Chapter 317

It was almost 11:00 am when they finished all the tests.

After requesting a day off from Lainey, Millie drove Selma home. She was surprised to learn thatSelma

had taken the bus alone.

Regardless, Millie still reminded Selma, “Don’t go out alone in the future. It’s very dangerous, especially when you don’t have anyone with you.”

After all, the Greers were a prominent family, and Selma held significant influence in society. Ifsomeone with ill intentions were to target her, they could easily threaten the entire Greer family.

“Indeed, I used to have you by my side. But now, you’re no longer here,” Selma said. She lookedextremely aggrieved in the back seat. At the same time, her hands tapped away on her phone.

Millie glanced back and uttered helplessly, “Grandma, you have a butler.”

“What good is a butler? At the end of the day, he’s just a butler. He’s not my granddaughter–in–law, and certainly not my granddaughter. Hmph!” Selma put her phone away and crossed her arms, heranger

evident.

Millie remained silent for a moment before saying, “Grandma, please don’t go out alone anymore, okay?”

Selma gazed at her. When Millie stopped at the red light, she looked back and asked, “Okay?”

Yet, Selma didn’t respond. This meant that she would still venture out on her own.

Left with no choice, Millie threatened, “Grandma, if you don’t listen to me, I won’t talk to youanymore./

“Alright, I get it. I won’t go out alone anymore,” Selma responded with a resigned tone.

Millie nodded and smiled, “Good.”

Soon, they arrived at the Greer residence, where Selma lived with Gloria and Brian.

The Greer residence was grand, with a long driveway leading up to the main entrance. As soon asMillie’s car pulled up, the butler, Benjamin Garrett, rushed out.

“Madam Millie, you’re back!” he greeted her with a smile.

At that moment, Millie was opening the car door for Selma. She nodded in acknowledgment andsaid, Long time no see, Mr. Garrett.”

Benjamin nodded lightly and followed them into the house.

Then, Millie reminded him, “Grandma’s health isn’t great, so please don’t let her venture out alonefrom

now on.

Benjamin spread his hands helplessly and exhaled quietly. Despite his best efforts, Selma simplywouldn’t

listen to them.

“Don’t blame him,” Selma said as she went to pour herself a glass of water.

Millie sighed. “Okay.”

“Did you buy all the groceries I asked for?” Selma asked Benjamin.

Benjamin immediately nodded. “Yes, Mrs. Greer Senior, I’ve gotten everything.”

“Good. I’ll be having lunch with Mills, so all of you can rest for now,” Selma instructed, waving themoff.

Millie walked into the living room. The villa’s interior was opulent, surrounded by lush greenery.Through the large floor–to–ceiling windows, she admired the picturesque landscape outside, wherebirds chirped, and flowers bloomed.

“Grandma, what would you like to eat? I’ll make something for you.”

Millie headed to the kitchen as she spoke. After washing her hands, she started rummaging throughthe refrigerator.

Selma followed behind her. Millie was still thoroughly familiar with the house. When Millie turnedback to look at her, Selma was leaning against the doorway.

“Mills, I truly don’t want to see you leave,” she remarked sorrowfully.

Millie chuckled. “Grandma, not again. Well, since you don’t know what you want to eat, I’ll justprepare a few simple dishes.”

After saying that, she started taking out the ingredients that Benjamin had just bought. They werestill very fresh.

“You must have seen the news this moming.” Selma sighed and added, “It’s so frustrating!”

However, Millie didn’t respond and continued to prepare the meal.

Noticing her silence, Selma felt a lump in her throat. It was as if her words were stuck inside.

Millie, who often cooked, worked swiftly. In under half an hour, she had prepared four dishes.Throughout the process, she had to gently shoo Selma away whenever she tried to help.

Finally, she placed the last dish on the table.
