Chapter 326
Vanessa frowned, unable to shake her worry. However, Millie’s determined shove left her with nochoice but to step out.
As soon as Felix saw Vanessa emerge, he immediately lost his composure.
“Why are you out here too? When did that doctor start working? Is she even qualified? I’m warningyou, if anything happens to my wife, I won’t let any of you get away with it!”
His voice was loud, and Millie caught every word.
Right then, Lainey rushed over. Upon hearing the commotion, she asked, “What’s the matter?”
“Dr. Quinn, you’re finally here!‘ Felix gripped Lainey’s arm tightly as if she were their savior. “My wifeis in critical condition!”
“Why is everyone gathered here? Who’s inside?” Lainey noticed a figure in the ward and glancedat Vanessa and Hazel.
Hazel whispered, “Um… Dr. Caldwell.‘
Lainey frowned in bewilderment. She thought this was ridiculous. How could they let Millie handle italone?
“What are the symptoms?” Lainey asked as she put on her mask.
Just as she was about to enter the ward, the door suddenly swung open, and Millie stepped out.
“It’s all sorted out,” Millie told Lainey.
Lainey was stunned, while Vanessa refused to believe it. Vanessa dashed into the ward and sawthat all the indicators on the monitors had returned to normal.
Just moments ago, the patient had been on the brink of death. But now, all her vital signs hadreturned to normal. How had Millie done it?
Vanessa turned to look at Millie, who stood with her hands in her pockets, calmly observingeveryone.
Though the patient went into cardiac arrest, the right amount of adrenaline was administered.Following the standard resuscitation, Millie used some of her own techniques. In no time, the patientshowed significant improvement.
Vanessa was dumbstruck. Lainey, on the other hand, checked the patient again and confirmed thateverything was indeed fine.
“You… Felix pointed at Millie before glancing inside. His wife was no longer in danger, and hercomplexion had regained its healthy hue.
Lainey arched an eyebrow and couldn’t help but chuckle inwardly. “I’m glad everything’s fine now,”she said.
-As she stepped out of the ward, she gazed at Millie and warned, “This shouldn’t happen again.”
Since this was Lainey’s patient, Millie shouldn’t have acted on her own. If anything had gone wrong, who should be held responsible?

Millie nodded obediently. She then forced a smile and apologized, “I’m sorry, Dr. Quinn. I was justtoo
anxious.
“But you handled it well,” Lainey replied with an approving smile.
It seemed Millie was truly as remarkable as Sebastian had claimed. With that, the two of them lefttogether.
Vanessa stood by the door with a frown. As she observed Millie’s and Lainey’s retreating figures, her face reflected a whirlwind of emotions.
“I can’t believe how capable Dr. Caldwell is,” Hazel commented, her surprise evident. “Dr. Xander, you couldn’t resolve the problem, but Dr. Caldwell managed it without a hitch.”
Hazel shook her head in disbelief. On the other hand, Vanessa’s expression darkened upon hearingthat.
“I guess we still don’t know who will be promoted to deputy chief,” Hazel muttered.
Vanessa’s displeasure deepened with that remark. Without saying another word, she walked away.
Seeing that she was leaving, Hazel called out, “Hey, Dr. Xander!”
Soon, Vanessa returned to her office. The moment her colleagues saw her, they teased, “Oh, look!Dr. Xander, the deputy chief, is back!”
“Cut it out,” Vanessa responded, taking her seat.
The others chuckled. “What do you mean? With Yoel gone, the deputy chief position is clearlyyours!”
While flipping through her documents, Vanessa suddenly recalled Hazel’s words.
“I guess we still don’t know who will be promoted to deputy chief.”
The thought left Vanessa feeling uneasy. She clenched the documents tightly and forcefully closedthem.
Had she spent years waiting for this chance only for it to slip away from her?
