Millie and Simon sat in the last row of the theater. Next to them sat a couple in their honeymoonphase.

“I know of an awesome rooftop restaurant. Shall we have dinner there?” Simon leaned closer to askfor Millie’s opinion.

She nodded. “Of course.”

Smiling, he remarked, “Great.”

She looked at Simon. He was so good to her, yet he didn’t make her heart flutter. Would it beinappropriate to lead him on?

Sighing, she tried to clear her mind and enjoy the movie. Halfway through, the atmosphere in thetheater changed as the scenes became progressively steamy.

To her surprise, she overheard the couple beside her kissing. Biting her lips, she stole a glance toher right. As expected, the young couple were engaged in a deep, passionate kiss.

Millie quietly popped a popcorn into her mouth and turned her attention to the screen. At thatmoment, she realized that the couple seated to the far right was making out as well.

She fell silent. At this moment, her excellent vision became a nuisance.

Finally, she whispered to Simon, “I haven’t been to the movies in ages. Is this what peoplenowadays do?”

Looking awkward, he replied, “To be honest with you, I too haven’t been to the movies in forever.”

They exchanged a look before chuckling.

She sighed. “I feel like I don’t even know how to be romantic anymore.”

Perhaps she was jaded from years of marriage.

“Millie, you need to love yourself at all times. Romantic or boring is purely a matter of perception,”Simon commented tenderly.

She looked into his eyes; they were bursting with patience and affection in the dim environment. She marveled at his emotional stability and his eloquence.

But why did she feel no attraction to him?

He asked, “You hear me?”

She looked up and flashed a smile. “Yes. Got it.”

Simon was right. Whether or not her marriage was a waste of time was purely a matter of

perception.

Take, for example, the young couple making out beside her. She could view their behavior as weird, but if she looked at them with understanding, they were merely the embodiment of passion andyouthful love.

Wasn’t it a bold and romantic act to make out with your lover while watching a movie?

“Thank you, Mr. Harrison. I’ve learned a lot from you,” she thanked him.

Simon chuckled.

After the movies, Millie and Simon made their way to the restaurant where he had made a dinner

reservation.

The restaurant was located in a sixth–floor building in the busiest downtown area, overlooking ariver. The

river was brightly lit at night, and cruises sailed in both dire

Millie was fascinated as it was her first visit to a place in that location.

They took the elevator to the top of the building and entered the restaurant. She asked, in confusion,“Is the restaurant always decorated this romantically?”

Holding a limited edition bag in one hand, she touched the roses on the railing with the other. Theywere

fresh roses.

“Wow, the decor is…” Simon was speechless at the romantic decoration. On usual days, therestaurant only had plants as decor to offer a natural and refreshing environment.

However, the restaurant clearly put effort into decorating the venue on that particular day. Eachnook and cranny was filled with flowers, balloons, and ribbons.

What was going on at the restaurant?

After the waitress guided them to their table, Simon asked, “The restaurant is nicely decoratedtoday. Is there a special occasion?”

The waitress grinned and revealed, “Oh, sir and madam, it’s your lucky day. You’re about to witnessa wedding proposal today.”
