Draped in their pristine white coats, the team radiated a vibrant energy. Leading them was LaineyQuinn, a distinguished chief cardiac surgeon in her thirties.

Having joined the Bifrost Hospital just a year prior, Lainey’s cool demeanor and exceptional medicalskills had earned her the title of “Demon Healer“. She was the mentor Millie was set to work under.

Lainey was deeply engrossed in patient records when she noticed Millie. Millie offered a nod ofacknowledgment. “Dr. Quinn.”

With a brief hum, Lainey instructed, “Are you the newbie? Meet me in my office later.”

As the team moved forward, Millie subtly positioned herself by the wall and observed theirdeparture.

A few interns exchanged covert glances and murmured, “Isn’t that Millie Caldwell?”

“Do you mean the Caldwell family known for medical excellence, except for Millie Caldwell? Could itreally be her?”

“Exactly. I heard she’s not up to par and only secured a spot at Bifrost Hospital throughconnections. Now she’s in Cardiac Surgery?”

“Some people just have all the luck. We slave away for years to get in here, and she just walks in.”

Just then, Lainey paused, casting a sharp look their way.

The interns quickly fell silent, their whispers silenced.

Instead of heading straight to the office, Millie took a brief detour around the department tofamiliarize herself with her new surroundings. She greeted the nurses at the station, making herpresence known.

“Did

you hear about Dr. Lloyd? He pulled a muscle during a meeting. But just when things seemed dire,someone stepped in.”

Millie, adjusting her coat’s buttons, perked up at the nurses‘ conversation.

“A slender woman swiftly administered acupuncture needles. And guess what?” The speaker was aplump young woman with sparkling eyes.

“What happened?” Millie asked, intrigued.

“She healed him on the spot! It was

traordinary!”

“Really? Who was this savior?” another nurse interjected.

“Rumor has it, it was the elusive healer, Milla Webson, who disappeared three years ago,” theyoung woman asserted confidently.

Millie was taken aback. “Why her?”

Just as she was about to elaborate, a man approached from behind, scoffing, “What sort of naivegirls believe in such mythical healers? There’s no such thing as miracles. You’re exaggerating!

“And Dr. Lloyd, how could he let such rumors spread?” he added, his irritation clear.

Millie took a moment to assess the man. He was handsome, in his early thirties, named YoelMarshall. He was the deputy director of the department.

“Mr. Marshall, there really is a healer named Milla Webson. She’s exceptionally talented,” Hazelcountered.

With a grave expression, Yoel responded, “If miracle workers could cure everything, then what’s ourpurpose here? Now, get back to work!”

Rolling her eyes, Millie fiddled with her fingers and remained silent.

Without warning, Yoel gestured at her and instructed, “You too, get to work. You’re new here andhave already started gossiping. What’s that about?”

Millie was left speechless. She couldn’t fathom his sudden outburst.

He seemed unusually irritable today. At this rate, he might even kick an innocent passing dog.
