Chapter 39 She Will Make You a Happy Man

Theodore recognized the intriguing beauty singing onstage. Her lazy and alry voice echoed through the bar, sing – the notes of the popular, melancholic pop hit “Young and Beautiful“,

Sitting on a stool, she looked all the more gorgeous under the spotlight. Her tresses swayed gently, and her flaming lips parted as her singing transported her audience back in time.

When the musical notes hit Theodore’s car, scenes of Gwen crying on the balcony flashed across his mind.

That night, she looked tearful in a frown. The fragility of her beauty took him by storm. Before he knew it, he was charmed and unable to peel his eyes off her. His mind started to wander,

Yara cried out from her seat, “Darling, that’s too emo! Let’s do a happy one!”

Gwen winked at her friend in the audience. “No problem. I’m onto it right now.”

She immediately performed “Les Champs–Elysées” with an animated smile on her lips, and she kicked her feet to the rhythm in a cheeky manner.

The adorable lyrics and casual music were healing and cheerful. The audience broke into a chorus with smiles, and the

atmosphere was great.

The song transported Theodore to the sycamore tree–lined streets in Fernweld. He could imagine himself holding

hands with Gwen on a stroll.

He was mesmerized by Gwen. Never had he met such a versatile and interesting woman with a beauty that spoke to his

soul.

A tiny voice echoed in his ears. “Theodore Quinn, she’s the one! She’s that charismatic woman you’ll fall in love with at first sight! She will make you a very happy man!”

The audience applauded Gwen after her song ended. Yara waved her arms wildly, yelling, “Babe, you’re the best!”

Judy, too, clapped for Gwen’s performance with a smile.

After Theodore gathered himself, he proceeded to greet Gwen, only to be interrupted by Jake, who staggered through the doors heavily drunk, Jake leaned on his back, his breath reeking of alcohol.

Jake, who was half–conscious, lifted his arm with difficulty and pointed a finger at Gwen on stage. He asked his friends, “Isn’t she hot? That’s my wife.”

With th

that, he lowered his head and fell asleep.

“Jake, what’s wrong with you, cheating on a hottie?” Theodore wiggled Jack’s shoulder to check if he was awake. “I would be over the moon if I had her as my wife.”

Shrugging off Jake’s remark as a joke, Theodore warned, “She’s my crush, so watch your mouth. Got it?”

Alas, Jake had passed out and missed Theodore’s words.

Theodore had not taken his eyes off Gwen at all. He decided against approaching her not with a drunk Jake in tow- as that might ruin his image. He helped Jake back to the bedroom instead.

After leaving Jake to Bradley and the rest, Theodore rushed out for his crush, but another singer replaced her onstage. He searched high and low for her, but she had left.

Fighting the strong desire to meet with Gwen, he hurriedly called his assistant, “I need to know where in Bellmont is

Gwen Lawson.”

The next morning, Gwen’s assistant entered her office. “Ms. Lawson, someone delivered a bouquet of 999 roses for you to the lobby. The sender specifically asked that you collect the delivery yourself.”

Gwen looked up. She couldn’t immediately think of anyone who would send her flowers.
