserving of his presents but I was greatful for him. He made my day a whole lot brighter. I stood much higher in my chair and I felt invincible. No mean comment could bring me down today.
“Hi, I’m Tony.” His matured voice spoke to me. Facing towards him. The skin on his face had no sign of hormonal acne or a facial hair out of place. Well groomed and perfectly assembled.
“Hey. My name is Rebecca. People know me by Becca.”
He shook his head in acknowledgment.
“Which name would you be preferred to called?”
What? I’ve never been asked that before. I love my birth name, Rebecca. It seems more classic and professional.
“People always call be Becca, but I would love to be called Rebecca. Thanks for asking.” I smiled at him and he returned the same smile.
“Well, hello Rebecca. It’s nice to meet to you.” Shaking his head up and down once. I found it comforting that he didn’t want a hand shake. If he wanted to touch my hand I might die a little inside.
During the whole class, I thought about where he came from. Has my prayers been answered? Someone who is similar to me is finally here. He doesn’t dress as dark as me but his clothes weren’t anything normal at this school.
I wondered what kind of lab partner he will be. Hoping he will be able to catch up to my speed. If he needs help I wouldn’t mind helping. Just hope he’s as intelligent as he is handsome.
“Are you going to need help catching up? Since you’re new to the class.”
“Oh no. I’ll be fine,” He assured me. “I was here last Friday to collect all the materials to make sure I could catch up from what I’ve missed. I transferred from my old school a few weeks back and I’m only just a week behind. But if I have any questions I will make sure to ask for your help.” His left eye winked at me. Leaving me a bit breathless.
How have I been so fortunate to be to talk to this fine man sitting next to me. Or even the fact I felt confident enough to dare talk to him. The eyes around the room were still piercing at the both of us. I could feel it sting but I was too distracted by Tony. He made it so easy to get distracted.
During the whole class he asked me a few questions about myself as I did the same to him.
He lived in Tennessee and had just moved. His grandfather lives in this town and was forced to move without his say. I told him I’ve lived in the same house since the day I was born. We talked about siblings. He had one who he hasn’t seen in years, I told him about the 3 siblings I have. He didn’t talk about his parents but I opened up about having a mother and a father who had died not too long ago. His condolences for it seemed genuine and I felt comforted opening up to him.
We shared our love for science and he said he was debating on taking physics or chemistry and knew he would rather prefer the chemical aspect in chemistry and knew he would be more intrigued in this class instead. Also admitting he wasn’t stupid or lacked the ability to get school work done or wouldn’t be a good partner in the class.
“I have to be honest, I’m relieved that you won’t have a problem keeping up.”
“I’m worried you won’t be able to keep up.” He chuckles and grinned at me. Did he really think I wouldn’t be able to catch up with his?
“I guess we will have to just wait and see, I suppose.” Saying in a never nonchalant tone.
The air between us seem to be connecting and we were bonding. The atoms around as seemed attracted to one another and seem ready to connect. Physically he was the most attractive person I’ve ever met. The personality behind the beautiful man was even more amazing and I was ready to obsess about him every moment of the day.
How do these things work? When you have feelings for someone, how does it evolve. This is all new to me. Or am I overthinking all of this. He may just be playful and trying to make friends. My mind was twisting through thoughts of a wedding day and also the conflict of the friend zone. Not like I knew how either of those would happen. He was the first person I’ve ever got to know in the borders of school.
