Chapter 46 To Recognize and Utilize Talent

Gwen sighed as she pulled out her phone to call Henry, who had just returned to Dornwick

Something felt off about the situation. Why would Theodore, the heir to Quinn Group in Dornwick, apply for a low- level position at her branch office in Bellmont City? It didn’t sit right with her. She decided to check with Henry.

The call connected.

“Hey, Gwen. What’s the matter?” Henry’s voice was firm but laced with warmth and affection..

Gwen glanced at Larry, who was standing awlowardly at the side. She lowered her voice and asked, “Henry, that guy, Theodore, is in Bellmont City. He even applied for a job in Savant Group’s investment project department. Did Quinn Group go bankrupt?”

Henry chuckled slightly. He knew how much Gwen disliked Theodore, and it was evident in her sharp tone whenever she spoke about him.

“No, they’re doing fine. Theodore was sent to Bellmont City by the chairman of Quinn Group. But I had no idea he applied for a job at Savant Group,” Henry replied.

“Got it. I’ll get rid of him, then.”

Henry persuaded her, “Gwen, hold on. You know how capable Theodore is. He’s an expert in venture capital. If he’s in your investment project department, your year–end profit statement will definitely impress your shareholders.” Hearing Henry’s advice, Gwen’s tone softened into a more playful tone that was reserved for close family. “But what if he brings up the marriage contract?”

“Your identity has never been made public. He has no idea you’re the fourth daughter of the Lawson family that he’s betrothed to. He wouldn’t even know unless you bring it up,” Henry reassured.

Sensing Gwen’s hesitation, Henry pushed further. “Savant Group’s Bellmont City branch needs someone like him right now. Are you really going to turn him away because of a temporary personal grudge?”

Henry’s words hit the mark Gwen knew that the success of Savant Group’s Bellmont City branch was her priority. She understood that recognizing and utilizing talent was essential to run a successful business.

Reluctantly, she hung up the phone. She cleared her throat and addressed Larry, who had been waiting silently at the side for further instructions, “We’re keeping the Theodore guy.”

The manager couldn’t hide his joy and showered her with flattery before leaving her office.

The next morning, Gwen heard whispers around the office when she arrived.

“That man is so good–looking!”

“So, it was him who’s been sending flowers for the past few days!”

Following the voices, Gwen was greeted by the sight of Theodore standing in a tailored suit with a massive bouquet of roses in his hands. He gazed at her affectionately and waved.

Gwen scoffed lightly. So, Theodore was the idiot who had been sending those flowers for the past few days. She had wrongly blamed her brother, Ryan.

She walked past him with a cold expression, ignoring him completely.

Theodore quickly jogged over to block her path. “Long time no see. Do you remember me?” he asked with a bright, sincere smile.

“No.”

“I made you laugh on the rooftop in Dornwick last time. You even wiped your tears with my handkerchief, remember?”

Theodore continued, undeterred by her coldness.

Gwen brushed her curled bangs as her patience thinned. “Please move out of the way, thanks.”

“I haven’t thanked you for the emerald bracelet incident yet.” Theodore handed the bouquet of roses to Gwen again with a shy expression.

Gwen’s expression darkened. She had hoped they could pretend not to know each other and avoid any contact at the company. However, she hadn’t anticipated Theodore to be so clingy. It was maddening.

She decided to assert her authority. She cast him a disdainful glance from head to toe, her gaze filled with hostility.” Are you an employee at Savant Group?

“Yes, today’s my official start day in the investment project department. Hello, boss,” Theodore replied with a cheerful attitude, oblivious to the storm that was brewing.

Gwen raised her wrist and pointed at her watch, her voice rising. “Do you see what time it is? Why aren’t you at work yet? And you’re blocking your boss in the hallway? Do you even want this job?

He had never seen a beautiful woman speak so loudly. Theodore swallowed hard, stunned by her outburst.

It seemed she had quite the temper.

Larry, who was waiting for the elevator, rushed over immediately upon seeing Theodore in trouble. He quickly tossed Theodore’s flowers into the trash can and dragged him up the emergency stairs. He was desperate to prevent the new hire from getting fired by the furious Gwen.

As she watched them leave, Gwen took a deep breath and walked toward the elevator.

The others who were waiting for the elevator also began heading for the emergency stairs. Gwen was left puzzled. What was going on with everyone?

Everyone was terrified, worried that their breathing might upset her. They had never seen their usually calm and pleasant boss raise her voice like that. Was it such a bad thing to receive flowers every morning?
