Chapter 109

“Win, have you reached home?” Joanna’s voice was soft and gentle.

Winston glanced toward the door and replied softly, “I’m home.”

“Could you please give me a ride to work tomorrow morning?” Joanna asked a little coquettishlywith

a hint of a smile.

Winston took a sip of water. “I’ll pick you up after work.”

He had to go to the cell the following morning.

“No, please take me to work and pick me up when I finish. We can have dinner together, alright?”

Joanna’s voice softened.

Winston lost his patience. “Joanna, don’t force me to do something I don’t want.”

There was a momentary silence on the other end of the phone, followed by her question. “Thenwhat would you like to do?”

Winston massaged his forehead, feeling irritated. “I’ll pick you up after work. I’m hanging up now.”

After that, he ended the call.

At that moment, a black Rolls–Royce was parked outside the private kitchen. Inside the car, Joannagripped her phone tightly, only to hear the beep, signaling the call was disconnected.

She couldn’t believe that Winston lied to her. He clearly took Millie to dinner and pretended to be at

home.

Joanna bit her lower lip, her eyes brimming with hatred. Millie was on the verge of divorcingWinston, but she was still holding onto him. It ignited an intense desire within Joanna to retaliateagainst Millie.

“Ms. Lowell, should we leave now?” Jeremy asked in a hushed tone.

Joanna clenched her fists, her heart pounding. “No!”

She wanted to see how long Winston would continue to reminisce with Millie.

“Ms. Lowell, it’s Millie!” Jeremy pointed toward the person coming out of the private kitchen.

Joanna looked toward the private kitchen. She took out her phone and planned to take a photo ofWinston seeing Millie off. Unexpectedly, Millie hailed a cab and left by herself.

“She left,” said Jeremy.

Joanna felt confused about why, she left by herself. “Follow her,” she shouted.

In the cab, Millie rubbed her forehead and leaned against the window, gazing at the view outside. As she exited the bathroom, she overheard the waiter discussing, “Do you think Ms. Lowell and Mr.Greer are better suited, or is Ms. Caldwell the better match?

“Of course it’s Ms. Lowell. Ms. Lowell and Mr. Greer make a perfect match!”

“Besides, it seems clear that Mr. Greer doesn’t love Ms. Caldwell. They’ve been married for manyyears, yet this is the first time he has brought her to eat here.”

Millie wanted to ignore their discussion and return to the private room. However, when she wasstanding outside the room, she heard Winston say, “I’m home.”

It was disgusting to lie to his unforgettable first love while eating with his wife. Millie instantly lost herappetite and opted to take a cab home.

She opened her Messenger chatroom with Winston on her phone. She had kept his contact nameas ” Win” for seven years.

She tried to add him to Messenger when it first launched, but he rejected her request repeatedly. He complained that she talked too much and sent too many messages.

His words made her angry, and she insisted that he add her, promising not to bother him.Reluctantly, he added her as a friend.

After much consideration, Millie decided to send him a message.

“Mr. Greer, thank you for the dinner. Unfortunately, I’m not feeling well, so I’ll be leaving now. Giventhe unique nature of our relationship, I’ve carefully considered this. We should maintain distance if itdoesn’t pertain to the divorce. There’s no need to reply.”

After saying that, Millie clicked on his profile. She then blocked the account that she used to want toadd the most.

Since they had broken up, they should sever their ties completely. They had already decided to geta divorce anyway, so there was no point in clinging to it anymore.

Winston had no feelings for her. He wouldn’t be sad about losing her. But she was different. Shewould be in immense pain from losing Winston.

Winston was waiting for Millie to return. Instead, he received a message from her. He wasconfused.

When he tried to respond to it, it didn’t go through. Then, a notification appeared, informing him thathe was no longer her friend.
