"Grandpa?" Winnie was the first to react upon hearing Joshua's words.

Walking up to Emily's side with knitted brows, she asked softly, "Grandma, what's going on? Hasn't Xavier passed Wilhelm's trial? Why are there still more conditions?"

"You worry too much, Winnie." The smiling Emily patted Winnie's hand. "Why don't you let your grandfather finish?"

Winnie maintained her frown in silence. This isn't a matter of me being overly worried or not, but Grandpa and Grandma are not playing by the rules.

Nonetheless, Winnie still respected Joshua greatly. "In that case, Grandpa, I would like to hear what they are."

"All right then. On behalf of myself and Winnie's grandmother, I would like to state three conditions." Giving Xavier a solemn look, Joshua remarked, "These three conditions are not tough, and I hope that you can agree to them."

"Please go on."

"Firstly, I'm aware that you are poisoned by a substance that affects you mentally, and it will take you a long time to fully recover. Nonetheless, I do hope that you can stay in good health so that you will be able to live a long life together with Winnie. Is this something you can promise me?”

Xavier, expecting Joshua to make things difficult for him, was surprised that the first condition was just for him to stay healthy.

Feeling ashamed over thinking ill of the other man, Xavier stood upright and replied earnestly, "I swear that I'll stay in good health.”

"Good. Remember your promise. Secondly, no matter how loving a couple can be, it's inevitable that you will quarrel. Therefore, I hope that you can maintain a forgiving attitude. No matter how serious the conflict between both of you is, you can never do any harm to her. Obviously, we will ask Winnie for the same."

"All right." The second point couldn't be any clearer to Xavier. "I promise you that I won't hurt Winnie under any circumstances. Moreover, I'll love and treasure her for the rest of our lives."

"Very good. Now, to the last condition." Joshua and Emily exchanged glances before continuing, "I know both of you have registered your marriage in Chanaea, but you will still need to hold an official wedding, as it is my wish to see a grand wedding for my granddaughter. However, it goes without saying that if Winnie prefers to keep a low profile, we naturally won't force the matter. Will you be able to do this?"

"I will!" Xavier agreed without any hesitation. After all, he had long planned to organize a wedding to make it up to Winnie. It was just that they never had the opportunity to do so.

At that moment, Emily joined in the conversation. "As for the wedding, there's something I would like to add. I hope that you can organize two. One will undoubtedly be in Chanaea, while the other will be held here. Is this acceptable to you?"

"Of course it is." It never crossed Xavier's mind that Joshua and his wife would state these three conditions, for they were what he was supposed to do anyway.

As for Winnie, she felt embarrassed for overreacting earlier.

Touched by her grandparents' words, she felt tears welling up in her eyes. "Grandpa, Grandma, are these even considered conditions?"

"They are." Emily gave Winnie's hair a gentle tousle. "Your grandpa and I hope to see you lead a happy life."

Just as she spoke, Emily looked in Wilhelm's direction. She asked, "Wilhelm, do you still have any objections?"

"In fact, I do." Wilhelm elaborated, "Just staying healthy isn't enough. As I have said before, he must have the ability to ensure Winnie's safety."

He then turned to look at Winnie. "Winnie, I'm not trying to make things difficult for you and Mr. Fairchild, but this is really important, and you cannot refuse."

Just when Winnie wanted to respond, Wilhelm shifted his attention toward Xavier. "What do you think, Mr. Fairchild?"

Xavier, while exchanging glances with Winnie, gave her a reassuring look before meeting Wilhelm's demanding gaze.

"Mr. Speiser, you're absolutely right. It's necessary for me to have the ability to protect Winnie. However, I'm just not sure how high your standard is."

Wilhelm stared intently at Xavier. "I have my own methods of evaluation, but there won't be enough time today to complete it. If you're willing to take the test, I'll naturally make the arrangements." "All right, I'll take it." Xavier showed no hesitation at all.

"Wait!" Winnie wanted to stop Xavier but was a second too late.

She then frowned at Wilhelm. "Wilhelm, how can you evaluate Xavier based on the special forces' training? That's not fair!"

"Winnie!" Wilhelm spoke with a firm tone. "Are you being fair to me when you pass judgment without knowing what the actual test is?"

Winnie's defensiveness had infuriated Wilhelm.

Initially, he had no intention of making things difficult for Xavier, but now, he couldn't help stating another condition.

"Mr. Fairchild, I also need you to complete a task for the Speiser family as proof of your capabilities. All this while, the Speiser family has enjoyed a mutually-beneficial relationship with its in-laws. Hence, once your wedding is completed, the Fairchild family will be considered our in-laws. From then on, you'll be given priority for any commercial partnerships. This is something I can guarantee upon Grandpa's name. It's for that reason I hope you can do something for the Speiser family. Do you dare accept this challenge?"

At that moment, Winnie could sense Wilhelm setting up a trap. "In that case, let me hear what it is first."

"No," Wilhelm rejected her, "there's no room for bargaining in this matter. Mr. Fairchild will have to give me a firm answer, whereas I will need to judge whether he can complete the task or not. That's all there is to it."

"Fine, I accept your challenge."

"Very good. If you fail to complete it, it would be a testament to your incompetence."

"Go on and tell me what it is."

"Sure. Listen well..."

Wilhelm related the challenge to Xavier.

Just from hearing it alone, one could tell how difficult the task was.

Coincidentally, Winnie-having heard about it before-shot Wilhelm an angry look.

"Wilhelm, how can you ask Xavier to do something even Prince Andrew is incapable of? Didn't he ask for your help from the very beginning? If even you failed to help him, what chance does Xavier have? He's just a Chanaean and doesn't have any networks or resources here!"
