Maya pulled herself from the floor. It hurt her so much. So much that she wanted to empty whatever she had taken earlier in the bathroom. To think that the people who are supposed to protect her and love her at the same time were the ones who were making her life a living her.1

It wasn't fair at all. Not to her anyway. But nothing is fair in this world. She might as well as accept her misfortune. Her bad lack in life. Her own loner life in this world. That's what's best for her. For her and her broken heart.10

She had stayed in that floor since they left for only God knew how long. One hour, two hours, she had even lost track of time. With the pain she felt, she took out a sweatpants and a black tee shirt and walked to the bathroom.1

She needed a shower. A shower to take away her humiliation. To take away her cowards of not standing up for herself. All her life, that's what she has always done. Let people push her around.1 First her dad. Who thought that he was doing whatever her was doing to revenge. To revenge for something that had no control off. Something that she had no idea of until one day when she was five, he shouted on her face.1

Five. What does a five year kind know? What is it that a kid can do to deserve all the manhandle that her dad did? She tried. She tried to win his love from the moment she knew how to speak her first word.1 To get the affection that he was giving her brother, but nothing changed. He pushed her around. Did with her what he pleased and she let him. Let him trying to prove to him that she was a good daughter. A good daughter who took up medicine for her father's sake since her brother had refused the dream. She agreed. She even agreed to go on a boarding school since she was a burden as he had pug it. For what? To be perfect? To be the best?3

Had it not been for her brother, she would have gone. Had it not been for him at highschool, she would have been bullied. All her damn life. She lived that kinda life. A mean less life to those around her. A life where if she died at that moment, people would hold a party instead of her funeral to mourn.1

And now here she was all over again. History repeating itself but this time with her husband and his girlfriend. His girlfriend. Never in a million years could she have guessed that the same Kimberly who had been so good to her, would turn out to be the devil himself.

All the nice words she had said at backstage. Her giving Maya the dresses she was supposed to where saying it would make every man jaws drop if she wore them herself. The one who smiled at her genuinely at the backstage when every other model gave her a green eye. Or maybe she thought.1

'Whenever you see a woman being nice to you for nothing, gal, she is a cunning bitch. And people like that want your man.'5

That's what Kayle always said to her. How could she have forgotten that? All the sweetness was for nothing but revenge. And as stupid as she is, she felt right into the trap. But why didn't Wesley say anything? Why didn't he at least try and say something?3

Maya let her tears flow with the cold water that flowed on her body. It was too cold for room temperature but she didn't give a damn. No one cared. Not even the one she considered her brother. Not even him. How stupid of her. How did she become a doctor again?

Maya remember the look on Chris' face when Kimberly slapped her. It did sting do much that she wanted to slap back but she used all the self control that she had. It was better to keep hers to herself. She even had the audacity to pull her hair something that her own dad had never done before.2

And Chris, what did he do? Get pleased. His hazel eyes were brown. And when he saw her hold her head high, they turned blue out of anger. It's like he wanted to struggle her alive at that moment.1

If it wasn't for the CCTV cameras outside. She feared of what would have become of her life. It's like Kimberly was ready to kill any moment. It was good idea that Chris had brought them it a hotel and not one of his many mansions. That is if they were many.

Maya walked outside the bathroom all dressed and took out her sneakers. She needs fresh air from outside and maybe she could walk down the streets. She took the keys that Chris had left on coffee table and locked the door behind her. The good thing is that, she had seen him pocket one spare key before he left.1

So, if he came back before her, he won't have to wait for her. But who goes to clubbing and comes back early? They got to be sick for that to happen. And judging by the look of things, the couple was far from ever being sick.

The elevator door beamed notifying her that she was at the lobby. Once it opened, she stepped out after everyone else had done that. How they got in the elevator, she had no idea. "The nerve of that Kimberly," she said walking towards the outside. Her hands were in fist while she talked and her head was held low.

"How dare she judge me? Does she have even the slightest idea of what I've gone through all my life? Does she think because I'm a governor's daughter everything was handed to me in a sliver flatter? How dare she and everyone else judge me? How dare they point a finger..."3

She hit something hard yet very warm. At first she wanted to curse but when she felt the warm substance flowing down her stomach, her fist grew harder that her knuckles hurt. She looked up and saw the hard solid she hit.

It was a male's chest and the warm liquid that had now stopped to flow any further was chocolate or coffee. Whatever the damn cup he was holding consist.

Maya looked up at the man's face. Her green eyes locked with the darkest eyes she had ever see. She wanted to look away since all her words had evaporated in her throat but those dark eyes. They're magnet if not any thing else.

Self control, Maya. She said to herself and it seemed to work.

Her gaze moved to his sharp jaws that had her inhale silently. The guy had side burns making him look too perfect for a magazine model. To her, he looked utterly delicious in navy blue suit with a white shirt inside it and a black bow tai that oozed charisma and charm.2

Maya wanted to stop but her eyes didn't obey. Not before moving to the strong legs that were hidden by the trouser he was wearing making her feel disappointed. If only he was in a swimming suit or in a towel. Wait, what? I'm going crazy. Look away before this becomes too embarrassing for you, Maya.

As if reading her thoughts, the gentleman spoke.

"Done checking out?" He asked a deep voice.6

Deep voice that she had never had any man speak in. She always told her brother that he had deep voice, but it was no near to this strangers. Never in her widest dreams did she think she would ever hear any deeper voice than her brother's.

"Cat got your tongue now?" He asked locking his gaze with hers. "I know I'm handsome but you don't have to be that much offiance sweetie."1

Maya felt her bile in her stomach. How dare he? He was the one who had purred the long forgotten liquid on her and he was acting so arrogant? The nerve of him.1

"Are we too full over ourselves here?" She asked letting her palms to be hit by air after a long time of holding them into fist.

"You know, I've seen so many cute guys than you and ranking you out of ten, your number ten you moron. And instead of braking how handsome you're, you should be asking me if I'm okay since you purred whatever was in that cup you're hold all over my body."3

That's when he realized that he was holding an empty cup. She saw the worry now in his eyes as he pulled out his white handkerchief out of his pants pocket.

"I'm so sorry," he said handing her the material. "It's not like me to be arrogant, but with a beauty like you I can't help. Did the coffee burn you? Please forgive me. I'm really sorry."

Maya felt sorry with the way he tried to apologize. It wasn't entirely his fault. It was hers too for walking without watching where she was going.

"It's okay," she said returning the unused handkerchief back to him. "It wasn't that hot."

"Yeah, I can see that. You're shivering to death. Lemme buy you hot coffee or chocolate to keep you warm."

Maya felt her body become chilled. She hadn't even noticed that it was dark outside. Not only that, she hadn't felt the cold until it was mentioned. How far away had she walked in her absent minded? She had no idea. Good think, it wasn't a foreign country so she can't get lost.

"Please, it my treat," the stranger tried to convince her.

Maya rubbed her hands together to generate the heat, "No, thank you, I've to go."

"You might want to change you mind, pretty," his deep voice rung on her ears as she tried to push past him. "No one ever resist my charm."

"You egotistic bastard," she walked past him, "you can go and buy that coffee or whatever to those ladies who don't resist your charm,as for me, I'm non of them."

And with that, she was walking down the stress in a different pace. She couldn't help but love her thoughts from her husband and his girlfriend to the egoistic man she had just met.2
