Slumdog Billionaire Husband -
Chapter 953
Chapter 953 Gerald and Valery
Solein Kingdom of Ries City!
As the night crept in, a group of eight people in a posh hotel room in Ries City were anything but tired; their excitement was palpable.
Carolyn could not help but express her envy as she gazed at Valery and exclaimed, "Wow, you're so pretty,
Valery."
At that moment, Valery was dressed in a pure white wedding gown.
The wedding gown was personally designed by Carolyn and had some differences compared to the typical Earth wedding gown.
At that moment, Valery looked like a true fairy in that wedding gown.
Gerald could not help but acknowledge this world's manufacturing skills and craftsmanship.
Had they been on Earth, it would have been nearly impossible to make the wedding gown without a month's
worth of time.
However, after Carolyn found the clothes manufacturer, they were able to produce not one but two dresses in a single afternoon, and they were made to match the blueprint perfectly.
They had created one set of pure white wedding dresses and another set of clothes adorned with many gems. However, in this world, gems were not as valuable as on Earth. Gerald looked at the white cloth pieces on the table and asked, "What are these?"
Carolyn explained, "These are what you'll use for your wedding photoshoot. You'll spread your wings and then use this to cover them, creating an angelic image. I checked and found a place called Ether Lake near Ries City, in the midst of the mountains and forest, with stunning scenery. The pictures taken there look absolutely beautiful. That place is only the first location for our photoshoot. We still have a few other places to visit, and we'll be shooting all day tomorrow. We might not be able to finish everything on time. Our final stop will be Mount Starry. Rumor has it that the starry sky there is the most breathtaking in the entire
Havotune."
"I can't believe there are so many sights in this little Ries City." Triston remarked. straightening his
groomsman attire in front of the mirror before nodding in approval.
"They're not exactly tourist spots; they're all in dangerous areas, but I think we'll manage," Carolyn said with a
smile.
In the past few days, Carolyn had been gathering information on the best places near Ries City for taking wedding photos for Gerald and the others. She was the primary organizer for the wedding photo shoot. "Did they say anything when you went to have the clothes made?" Jacob asked.
Their jaws almost dropped, okay? They had never heard of such clothes before." Carolyn boasted.
Carolyn was the chief planner, and in addition to that, she also served as a bridesmaid alongside another bridesmaid named Rylee.
The roles of the groomsmen were assigned to Triston and Jacob.
Carolyn had intended to include Jacob and Rylee in the photo shoot, but Jacob turned down the offer temporarily as he wished to have his picture taken when he returned to Earth.
They stayed up late discussing and only went back to their rooms to rest when they were done.
After finishing his nighttime routine, Gerald was ready to go to sleep when someone knocked on his door. He opened it to replace Valery standing there at the doorway.
Gerald looked surprised as he asked, "You're still up?"
Valery shook her head and admitted, "I'm feeling a bit nervous, so I can't sleep. It's because I haven't done this before, unlike you."
"I mean, I have no idea what to do!" exclaimed Gerald, flustered. "I'm completely inexperienced. The thing with Irene doesn't count!"
Valery chuckled when she saw Gerald's reaction and walked into his room, sitting on the bed. She looked up at him and said, "We're getting married."
Upon hearing this, Gerald's heart began to beat rapidly for some reason, even though he had been married
before to Irene!
Although Gerald had been married before to Irene, it did not really feel like a marriage to him. He was numb to the whole experience, but this time with Valery, he knew it was different. He believed they would walk down the path of life together forever.
"Are you scared?" Valery raised her head and looked at Gerald with a smile.
Gerald shook his head and asked Valery, "What about you? Are you scared?"
Valery rose to her feet and walked toward the hotel balcony, gazing at Gerald.
The hotel was grand in size, and their room on the 100th floor provided a stunning view, as if they could
easily reach out and grab the stars.
Valery turned to face Gerald. "I am scared. I don't know how long we'll be alive or if we'll have children, and even if we do, I worry we won't be around to see them grow up. I'm afraid they'll end up like me, losing their parents when they're young. We are the Watchman, walking the line between life and death. One wrong step.
and we would pay with our lives. We have a lot on our shoulders. Since we left Earth, we have been carrying
the world with us. Sometimes I get tired, and sometimes I feel tired for both of us."
