So, Shall We Get Married? -
Chapter 19
Olivia opens the door to see Caleb standing in front of her, dressed in that suit that made him look more attractive than usual, his calm expression giving him that sophisticated, seductive look.
-I see you’re ready. So, can we go now? -She wanted to say no, but remembering that her landlord had left her a warning, she thought hard about declining his offer.
-Okay.
The two of them left the building, Olivia getting into Caleb’s car, dead nervous. But almost sure of what she was doing.
-Are you all right? -Caleb asked her before starting the car.
-Yes, I’m fine.
The CEO frowns, not really taking Olivia’s word for it, she seemed a little uneasy. And her cheeks were red enough that he thought she was suffering from some kind of allergy. But if she said she was fine, then, for now, he’d let her.
He starts the car, and drives to her place…
-Is it necessary to drive to his house? -She asks him without even seeing him.
-Of course, you have to see where I live and explain what your job is about,” he looks at her sideways and smiles.
And even though Olivia wasn’t really watching him, that mischievous look and sinful smile was there. It was more than confirmed that he wanted her as a lover, but what if that very afternoon he was planning to make her his?
No, no, no, no… that wasn’t possible, maybe he just wanted to clarify what the rules were and stuff. It couldn’t be that that very day he would think that she….
“But you’d like it if he offered you to be his mistress. To make love to you until you’re exhausted. You like that man, you can’t deny it.”
That damned inner voice wouldn’t leave her alone, it was like a nightmare, but awake. Of course she didn’t want to be anyone’s mistress, especially not for money, that would be pretty low. Unless… she looks at him out of the corner of her eye.
The young woman bites the inner flesh of her lips, if that possibility existed, maybe the experience wouldn’t be so bad after all. She could stand to let this man do whatever he wanted to her in bed, she liked it, she couldn’t help it.
-We’re getting close,” Caleb mentions, breaking the long string of her thoughts.
She looks off into the distance at the rise of a huge mansion, well, that street was full of huge houses. But, the direction Caleb was heading was just the biggest and most outlandish mansion on the street. How much money did this guy have? Why did he have such a huge house for himself?
-It’s too big…
-And sometimes it’s so small,” he answers, pulling the car into the house.
Olivia looks at it and is amazed….
As soon as the car parked in front of the driveway, she looked at the door in horror. Seconds later, Caleb opened the door for her and she got out.
It was crunch time…
Olivia followed Caleb into the mansion, where she was greeted by an impressive and very luxurious foyer. It was so elegant that she was even afraid to touch anything for fear of ruining it. She stood in the entrance looking at everything around her, biting her lips as she realised it was too much. She didn’t know if she could go through with the plan of becoming the mistress of such a wealthy man.
She wasn’t like that, she wasn’t interested, nor was she the type to take advantage of the situation.
-Mr. Palmer, I don’t think this is convenient,” she whispers, when suddenly she hears a voice shout. Olivia looks up and is stunned by what she’s seeing.
-Daddy!
A cute little blonde-haired girl, at least seven or eight years old, ran into Caleb’s arms and screamed the word “daddy” as she threw herself into his arms. Olivia couldn’t believe it, what do you mean daddy, did he have a daughter, was he married, did he have a wife, what the hell was she going to do then?
-My sweet Alma, how are you, my love? I’ve missed you so much, my child.
-I’ve been wanting to see you, Daddy. -I’ve been wanting to see you. I couldn’t wait to get back to the house.
-How bad was the stay at your grandmother’s house? -Caleb asks his daughter, setting her down.
-No, but you know I like being with you,” the girl smiles openly.
-Well, you’re here now.
By golly, if it wasn’t his daughter. Caleb Palmer, he had a daughter. And how come none of that was in the news? Or in the magazines?
“Yeah, stupid, like you read too many gossip magazines.”
Olivia denies as she watches the scene a little apathetically, she felt uncomfortable.
-You’re finally here! -Then, another voice caught the brunette’s attention. Olivia noticed the proximity of another young woman, this one was less blonde than the little one. We’ve been waiting for you for hours, daddy.
< What the hell’s going on? Does that man have two daughters?
The second young woman did look a little older, about 14 or even 15 years old. And she was quite serious, her features identical to those of her father.
So, Olivia looked up and began to search around for the mother of these girls. Or in case a third daughter showed up, if that happened, she was going to faint. But no one else showed up, and that struck her as odd.
-Please, Talia. Don’t start.
-Well, I can see why you’re late. And who is that woman? -She asked, crossing her arms.
The little girl, the big girl and the father all look at Olivia, who is still standing almost at the doorway. And the only thing that crossed the chestnut’s mind was to run out of the house.
-Girls, this is Olivia Millán.
-Did you bring your mistress into the house, daddy?! -The eldest girl refuted, Olivia’s cheeks suddenly turning red.
-Talia, what kind of vocabulary is that?
-Then what is this woman doing in the house? -The girl demanded loudly.
Olivia thought the girl was out of control, and apparently her father had no control over her.
-Are you going to marry her, Daddy? -God, that’s what was missing, the little girl was a troublemaker too.
-No, Alma. Let me explain why she’s here.
-Mr. Palmer, I’d better get…” The brunette makes to leave, but Caleb’s voice cuts her off.
-Wait, Olivia. I’m sorry I left you standing there without introducing you, these are my daughters,” he says, approaching her. Alma and Talia.
The brunette looks at the girls, who don’t look at her in the same way she does. Rather, they seemed to be looking at her as if she were the enemy. What the hell was she doing in that house, she was out of place.
-Mr. Palmer, I think it would be wise for me to leave. What am I going to do here? -he whispers.
But it did him no good to mutter….
-Yes, Dad, what is this woman doing here? Really, she’s very out of place.
-Please, Talia,” he scolds his daughter in a stern voice. I brought Olivia here because I want her to be your nanny.
-Nanny?! -exclaims a horrified Olivia, staring at Caleb.
-Nanny? -Talia asks angrily.
-Nanny? -Alma says in surprise.
-Mr. Palmer, do you want me to babysit your daughters?
-That’s right, the truth is that I work a lot, and now that they’re back from their holidays, they’ll be alone from time to time. It seems to me that being in the company of an older adult would be good for them.
Once again she was disappointed, but this time it was her own fault. For believing a story that wasn’t true. To come to think that she would become the mistress of a man as important as he was.
And he simply wanted her to be his daughters’ nanny, how stupid she had been. Which led her to ask herself a very important question, where the hell was the mother of those girls?
-Dad, we don’t need any girls. Especially not this one, I don’t like her at all.
-You never like one, Talia. Olivia’s a good girl, I’m sure they’ll get along just fine.
-Daddy, I’m too old to be babysat or bathed. I can do those things on my own, I don’t need her to stay.
-Alma, stop imitating your sister. I’m their father, and I’m not going to leave them alone all day.
-But you’re going to leave us stranded with a complete stranger?
Olivia looks at her eldest in astonishment, she’s quite right about that. Then she looked at her father, who was pinching the bridge of his nose. Apparently, he had a lot of misunderstandings with girls. Did he think he was blaming all these problems on her? Was he crazy?
