Chapter 373

“I would be really thankful to you if you’re willing to give up the necklace.” Millie flashed him asincere

smile.

However, if Winston refused to sell the necklace, she wouldn’t bother him about it. After all, it wasjust a

necklace.

Winston raised an eyebrow. Taking a sip of water, he calmly asked, “Ms. Caldwell, what can youoffer in exchange?”

“What can I offer? I’m buying it.” She shrugged. “How about double the price of the winning bid?”

Marvin’s heart sank when he looked at the two of them. Although they were no longer husband andwife, they would still make a powerful duo.

Winston was always aggressive. Meanwhile, Millie had become increasingly intimidating with astreak of madness.

“Let’s not always talk about money. That’s crass,” Winston replied with a sigh.

Millie refused to engage further. “Mr. Greer, just let me know when you’re ready to give up on thenecklace. It’s getting late. I don’t want to take up any more of your time. Bye!”

She tried to leave, but Winston tutted. “Millie Caldwell, I saved your life, remember? I still have aninjury

on my arm.

She paused and blinked at Winston. Was he seeking attention by bringing up the time he saved herlife? She had saved his life many times too!

Besides, it was not her fault that he got injured in the arm.

She fixed her gaze calmly on his face. “I told you I don’t need you to save me, but you insisted ondoing it If you willingly made a sacrifice for me, do not expect my gratitude no matter what happensto you.”

She gave him a nod and left with a smile. Her curt and decisive remark was akin to plunging a knifeinto

his heart.

She was cruel. Her words echoed in his head. “If you willingly made a sacrifice for me, do notexpect my gratitude no matter what happens to you.”

The door of the private dining room slammed shut. Winston grabbed his glass tightly. Momentslater, he released the glass with a bitter smile.

Eli entered the room. He whispered, “Mr. Greer…”

He shot an exhausted look at Eli. “Go ahead.”

“We’ve ended our business partnership with William Pearson,” Eli, keeping his head low, reported toWinston with great respect.

Winston nodded. “Okay.”

“We’ll bring the item from the auction back home.”

Winston stood up and left the room. Eli asked, “Mr. Greer, do you want to eat more? You haven’thad much today.”

“It’s not to my taste,” he replied flatly.

Eli checked out the table. Only Millie finished her food. Winston barely ate.

“How are things on William Pearson’s side?” Winston glanced at Eli.

Eli quickly caught up with him. “He didn’t file a police report. The issue has died down, but he wasin a bad condition. He’s in the hospital now.”

Winston frowned. William was in a bad condition? Was he injured?

“Ms. Caldwell had hurt him. I’ve taken care of it. He won’t harass her,” Eli replied curtly.

Winston smiled. Millie had become more unruly since she left him. Not only did she meet Williamalone in a foreign country, but she also injured him.

This young lady from the Caldwell family rarely thought twice before she acted.

Rubbing his fingers, Winston ordered Eli, “Get me on the earliest flight back home.”

“Yes, sir.” Eli nodded.

Millie and Marvin took their seats on the flight. She sighed. “I ended up empty–handed after all myefforts.” “Boss, this is all my fault. I’ll accept any punishment,” Marvin responded in an apologetictone. He blamed himself and felt sorry about the situation.

Millie rubbed her forehead and shut her eyes tiredly.
