Singularity
Chapter 21

A crystal wrapped in gold all the power shall it hold. Dipped in blood seal is bound then no longer the lost be found.

“Fucking cryptic bullshit,” Michalei cursed. “It’s about time I found something useful.”

Michalei had been searching through the archives for over a week trying to replace something he could use to help bring Kira back to her senses. Now, if he could successfully recreate this binding charm, then he could use it to buy more time to search for answers.

Michalei closed the dusty book and left it on the desk. He wasn’t going to waste any more time. He went straight to the market place in search of the crystal and gold. He found it at a small jeweler’s cart. A crystal necklace with gold weaved around it on a delicate gold chain. He paid a small fortune for it but he didn’t care. All he could think about was getting it back to the castle and finishing the spell before Kira returned.

Michalei rushed back to the castle. He put the necklace on the desk and opened the book reading the instructions carefully. As he split open his hand he read the incantation and gripped the crystal tightly. For a moment it glowed as the blood soaked in. A smile crept across his lips. Now all he had to do was wait for her return.

Kira stared at the castle and sighed. She wasn’t looking forward to the conversation that she knew was coming. Her father had to be angry and she probably deserved some of his wrath. She had never gone against his wishes before.

Standing there staring at the door wasn’t going to get it over with. Kira sighed again, pushed open the door, and made her way inside. The hall was empty. She hated the sound of her shoes echoing down it as she walked. Her father poked his head out of the throne room.

“Kira!” He exclaimed as he opened his arms to embrace her.

“Papa,” She replied and hugged him.

“I’ve been worried sick young lady.” He scolded.

“I’m sorry.” She smiled.

“I’m fine though, see?” She said twirling.

“Yes, you are.” He smiled.

“Well, look at who decided to come home.” Michalei smiled as he came down the stairs.

“Michalei,” She choked. “What are you doing here?”

“I’ve been pledged to the service of Avalon.” He replied smoothly.

“You accepted this?” She asked her father with shock.

He replied with a nod and said, “He’s been quite helpful.”

“Oh, I’m sure he has been.” She rolled her eyes.

“We were just trying to help you Kira.” Michalei stated.

“You call helping me threatening a dying man and his son?” She scoffed.

“In all fairness, you did about make me vomit with the teleportation spell.” He smirked.

“That should be the least of your worry.” She countered harshly as she raised her arm with the intent to strike him.

“That man is cruel and evil. I’m sure he’s done something to you to blind you to it.” Michalei shouted.

“Enough you two.” Sephiroth growled. “She is here now and I will not waste time listening to your childish squabble.”

“I’m sorry papa.” She replied.

“Forgive me my king.” Michalei bowed. “Your father is right. There’s no point in arguing with you when your mind is made up.”

Kira smiled, “You can learn.”

Michalei reached into his pocket, gripped the charm, and then held out his arms. “I’m sorry I’m such a pain in your ass my queen.”

“I don’t forgive you.” She replied with a smile as she hugged him.

Kira realized the trap all too late. Michalei secured the clasp behind her neck and stepped back. Betrayal was written across her face. The pendant illuminated a bright white as it activated. She hit her knees in agony and as the last traces of her power were locked away.

She cried out. “Domascus!”

“Go ahead and beg for him to come to you Kira. This charm binds you to this castle and holds all your witchery at bay. It’s for your own good.” Michalei stated harshly.

“Papa, why?” She begged, hurt written all over her face.

“Oh, and don’t think you can have just anyone remove it either. If anyone tries the charm instantly transfers to them. It would be your fault allowing someone to be stupid enough to be imprisoned trying to save you.” He smirked.

“It’s only temporary Kira. Once we replace a way to lift the hold Domascus has on you then you’ll be free again.” Sephiroth replied sadly.

“I hate you.” She wept and raced away to her room slamming the door behind her.
