Silly Bride novel (Winnie and Xavier) -
Chapter 56
Molly was flabbergasted. "Ah! Had something gone wrong?"
"Let's hurry over to take a look!" Winnie's curiosity was piqued too.
Other than having a cast on his leg, there were a series of loud noises in Xavier's room moments ago. By rights, as his caretaker, she should check on him immediately.
However, she did not see the point in doing so since she was only impersonating someone. Subsequently, she dawdled behind Molly, who hurried off to Xavier's room instead. Anyway, we can't figure out what the loving couple is doing now. What if they are indulging in a steamy shower? If so, we'll surely be overwhelmed by the unsightly scene if we rush into his room now! Molly, who ran all the way, reached faster and knocked on the door right away. "Mr. Fairchild, Ms. White, what's the matter with you? Do you need the caretaker and me to give you a hand?" Nevertheless, there was no response from the duo inside the room. Winnie and Molly could even hear Yulissa's high-pitched voice.
"Why did you unleash your wrath on me? It's not fair for me!" Yulissa's voice sounded. She was obviously on the verge of tears as she lamented, "Didn't you mention that you hoped we could rekindle our happy moments years ago? I've been giving my all to please you, and I'm taking the initiative most of the time. However, you've never touched me since I'm back by your side! I have been trusting you since you mentioned that you would divorce that silly woman. But look at how things have gone the other way around. I can't believe you're falling head over heels for her! Now that she has disappeared, even the police have issued a missing person report. What's the point of you checking the surveillance cameras tirelessly every day? Have you forgotten about your broken leg? Didn't you know why I tried to take off your clothes? I was thinking of helping you with your shower. How's it possible that I have any ulterior motives? You promised you would put effort into restoring our lost relationship, didn't you? Do you still remember what you did after I stripped naked and lay beside you in Lagune Mansion that day? You pushed me away and headed straight to that silly woman's room instead! Did you think I was oblivious to what you'd done? Instead of letting me help you, you'd rather plead with a dumbass! Xavier Fairchild, say something! Why do you remain silent? Why don't you try to retort my words, telling me that I've misunderstood you, acted irrationally, and made a big fuss? Fine! You choose to play dumb. Very well!"
Shortly after, the sound as if someone banging and smashing something rang out from the room. Winnie had a hunch that Yulissa was venting her anger by doing so in the room.
Soon, unable to tamp down her boiling rage, Yulissa shrieked again, "What's so good with that silly woman? She's only a dumbass who looks slightly prettier. How could you fall easily for her just because of her look? Is it because I'm not pretty enough? What's so good about that dumbass till you can't put her out of your mind? Others might not dare to get on your nerves by enlightening you, but I have no fear. Xavier, heed my words. A dumbass like Winnie Garland, who has gone missing, will only end up meeting her end. Anyway, there might still be other possibilities since she's different from the others and has good looks. Who knows, she might have been abducted, sold to the vice den, and enslaved there."
Slap!
On the heels of that, a crisp slapping sound rang out from the room.
"Shut up! Get out of my way now!"
Ha! He finally opens his mouth! He seemed to have slapped her too! Winnie felt as though she had stood outside Xavier's room for ages.
As expected, Yulissa squealed the next second again, "How could you slap me? You'd never done so throughout these years. How could you slap me now for the sake of Winnie Garland, the dumbass?" Deep down, Winnie gave Xavier a thumbs-up. Great one! Go ahead to slap her till her face becomes swollen!
Undeniably, she was astounded by the words that Yulissa blurted out a while ago. To her surprise, Xavier had never indulged in intimacy with Yulissa before.
However, Winnie could not help recalling some passionate moments between Xavier and her previously. He seemingly has lust like other men in general too. Could it be he's keeping Yulissa by his side as he has something up his sleeve?
As Winnie fell into a trance, Molly suddenly gave her a yank, breaking her reverie. "Hurry up! We'd better hide elsewhere. They're coming out!"
A quick-witted Molly hid behind Winnie swiftly just right before someone opened the door, fearing that Xavier would replace out that she had been eavesdropping outside his room. Because of that, Winnie became her shield instead.
The moment the door opened, she threw a glance at Yulissa's face instinctively. Good gracious! Her left cheek is swollen!
Nevertheless, her glance hurt a highly sensitive Yulissa's feelings.
Knowing that Molly and the caretaker must have eavesdropped on her words, Yulissa was utterly ashamed. Feeling livid due to the intense shame, she slapped Winnie's face, startling the latter. Unequivocally, it was too sudden for Winnie.
"Have you gone nuts?" Winnie came to her senses and mustered up her strength to slap Yulissa in return. With that, the latter's right cheek was as swollen as her left one in an instant.
Evidently, it never came across Yulissa's mind that a caretaker would have the gall to slap her back. She raised her hand and was about to slap Winnie again, but the latter grabbed her arm and shoved her aside.
"Do you think you can fight against me? You shouldn't have overestimated yourself!" Winnie scoffed and shook her hand. I've only slapped her face, but my hand's already in pain! Hmph! I'd better restrain myself from taking matters into my own hands again. It's not worth hurting myself by doing so.
"Ms. Houghton! Try to cool yourself down. Don't blow things out of proportion, okay?" Sensing the tense atmosphere, Molly stepped forward to defuse the situation.
The next second, she turned to hold Yulissa's arm. "Ms. White, please don't be bothered by her."
"Take off your hand!" Yulissa grimaced and shrugged Molly's hands off before dashing out.
The latter could not refrain from grumbling, "My goodness! What a hot-tempered woman! How could she bite the hand that feeds her?"
Right that instant, Xavier's voice sounded. "What are you waiting for? Come in and clean the room now!"
"Mr. Fairchild, coming!" Molly pushed open the door at once and entered the room.
At that very moment, Winnie grabbed the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the room. Catching sight of the absolute mess inside, she told herself to only enter a while later. Nonetheless, she had barely moved a few paces before Molly caught up with her. "Ms. Houghton, Mr. Fairchild wants you to go over now. He's still in the bathroom."
Winnie knitted her brows instantaneously, but she still adjusted her mask and entered Xavier's room.
Since everything was scattered everywhere on the floor, she could hardly step into the bathroom.
In the meantime, Xavier was leaning against the washbasin, lifting a leg. He was still in his clothes, but the first two buttons on his shirt were unfastened, and the buckle of his belt was loosened. Apart from that, his shirt was slightly wet, causing it to stick to his back like the second layer of his skin.
The grimness on his face intensified when he noticed that the caretaker stood motionless right in front of him. "What are you waiting for? Are you waiting for me to help you back to your room instead?" Winnie advanced toward Xavier without uttering any words before lifting his arm and placing it above her shoulders.
Even though it was just a short distance, they had to move at a snail's pace due to Xavier's leg injury.
Once they were out of the bathroom, Xavier piped up, "Do I need a blood test after this?"
Huh? Winnie was stunned. She could not fathom why Xavier asked her such an odd question. Did he replace out that I'm impersonating the caretaker?
