Millie pushed open the door to the lounge and found Winston sitting on the couch. He was wearinga black suit and reading a magazine with his long legs casually crossed. His presence exudedelegance and dignity, every movement exuding an air of nobility.

Millie knocked on the door and entered. Winston looked up and met Millie’s calm gaze.

“What’s up?” The flat and distant tone in her voice served as a constant reminder to Winston thattheir relationship had come to an end.

She showed great determination and dashing elegance when she decided to stop loving him. Still,Winston wondered if Millie was the one who saved him back then.

He pointed at the coffee table, and Millle suddenly noticed the divorce agreement lying there. “Millie,I’ve prepared a new divorce agreement. Taking into account our conversation last night, I’m willingto give you half of my assets.”

Millie was stunned. She saw the divorce agreement on the coffee table and picked it up. He hadalready signed it, just like the night they got married when he also handed her a signed divorceagreement. However, his attitude now was a bit friendlier than before.

“You’ve been taking care of Grandma and comforting my parents for the past few years. I feel badthat you even argued with your family because of me. So I plan to give you 10 percent of GreerGroup’s shares,” he said, pursing his lips and looking at Millie’s face.

Millie wasn’t surprised by the 10 percent shares. However, at that moment, she felt that perhaps itwould be easier if she were only interested in Winston’s money. Then, her heart wouldn’t ache.

what she truly longed for was something Winston couldn’t offer her–his love. Money meant nothingto Winston. As long as he was alive, he could continue to earn and make more money.

“I was just kidding about you giving me half of your assets, Winston. I don’t lack money at all.” Hedidn’t need to compensate her with money.

“I know you’re not short of money.” He simply wanted to feel at ease.

“Let’s use the previous divorce agreement.”

The divorce agreement was straightforward. It was only to dissolve the marriage between the twoparties. Winston was well aware of Millie’s stubbornness. When she said no, she meant it. Thistime,

He fiddled with the divorce agreement, opening and closing the folder. After a few times of doingthat, he looked at Millie and asked, “Are you free this afternoon? Let’s go to the courthouse to gothrough the divorce procedures.”

“Okay, I’ll take a leave.” Millie agreed without any hesitation.

Nevertheless, her decisiveness pained him deeply. Millie initially disagreed with their divorce, butshe

The lounge was small, with the air conditioner cooling the air. However, he still felt hot and stuffy.He couldn’t resist pulling at his tie and saying, “We can do it on your day ff.”

Millie sniffed, her hands behind her back and her finger twisting nervously. Her palms bore bruisesfrom her pinching herself. “Let’s do it at one in the afternoon,”

She was scared that something would happen if they delayed it again. Pointing outside, she saidwith a forced smile, “Then I’ll get back to work first.”

She turned toward the door. Winston frowned and called out in a low voice, “Millie…”

Millie stopped immediately and gazed at him. “Yes?”

Their tone was very calm, just like that of two old friends. Finally, they stopped arguing with eachother. She also learned to face his proposal for divorce calmly.

Everything seemed to be going according to his plan. Yet, why did he feel so heartbroken? Winstoncast a complex gaze at Millie.

She waited patiently for his response. But after a while, he just said, “Go ahead.”

Millie forced a smile and replied, “Okay.”
