Chapter 664 A Strange Woman

Gerald glanced at him. There was nothing wrong with Aarav's words. It seemed like he wasn't lying. He just wanted to use Gerald. Anyway, he needed Aarav to lead the way. It was not a problem for him to get some benefits.

The Bone of Eternity and jade looked similar, and their quality was good. What about selling it? It could be sold for a good price.

But it would be a waste if the bone became a collection, Gerald thought that if Aarav picked some bones, he could buy them from him at a reasonable price for Watchmen.

As they talked, they returned to the red-brick house up the mountain. Aarav said, "A villager died. I have to take care of that after cooking for you. You can eat at my place with my wife."

"Your wife is not going to the village with you?" Gerald asked in surprise.

"My wife rarely goes out, and she doesn't like to talk to the villagers," Aarav said with a smile.

Gerald did not say anything. Then they reached the house. Aarav went to the kitchen to cook. Gerald went upstairs and was to tell his people about the bones. Just as he went upstairs, he heard snores. He rar to the room and looked around, only to replace his people lying on the bed, asleep.

Gerald was speechless. He stepped out of the room and sat down on a wooden chair on the second floor.

He just sat down when Isla stood at the door to the pink room. She had a faint smile, which made her look strange.

"What? Did someone die in the village?" Isla asked with a smile.

Gerald was surprised. "How did you know?"

"I heard firecrackers just now," she said.

Gerald was stunned.

In the country, because villagers lived far from each other, when something happened, firecrackers would be set off as a reminder. The sound of firecrackers was loud enough to be heard from far away. After everyone heard it, they knew what was going on.

This tradition still existed because of the bad signal in the villager. Moreover, firecrackers would be set off in different ways. The length and the sonority of the sound for a wedding and a funeral were different. "Are you going to the mountains?" Isla asked as she ruffled her hair.

"Did Aarav tell you that?" Gerald asked.

"No. I am used to it. Every year, there will be some people who come to replace my husband and ask him to take them into the mountains." Speaking of this, Isla smiled evilly and said, "But not all of them can come back, and that's how my husband makes money."

"It sounds like you are an expert." Gerald chuckled.

Isla took the initiative to walk over and sat down next to Gerald.

Gerald didn't know if she wore perfume, but a strange fragrance came from her.

"You young people are just bored of the peaceful life in cities. You want to explore when you have nothing to do. But it comes with danger. If something happens, you will not have a chance to react. I like all of you, so I advise you to go back," Isla said.

Gerald was surprised. It seemed that she did not go to the town with Aarav and did not know about Watchmen.

He said noncommittally, "We are mentally prepared. If there is nothing else, I will go back to my room."

Isla was surprised. "Why? Are you shy from chatting with me?"

"No, I'm tired," Gerald said.

"Alright. I'll call you when dinner is ready," Isla said with a smile.

Gerald didn't know why, but he felt that Isla was strange. However, he didn't take it to heart. It was strange enough for a woman who lived in the city to stay in a village. Maybe, she didn't like Aarav and wanted to hook up with his people when she saw them.

Judging from her tattoos and the way she talked, she probably had a messy private life.

Gerald did not want to provoke her, nor did he want to have anything to do with her.

She was beautiful but was far from Valery. In terms of charm, she wasn't a match for Red Rose.

Gerald returned to his room. He had been walking along the mountain road for nearly a day, and he couldn't resist the urge of sleeping anymore.

About an hour later, Isla knocked on the door to Gerald's room. "It's time to eat."

Gerald got up and woke up his people. Then they got up and went downstairs. On a square table, three dishes in pots were placed. There were stir-fried bacon, boiled cabbage, and a stewed potato. "That's what we villagers have. I'm sorry," Aarav said.

Gerald smiled. "It's a sumptuous dinner. Thank you."

"Alright, my dad and I will go and help with the funeral. Isla, take care of these guys. If anything happens, let them a hand," Aarav said.

"Okay." Isla smiled sweetly.

Because there were outsiders, Aarav's face turned slightly red. Then, he held his father by the hand and walked out of the room.

Isla took a seat and ate her food.

Although there were not many dishes, what surprised Gerald was that the taste was surprisingly good. It could be seen that Aarav was a good cook.

After eating, Isla collected the utensils and said, "Do anything you want. I'll do the dishes."

Gerald did not care. He winked at his people and walked out of the room. He stood outside the door, keeping a certain distance from the kitchen to ensure that Isla would not hear their conversation. "Damn it. Such a beautiful woman actually agreed to marry someone in a remote village. It's so strange." Theo curled his lips.

"Don't care about her. This woman is strange," Gerald licked his lips and said. "A villager died in the afternoon."

"Hmm." Theo, Claude, and Erik all paused, while Milo took the wine bottle and drank a mouthful of wine.

"He died when hunting in the mountains. Valery and I checked the wound and confirmed that it was murder. The murderer was at least at the top." Gerald let out a breath and said, "So, there is a high chance that someone beat us to it."

Theo was surprised. Erik frowned and said, "Then let's go into the mountain overnight."

"That won't do. A funeral is being held over there. Aarav has to help. If we want to go in alone, it will take a long time even if we have the map. Let's rest for tonight." Gerald let out a breath.

Claude nodded. "That's fine. That place sounds so dangerous. Even if someone gets there first, it will probably be difficult to go further. With our power, even if someone is ahead of us, it won't be a problem to kill them."

Gerald nodded.

They had the confidence to say this. If Dr. T did not show up, no one could be Gerald's opponent.

They did not notice that at this time, Isla, who was doing the dishes in the kitchen, smiled with a hint of disdain.
