Chapter 357.1 You Deserve It I

When filming today, Imogen was a little absent–minded.

Before going to work, she received news that Troy had his connections suppress the case at the procuratorate. The case would not reach the courthouse for the moment and might be sent back to the police station for re–investigation due to insufficient evidence. At the same time, he also hired Lucas, the best lawyer in New York City for Leo. Troy made a backup plan. Even if he failed to suppress the case, he was still determined to get the lightest sentence for Leo.

It was Leo’s right to hire a lawyer, and Imogen wouldn’t think much of it, but he tried to interfere with the progress of the case by pulling some strings in the courthouse.

Troy believed Leo’s statement that Sarah was the mastermind behind her father’s murder. He wanted to buy time and obtain evidence favorable to Leo.

But when Imogen learned the news, she instantly thought of what Emily had said.

“Troy has deep feelings for Leo and is now trying to replace a way to overturn Leo’s case.”

Did it mean that the results of the investigation would be true if the case was sent back for re–investigation?

Imogen was having a lot on her mind.

She didn’t know who to trust.

After the filming ended, a staff member came forward with Imogen’s mobile phone and said, “Ms. Forbes, someone just called you several times.”

“Okay, got it. Thank you.”

Imogen took her phone and checked the missed calls, which were from Troy.

She walked to a deserted place and called him back.

The moment the call was connected, Troy’s voice came from the phone. “Grandma knows.”

Imogen’s heart skipped a beat.

Her mind went blank for a few seconds. She listened to the pounding in her chest and asked, “How did she react?”

“By the time I found out, she had calmed down.”

“How did she know?”

Troy sighed, “Wesie told her.”

Imogen was silent.

What she feared most came true.

“Are you

available now?”

“I’m going to change my clothes. I’ll be right there.”

“I will pick you up.”

Imogen quickly rushed to the locker room to change her clothes.

She was in a state of confusion with unknown fear overwhelming her. Her fingers trembled twice when she had to unbutton her button three times before undoing it.

The zipper accidentally got stuck while she put on her jacket. Imogen’s face turned red and the tip of her nose was sweating. It took her a lot of effort to fix the stuck zipper.

When Imogen got into the back seat of the car, Troy noticed that Imogen had not removed her makeup, her nose was a bit mottled, her face was pale, and her eyes were filled with anxiety. Troy took out the wet wipes from the storage box and handed them to Imogen. He tried to calm her down. “Don’t worry. Grandma won’t blame you.”

Imogen took out a wet wipe and wiped her face. Her heart was pounding, and she didn’t make a sound.

She didn’t know what Layla would think.

She was very scared.

She was afraid to see Layla’s indifferent and disgusted eyes, and she was also afraid to see Layla’s expectant and praying eyes.

She wanted to ask Troy about the case, but she thought about it and held it back.

She was very annoyed.

Imogen raised her hand and rubbed her eyebrows, She had never felt like running away of this so much before.

Troy held Imogen’s hand in his and gently rubbed the back of her hand with his thumb. Imogen paused and pulled out her hand silently.

Troy’s hand froze as he turned to look at her while a trace of helplessness flashed in his eyes. The car stopped at the gate of the Marshall villa.

Imogen paused and took a deep breath. She opened the door and got out of the car.

She walked into the living room. When she looked up, she met Agnes’s gaze.

Agnes was sitting on the sofa with her hands folded into fists on her legs. When she heard the sound of the car’s engine outside, her whole body tensed up. She tried hard to maintain a calm face, waiting for Imogen to walk in.

Wesley was sitting next to her with his head lowered. He looked very disappointed.

After he told his great–grandma, his mother gave him a scolding and said that he shouldn’t have told his great–grandma.

However, he just wanted to save his father.
