Silly Bride novel (Winnie and Xavier) -
Chapter 292
Seeing Winnie getting up, Xavier instantly locked her in his arms. "He's still outside?"
Winnie grunted in response. "He says he's here to apologize to me, so I told him to wait outside. In fact, I was about to ask you about it. Why is he here? Did you bring him here?"
Xavier grabbed her fingers and nibbled them gently. "No way. I was in a hurry to see you. Why would I bring him along? He was the one who tagged along. I saw him when I was getting off the plane. At that time, I figured it was too late for me to send him away. Then again, we should still put our guard up even if he says he's here to ask for forgiveness. This rascal's mind has been full of evil tricks since he was young."
"All right. I'll go meet him now." Winnie nodded.
When Xavier saw her getting out of bed, he, too, sat up immediately. "I'll go with you."
She glanced at him and pressed his shoulders. "It's been a long day for you. Maybe you should get some rest."
Xavier was stunned. He knew she did not want him to tag along.
He eyed her, frowning slightly. "Why?"
Not wanting to hide the truth from him, she admitted, "It's about Christopher. Just give me more time. There's no avoiding this topic when I see Nate."
So that's the reason... Xavier gazed at her in silence.
"All right. I'll do as you say." Despite saying that, Xavier still stood up.
He picked a shirt from the wardrobe beside the bed and handed it to her. "Put this on."
"All right. I'll do as you say," Winnie repeated his words in the same manner while taking the shirt.
Xavier took her hand, unable to hold in a chuckle. "Do you need my help putting it on?"
Winnie glared at him. "Just say it if you don't want me to go."
With that, she quickly changed into the shirt and was about to leave.
Xavier sat by the bed with his eyes on her, looking rather aggrieved. "Aren't you going to give me a kiss before leaving?"
Amused, Winnie walked over, pinned him to the bed, and gave him a passionate kiss.
Five minutes had passed by the time she went to open the door.
As expected, Nate had not left. His eyes lit up when he saw Winnie opening the door.
The coldness in the air made his voice tremble as he said, "I-I'm really here to apologize to you. See? I didn't move an inch when you told me to stay out here. Is there anything else I need to do? Just tell me." Winnie scrutinized him and realized his lips had turned purple from the cold.
Without saying anything, she shot him a look that indicated for him to enter the house.
The temperatures in the day and at night were drastically different. It was so cold outside that Nate, who was drenched, could feel the warm air from the house even though the door was only half open. Noting her actions, he followed her into the house.
Winnie went straight to the counter in the open kitchen, and Nate went over as well.
On the countertop sat a bottle of whisky that was already opened. Winnie took out two glasses and poured the alcohol into them until they were a third full.
At that moment, Nate was feeling cold and thirsty. He could not help but gulp as he gazed at the tempting drink in front of him.
Of course, his action did not go unnoticed. Smirking, Winnie handed him a glass. "You must be freezing standing out there while soaking wet. How does a glass of whisky sound? It can warm you up." Winnie sounded rather gentle when she said that, which surprised Nate. Still, he reached out to take the glass.
Just when he was about to touch the glass, Winnie suddenly let it go.
With a tinkle, the glass shattered into tiny pieces at Nate's feet.
Nate was no fool. He could tell Winnie did that on purpose.
At first, he was a little furious, but he quickly suppressed his emotions.
Noting the change in his gaze, Winnie lifted the corner of her lips into a faint smile. "What's wrong? Can't handle a tiny situation like this? Do you feel humiliated?"
Nate hung his head and saidm, "No. This is nothing compared to the things I did to you and Christopher. It's only right for me to endure things like this."
"Oh?" Winnie cocked a brow. "Looks like you've really thought things through. Anyway, I heard Harold wants to take revenge on me. Is this information from you?"
"Yes. Xavier told you about it, I suppose? Truth is, Leandro is also thinking of the same thing. He and Harold are mad at you. However, they had an internal strife when I left, so I'm not sure what the current situation is."
"Not sure? Does that mean you don't know whether Harold is dead or alive?" Winnie frowned at him.
Nate pursed his lips. "I don't."
Winnie snorted. "Looks like your information isn't that reliable. Do you think you can be trusted, Nate?"
Her words got him worked up. "Why not? I'm the only outsider apart from their own who knows about this. You wouldn't have heard about this beforehand if I didn't tell you about it. Yes, I don't know if they're currently dead or alive. But what's important is that you need to be more careful."
Winnie merely smirked without saying anything.
Nate panicked. "No matter what I say, you still don't believe me because I'm not a trustable person to you. It's okay. I can prove it to you."
Since the kitchen had an open concept, Nate could easily locate the knives at a glance.
Glancing at the tools and back at Winnie, he made up his mind and walked straight into the kitchen.
Unsure of what he was planning to do, Winnie could only watch him with an icy gaze.
Nate retrieved a fruit knife from the rack.
He held the handle with his left hand and the blade with his right.
Then, he pulled the knife downward before Winnie's eyes, and immediately, blood flowed out from his palm.
"I swear on my blood that I'm telling the truth. If I tell you another lie, I'll chop my hand off. I admit it was my fault back then, but I'm now sincerely repenting of my sins. I really hope you can forgive me." "Forgive you? Do you know how many people have died because of you and Yulissa? Do you think spilling a few drops of blood in front of me will make me forgive you?" Winnie was unfazed.
Nate clenched his fists. "I know. Asking you to forgive me is an extremely difficult thing to do, and it's not something I can convince you to do with just words. You can hate me all you want, but I hope you won't take it out on Xavier. I hope you two can still get along well, and I hope my actions did not bring the Fraser family any trouble. So can you please stop hating and avoiding Xavier?" Spread the love
