Chapter 142

She

spun around and gazed at the man who had her firmly against his chest.

His face was cold and gloomy and his thin lips were tightly pursed.

His face was full of anger, showing that he had heard their conversations.

He assumed that she was about to leave with Dev, so he rushed out to stop them.

Having already done something so outrageous to her in front of Dev, why was Dev still holding onto her?

Scarlett lowered her gaze, her long eyelashes masking the complex emotions in her eyes.

Seeing that she did not resist, Sebastian's expression eased slightly, though his gaze remained cold as ice when he looked at

Dev.

"Mr. Gatsby actually wants to reclaim the trash I fiddled with. He truly has a deep feeling..."

,

Dev's anger was lit by the humiliating words.

Clenching his fists, he rushed forward and delivered a hard punch to Sebastian.

However, after suffering a serious injury at the back of his head and being caught in a rainstorm, Dev was no match for Sebastian Before Dev's fist could reach Sebastian, Sebastian swiftly raised his foot and kicked him, sending Dev tumbling to the ground. "Don't overestimate yourself!"

Sebastian raised his hand, flicking his sleeve arrogantly as he sneered at the man lying on the ground.

Scarlett's disappointment in Sebastian grew as he completely disregarded Dev's life.

With a cold face, she pushed Sebastian away and rushed over to Dev, squatting down to help him in getting up.

"Liam, how are you doing? Are you injured anywhere?"

Sebastian's eyes suddenly filled with hostility as he saw her worrying over another man.

He felt as though something important of him had been taken away, prompting an uncontrollable urge to reclaim it. "Come over here!"

He was not permitted to take it by force due to his cultivation and rationality.

He stood there, gazing down at the two enamored people on the ground.

He revealed an order, a warning with much pressure that would be punitive if not obeyed.

Scarlett gazed into those eyes, feeling an immense weariness and had no desire to come to him.

She was aware of his personality; if it had not been the same as he wished, he would not have allowed her and Dev to leave safely.

She has been under Sebastian's control for the past five years, so she didn't care much for herself, but Dev was injured and needed immediate treatment.

Scarlett sighed deeply. She helped Dev up and placed him on the sofa. She said gently to him, "Liam, just stay here. I'll sort it out and come back to you, okay?" Dey was unwilling to let her go back to Sebastian's side, yet when he heard that she would come with him, he couldn't help but breathed a sigh of relief. "Okay"

He nodded his head obediently, just as he had done when he was young. He had always believed and agreed to whatever she

said.

"Mr. Jackman," Scarlett smiled gently at him, "You must have heard what we said just now, right?" She then proceeded to

walk in front of Sebastian.

Sebastian pursed his thin lips, indicating he had heard it, but he said nothing, so Scarlett kept talking.

"We grew up together, we loved each other and we vowed to be together for a lifetime. Yet, I was so spoiled by him that I became willful and unruly. On the boulevard, I got so angry with him that I caused him to be hit by a car

"And all I could do was to sell myself to pay for his surgery. You know what happened afterwards. He lost his memory and his elder brother, so I misjudged him and, in a fit of anger, I signed the agreement with you."

Sebastian curtly cut her off mid-sentence. So, you're not going to come with me?"

Scarlett nodded. "That's right, I don't want to come with you. That's why I haven't spend your money in the past five years. I just don't want to owe you anything. Now that my Liam is back, the misunderstanding has been cleared. I want to return to his side and be with him. Mr. Jackman, can you let me go?"
