"Why are you so riled up? Can't believe you're looking for a punching bag in the middle of the night." Winston was about to comment further when he noticed Millie eating on the bench. Feeling conflicted, he stared at her.
The thin and petite Millie looked extra vulnerable on the bench. She gave off a feeling of loneliness that made him feel sorry for her.
The sight gave him mixed emotions.
Pursing his lips, he sighed and took a seat beside her.
She glanced at him. "Why are you hanging out here at this hour?"
"I'll do whatever you're doing." He stayed put since Millie was around. Crossing his arms, he stared into the dark sky, where a brilliant moon hung amidst a scattering of stars-a rare night of perfect weather.
"Mr. Greer, you are certainly romantic." Millie took a sip of hot soup and felt her body warm up.
He silently observed the sky. Soon, Millie was done eating, but she stayed behind and joined him in watching the sky.
Suddenly, he asked, "Are you attending the cruise party tomorrow night?"
"Yeah," she replied.
He coolly reminded her, "Don't take drinks from anyone."
She smiled. "Well, I kind of look forward to a-"
Winston cut her off with a dark look. He frowned with complicated feelings. What was she expecting? A one-night-stand?
Was Millie insane?
Sensing his disdain, she flashed him a smile. "Are you trying to control what I do? Mr. Greer, you're my ex husband. You can frown upon me as much as you want, but no one can tell me what to do if I set my mind to it."

Millie had always been a free spirit. She could behave very crazily if she wanted.
Winston didn't reply, nor was he interested in telling her what to do. He merely remarked, "I don't care if you want to let yourself go."
"Wow, am I 'letting myself go' just because I am looking for some fun? Does the same not apply to you when you keep a lover?" She shrugged.
Why did women have to be inferior to men in a marriage? Millie sighed. The world was so unfair.
Winston replied flatly, "You're blaming me?"
She immediately shook her head. "No, I don't. It's all in the past anyway."
He snickered. "Or do you care because you love me too much? You kept saying it was in the past; that's because you haven't gotten over it yet." Narugi.com
"Stop flattering yourself. There's nothing attractive about you-a cheater and a man who misunderstands me all the time." Millie let out a sigh.
Thinking back, there was nothing attractive about Winston.
He was at a loss for words. His confidence now felt like a joke. After how badly he treated her, she certainly found nothing likable about him. "But Winston..." Staring at the moon in the sky, Millie lamented wistfully, "Did you know my mind went blank on that night?"
Taken aback, he stared at her. "What does that mean?"
Which night was she referring to?
Millie turned and stared into his vacant, dark eyes.
Winston still had no idea that she was the one who saved his life, and he had never once asked her. How she wished he had known the truth that she had risked everything to save him.
Biting her lips and clutching a corner of her shirt, she lowered her voice, placing emphasis on each word." Winston Greer, I, Millie Caldwell, have never wronged you."
He stared squarely at her, refusing to miss any information she was ready to divulge.
