Sir, Let’s Divorce by Victoria Nelson Chapter 80
Chapter 80
Jaime was rendered speechless.
He picked up the pill with a handkerchief that he had with him. I’m just a researcher, not your personal chemist,” he said. Matthew said nothing; his fingertips tapped on the table. “You can take your pick of any car in the Southern District garage.” Upon hearing this, Jaime raised his eyebrows. “So willing? It appears you’ve invested a hefty sum. Where did this remedy come from? Is it really worth all the effort?”
Matthew took a sip of wine.
The wine glided down his throat, providing him with a moment of clarity.
Seeing that he was silent, Jaime seemed to comprehend something. “I reckon it has something to do with Little Victoria again?”
Only Victoria had the power to make Matthew do something so strange.
“Matthew, is this medicine really not meant for Little Victoria?”
‘Don’t refer to her as ‘Little Victoria,” Matthew said, feeling inexplicably irritated.
“Jealous?” Jaime teased him.
“Get lost.”
Once Matthew had gone, Victoria sighed in relief.
She poured a cup of water for herself and took the pill.
She lied to Matthew; it was not melatonin, but a birth control pill.
In the past two years, despite Matthew’s coldness towards her, he still wanted her very often.
Apart from that, he hardly sought her out.
Sometimes, Victoria also felt that she was being used as a tool to warm his bed.
She didn’t understand why he didn’t take precautions each time, but she had no desire to become pregnant now.
Albi still remained in the clutches of others, and her relationship with Matthew was in disarray. She had no spare energy to take on another little life…
Victoria drank a few more mouthfuls of hot water to moisten her throat, feeling better afterwards and eventually falling asleep.
On the day of the break, Victoria went to Justin’s office.
Accompanying her to sign the contract, the program team happily handed over the documents.
Victoria’s thesis progress was very smooth, and she was only a step away from completing it. If her internship went well, she could still write a glowing entry on her resume, even if she didn’t get into Golden Law Firm.
On the day of the recording, she took a taxi to the location.
She hadn’t anticipated encountering an acquaintance there.
“Victoria, you’re here too?”
Dressed in the G family’s new autumn suit, Anya emerged from the current candidates, carrying the A family’s most classic big brand, and was surrounded by stars, smiling.
Victoria averted her gaze, a dull ache in her heart.
She was aware that the major labels on Anya were either funded by Bruce or Matthew.
She wore only a simple white shirt, adding a light touch of makeup, and to save money, she didn’t buy any accessories. The only accessory she had on was the necklace Bruce gave her for her birthday.
“Yes,” Victoria said, not wanting to appear too formal in front of outsiders. She gave Anya a friendly nod and said hello. “Her attitude was neither warm nor cold,” Anya smiled indifferently. “It’s like she doesn’t have any feelings towards me…”
“Perhaps Victoria is distant and unapproachable. Anya is so adorable, everyone will be fond of you!”
“It should be that Victoria arrived late and is not acquainted with us…”
Chapter 80
“Yes, Anya, don’t be downhearted.”
Everyone was comforting Anya very warmly.
Victoria ignored her, as if she were accustomed to this kind of scene.
Ever since Anya arrived at her house, everyone had been gravitating towards Anya, while completely disregarding her.
Originally, there were sixteen interviewees. Anya did not make the cut, as she did not score enough points in her interview. to join the other six interviewees.
But Matthew had pull some strings to cause Anya to be the seventh person to replace six others.
Thus, it was known that Anya had been bribed by the sponsor, her extraordinary background making her a natural choice for currying favor.
