Chapter 49 Mr. Hall, Are You Afraid

“Ms. Lawson, you’re quite skilled at riding. Ashton complimented Gwen, his gaze sincere and free of any offense.

Gwen glanced briefly at Jake, who was at the side, before turning back to Ashton. “Mr. Duncan, may I speak to you in private?”

Quantum Corporation was a company focused on developing core technologies.

Over the past five years, they had produced countless innovative, intelligent bionic robots. They had gained widespread praise across various industries.

Their latest breakthrough with nanorobots was truly groundbreaking. It had the potential to solve numerous medical challenges that had remained unsolved throughout history.

This was exactly what Gwen had her sights on. She wanted to secure this collaboration after she took over her position in the company.

Jake’s dark eyes remained cold, his voice filled with displeasure as he said, “Quantum Corporation has already signed with Hall Group. What can’t be said openly?”

His gaze never left Gwen from the moment she rode over on her horse. He had been captivated, unable to look away.

Gwen had never ridden a horse in front of him, nor had she ever mentioned she could.

There were so many things about her that he still didn’t know.

The collaboration between Quantum Corporation and Hall Group was still in its confidential phase. Yet, she had found out so quickly and was already trying to intervene. It was clear that Bellmont’s business landscape was about to get even more complicated after this.

Gwen felt slightly surprised. She hadn’t expected the deal to be sealed so quickly. In just a few days, the two parties had already completed the signing.

Though she was a bit frustrated by her late timing, her expression remained composed. She exuded confidence as she asked, “Is there still a chance for Savant Group to join this project?”

Ashton smiled, his sharp eyes revealing nothing but his true thoughts. “Now that Quantum Corporation has secured funding from Hall Group, it would be inappropriate to bring in another investor.”

Gwen remained calm, as though she had anticipated his response. “Wouldn’t it be better to add another investor? It would upgrade the scale of the project and distribute the risks,” she continued to persuade.

“Savant Group’s medical research and technology would better support the practical application of nanorobots. Anyone truly invested in advancing this field wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to drive it forward,” she added, her voice steady.

Her eyes gleamed with confidence as she held Ashton’s deep gaze. “Mr. Duncan, I hope you’ll give it serious consideration.”

Ashton was moved but didn’t waver. He passed the decision to Jake. “Ms. Lawson, you truly are a skilled negotiator. I’m impressed, but this decision is no longer just mine. It also depends on Mr. Hall’s opinion.”

Gwen inwardly sneered. Ashton was indeed a shrewd businessman. From a business standpoint, there was no reason -to refuse to add another investor to expand the project’s scale..

However, given her highly publicized divorce from Jake, their business entanglements made things complicated. If Jake flat–out refused to cooperate, there was nothing Ashton could do.

It was better to direct the issue back to the former couple and see what they would come to terms with.

Jake lowered his gaze, his voice cold as he made his decision. “I disagree.”

“Why?” Gwen set her riding whip on a wicker chair and casually sat down.

“It’s unnecessary.” With that, Jake turned to leave.

“Mr. Hall, are you afraid?” Gwen’s calm but pointed challenge echoed behind him.

“That’s absurd. What would I be afraid of?” Jake froze in place but didn’t look back.

Gwen walked up to him with her lips curled into a smirk. “You’re afraid that Hall Group’s profits will be divided. You’re afraid that I’ll take a slice of your pie.

“It’s clearly an opportunity to maximize profits and reduce risks. Yet, it’s being dismissed because of your cowardice.” She turned to Ashton and asked, “Mr. Duncan, don’t you agree?”

Ashton smiled but stayed silent. He had no intention of getting involved in the rivalry between the former couple.

“Say what you want. Hall Group will never collaborate with Savant Group,” Jake said in an icy tone. His expression darkened like a storm about to break.

“Could it be that you still have feelings for me, Mr. Hall?” Gwen dropped a bombshell.