Before she could finish, Gerald reached out and took her hand, looking at Valery with a solemn expression. "Valery, I promise to protect you, to protect the Earth. And if we have a child, we'll make sure that they grow up healthy." He
Gerald then muttered, "I will get stronger, so strong that nobody can ever harm you, even stronger than the dirty old man we met yesterday."
"And..." Gerald gazed at Abbie intently. "As long as you're with me, I'm not afraid of anything, not even death!"
Valery was surprised, and her heart fluttered. She instinctively rose on her toes and kissed Gerald from the balcony to the bed! Gerald's breathing became more and more rapid.
After a while.
"Let's not go to the final base," a blushing Valery said. "I want to save it for our wedding night; is that okay?"
"I..." Gerald was rendered speechless as he felt terrible.
The night passed quietly and uneventfully.
At daybreak the next morning, Gerald and the others donned their suits and took a hover car out.
They split into two teams. Gerald and the others went to take wedding photos, while Hector transported the purchased items to the spacecraft ahead of time.
They purchased several hover cars and a lot of miscellaneous items.
The whole filming process went smoothly, using some equipment from this world that captured crystal-clear
images.
While Gerald and the others were busy with the shoot, things were unfolding at the conference hall of the Guerrero family in the City of Phoenix.
It had been three days, but they had not made any progress.
They could not replace any clues whatsoever, as Gerald and the others had left the City of Phoenix.
The Herman family had yet to replace a single person, as if they had vanished into thin air.
As the meeting took place in the conference room of the Guerrero family, all Four Ancient Families and all the Flame Decayers gathered there, except for those who had to leave for urgent reasons. The conference room is usually packed during such meetings involving the Four Ancient Families. However,
today it feels empty.
The Four Ancient Families had suffered devastating losses in the past few months.
Starting with Rafael, they have lost thirteen Flame Decayers so far, including eleven common Flame Decayers and two supreme Flame Decayers. The number of Flame Decayers below that could not be estimated was even higher.
The sight of the mostly empty meeting room made Sauven grind his teeth in anger.
As his gaze fell on the three Flame Decayers of the Quintin family, Sauven's expression became somewhat complicated.
Nevertheless, the Quintin family persisted as part of the Four Ancient Families without being disentangled or taken over by the other three.
That deviated somewhat from Gerald's thinking.
Sauven sighed and said, "In this meeting, we will discuss two things. Firstly, the attacker in the recent incident was unknown, and there's a high possibility that it was done by the Pierce family of Rime City," Nathanial slammed his hand down and said, "The Pierce family from Rime City has gone too far!"
Sauven shook his head and said, "No matter what, we still can't match them at the moment. We have to bear
with it for now."
Sauven sighed and said, "The losses we've suffered over the past few months have been devastating. Our four families are gathered here today with the intention of leaving this planet and the war behind by traveling to the Havotune above. We had set a target of having 100 Flame Decayers, but we have already lost nearly half of them in the last few months. Our main purpose in gathering here is to discuss a plan to escape the ongoing conflict on this planet by migrating to the satellite. However, we haven't received any news or updates regarding the battle on that planet. Our reinforcements, whom we sent, have vanished into thin air. I suspect that the world we intended to migrate to might be undergoing significant changes, and this makes our situation more challenging."
Everyone went quiet as they heard what Sauven had explained.
Sauven continued, "In order to obtain the Bone of Eternity and continue our ascent, we must conquer that planet. And so, I have an announcement to make."
"Nathanial, I need your attention," said Sauven with determination. "I'm entrusting you with the leadership of the Lightchaser and ten Purple Pioneers. Can you assure me of success?"
"I will return within six months with the Bone of Eternity and plenty of beautiful women from that world for us to rise again," said Nathanial as he stood up, full of pride. "It's just a primitive planet, and those fools
are a
bunch of freeloaders."
