Aria’s POV

“You didn’t need to do this.” I whispered to Roma as we walked into a beautiful restaurant in the city, several miles away from Shadow plains.

“Didn’t need to do what?” He asked, feigning innocence and when I rolled my eyes, he grinned and pulled me closer by the waist, sniffing my neck as he placed a k**s that made me go weak in the knees.

By the time he released me and held my hand to lead me to our table, I had almost forgotten what I was trying to complain about.

After the incident in the kitchen, Sophia had taken me into the East wing, which was an exact replica of the West wing, minus all of the things that made Roma’s room look like it couldn’t decide whether to be eerie or cozy with all of those chains that I had never seen him actually use but that one time when I had played the guitar for him.

She had brought me lunch and some of my stuff from my room. I had refused to eat and not more than thirty minutes later, Roma had appeared in the room holding a box containing a brand new dinner dress and heels and a bouquet of roses, clueing me in to the fact that Sophia had reported the incident in the kitchen.

He didn’t say anything about it though, choosing to feed me and thereafter make me a bath, sitting beside me and massaging my hair in a silence that had been comfortable even though I wondered when we were going to talk about the elephant in the room.

How serious this was between us and if I was truly what they had said.

I wanted to believe it wasn’t true but I was a human, with no penny to my name and he was an Alpha to a werewolf pack and probably rich enough to buy the entire town of Shadow Plains.

We were too different.

And yet as he helped me out of the tub and brushed out my hair, it felt so natural between us, like we had been doing this for a long time.

Like we were always like this.

And now as he pulled out the chair for me, his hands gently brushed my collar bone and I swallowed as I looked at him walk to the other side of the chair to sit down, my eyes watching his powerful thighs hidden in that dark suit pants that fitted him like a glove.

Gorgeous and powerful.

It made me almost dizzy with need for him.

“You’re looking at me like you want to eat me, Aria.” He whispered just as the waiter approached our table and my n*****s hardened and rubbed against the fabric of the black velvet long sleeved backless ankle length dress that he had bought for me.

Crossing my legs to squeeze my thighs together in the gown that was slitted on both sides up to my mid thigh, I swallowed and he smirked, his tongue gliding under his teeth in a move that I knew subdued even the strongest of women.

After the waiter took our order, we ate in silence except for when I asked Roma questions about himself, what he liked and disliked and realized that he was probably the pickiest person on the planet that I had ever come across.

When dinner was over, he placed a hand on my lower back, his warm palm sending sparks throughout my entire body and we were about to head out when a couple walked in.

The man looked like he recognized Roma and as they walked towards, I couldn’t help but look at the woman.

Of course, she had that look of awe all over her face as she stared at Roma.

He had that kind of effect on every woman for the first time.

“Roma, a pleasure.” The man said and when he looked at me, I noticed his quick sniff and knew he was trying to check what I was.

“Hello, Connor. Your place still remains unmatched.”

“Thank you for dining with us.” He answered but his eyes were on me.

Roma’s hand moved around my waist, securing me to him

“This is my woman, Aria. Aria, this is Connor an old friend.”

Connor stretched out his hand and kissed the back of my palm.

“A pleasure to meet you. I’m Connor, an old friend of his and the owner of this establishment. And this is my date, Fiona.”

Fiona looked at Roma like she was looking at her next meal even though her hands were wrapped around Connor’s arm and even though Roma merely nodded at her politely, I could not help the jealousy that seeped through my bones.

“You’re a very lucky man, Roma. One would think that you had the favour of the gods on your side.” Connor said cryptically and even though I didn’t understand, Roma seemed to and he nodded, his hand holding me even tighter.

After exchanging a few more pleasantries, my body tightening with even more jealousy at the way Fiona sent Roma burning looks, Roma drove us to his penthouse apartment in the city and I could not even be awed by the beautiful interior, wound up too tight with insecurity as I looked out into the city.

“I can smell your annoyance, sweetheart. What is it?” He whispered as he stood behind me and I hated that Fiona had made me remember all of the feelings that I had kept suppressed back at the mansion.

“Connor is a werewolf, isn’t he?” I asked as Roma turned me around to face him and he nodded.

“And the woman? Also a werewolf?”

When he nodded, I released a harsh breath.

“That was why she looked at me like that, didn’t she?”

Fiona had not only given Roma seductive looks, she had looked at me like she didn’t understand what I was doing standing beside someone like Roma.

And maybe she was right. Maybe the maids were right too.

“Talk to me, my beautiful Aria.” Roma whispered and I shuddered in his arms.

“I don’t know if this thing between us, if it’ll work out. You’re an Alpha and I’m nothing but…”

“Nothing but the woman who holds my heart. What does it matter if you’re a human or a fairy?”

“Fairies exist?”

He grinned and released me, turning me around to the view of the city from the glass windows.

Minutes later, he was wearing a necklace for me and when I looked down at it, I turned around to him in surprise to see that his neck was indeed empty.

He had been wearing that necklace since the first time I set my eyes on him

“Why are you giving me this? It looks really important.”

“It’s a family heirloom and yes, it’s important. Just as you are important to me. I want you to have it. Everytime you have doubts about us, just look at it and remember that this is real. And that I’m not going anywhere, Aria. And neither as you.”

“Is that a threat?” I said with a grin as he raised my chin and when he smiled, I melted into his arms.

“No, my sweetheart. It’s a promise.”

And then he sealed his lips over mine in a k**s.
