"What's the matter with you? You're even interrupting my sleep now!"

Hamish was irritated because Yara's disruption had awakened him in the middle of the night.

Without sparing a glance at his wife, he reached out to switch off the lights.

"Go to sleep. I want to sleep even if you don't want to!"

However, the bloody handprints on the wall and bloody footprints on the carpet reappeared right after the lights were dimmed.

Previously, Winnie had messed with Yara, causing the latter's mental health to be significantly damaged. At that moment, Yara began shuddering in fear as she repeatedly witnessed those scenes.

"Hamish!" Yara shook his shoulder continuously. "Look! It's Lorelei's footprints!"

"You're crazy!" Hamish chided. He was not in the mood to entertain her.

However, he suddenly felt a cold sensation spread across his face.

Hamish touched his face with his hand and realized his face was covered with a sticky and unknown liquid.

Instantaneously, he felt something was wrong too. He sat up and was met with the unexpected sight of the bloody handprints on the wall.

Hamish hastily turned on the lights. He looked down and saw his face and hands covered in blood.

Yara shrieked uncontrollably when she saw his blood-smeared face. She looked up and noticed blood dripping down from the ceiling.

The red liquid fell on Yara's head and trickled down her face. Shivering in fright, she hopped off the bed and ran out.

When she arrived at the doorway, she found out that the door could not be opened no matter how hard she turned and twisted the doorknob.

Cold sweat drenched her body as she was scared out of her wits.

"What's happening? Why can't I unlock this door? Open up quick!"

Hamish hurried over as well at that moment.

"Out of my way!"

He was under the assumption that Yara could not open the door because she was incompetent. However, the fact that the door was problematic soon dawned on him when he attempted to unbolt the door himself.

Hamish finally succumbed to horror. He pushed Yara aside and booted the door.

The sturdy wooden door would not budge after he kicked it twice.

Then, the lights inside the room flickered and completely went out.

Yara was scared senseless. She slammed on the door over and over again while screaming at the top of her lungs, "Nancy! Nancy! Save me, Nancy!"

Hamish scrambled around, looking for his phone to call someone for help, but he could not see a thing as his surroundings were pitch-black following the blackout.

The next second, his phone suddenly rang.

The abrupt ringtone echoing inside the dark room in the dead of night sounded incredibly creepy.

Moreover, after retrieving his phone, Hamish saw the caller's phone number was 13131313. At the sight of the number, he was immediately reminded of how it was synonymous with bad luck. Not daring to answer the phone, Hamish hung up the call with his trembling hands.

He thought that was the end of the scary phone call, but unexpectedly, Yara's phone started ringing the next second.

At that moment, Yara was already cowering in a corner, crying.

Hamish wanted to call someone for help, but there was no signal. Yara's phone was the same.

The two of them did not dare to answer that call, so they switched off their devices.

However, after they turned off their phones, the television inside the house, which was facing an electricity outage, suddenly lit up.

Initially, white snowflake patterns filled the screen. Then, the white patterns gradually come together to form black and white images.

Although the picture was slightly blurry, it was not difficult to recognize the figures on the screen.

The television was showing scenes from twenty years ago of Hamish and Lorelei together and when they were playing with their newborn daughter.

The heartwarming scene appeared unusually bizarre and frightening at that moment.

Those soul-stirring images gradually faded out and were replaced by fights and arguments between Hamish and his wife.

Soon, another woman emerged. She hugged Hamish intimately in front of Lorelei, and they even bullied Lorelei together.

Hamish's body was covered in a cold sweat when he saw those pictures. Yara was terrified to the extent of losing bladder control as her sleeping gown was now soaked in her own urine.

The final image depicted Lorelei with her limbs tied to the bed of a psychiatric hospital with blood covering her abdomen. In the end, she died inside an isolated and quiet room.

Just when Hamish thought that spine-chilling montage was about to finish, Lorelei, on the television screen, suddenly sat up on the bed.

Then, she walked toward the camera slowly and stiffly.

Her head was lowered, and her face was hidden behind her disheveled hair. As she moved closer to the lens, the image of Lorelei's head grew larger on the screen.

All of a sudden, she looked up, revealing her ashen face and blank, white eyes.

Lorelei gradually stretched out her hand as if she was going to climb out of the television in the next second.

Due to the sheer horror of that scene, Hamish's legs turned to jelly, and he slumped onto the floor.

He was scared out of his wits, fearing his wife, who died because of him, would climb out of the television.

With shaking hands, he took the lamp on the bedside table and used it to smash the television screen.

The lamp collided with the television with a loud clang, and the screen shattered. Only then did the frightening black and white image disappear.

Yara squealed until Nancy opened the door from the outside. After that, another housekeeper turned on the main switch of the house to restore the electricity inside the mansion, and the whole place became illuminated again.

Still, Hamish and Yara's room remained dark.

Yara gibbered, "Let's go. Let's leave. I don't want to stay here anymore."

She wailed about wanting to pack her belongings and leave that place. Hamish was not doing any better than her. After suffering from that unnerving experience and considering his disdain toward Yara's unstable state of mind, Hamish departed from the mansion in his car alone in the middle of the night.

Under normal circumstances, nighttime should be the most tranquil hour of the day, but that unexpected turn of events had caused the night to become very lively.

Meanwhile, inside another room, Jacinta stuck her ears to the door, listening closely to the movements outside.

She was in utter disbelief after listening to Yara's shrieks and hearing the sound of two cars leaving the Garland residence one after the other.

"Winnie, did you really scare the shameless couple away by relying only on the small packet of white powder and this tiny plug?" Jacinta asked Winnie in incredulity while holding a minuscule cube in her hand. She had witnessed her granddaughter connecting that device to an electrical outlet earlier, causing a power failure inside the mansion.

"That's right. I merely played a little trick on them, and they were already terrified to their cores. This is because they are guilt-ridden, so they were easily scared out of their wits."

Jacinta said, "I get it now. No wonder you did not ask me to stop them when they were locking the doors from outside earlier. This way, even if Hamish and Yara suspect us to be behind this, they will not have

any proof because we've been locked inside this room the whole time. But they've fled this place in fear and will no longer stay here. Are you going to let them off the hook just like that?"

"Of course not, Granny. Yara will never be able to escape my control. The same applies to Hamish."

With that, Winnie picked up her phone and sent a text to Nancy: Update me with Yara's location and keep an eye on her. Do not let anything bad happen to her.
