Chapter 53
XANDER
I couldn’t help but reminisce about what happened in the river in my head. How Maliya was brave enough to take off my eye patch. For some reason. I had expected her to look at me with disgust or laugh at me or call me ugly like the others had done in the past.
1 guess the moon goddess was hell bent on punishing me because why else would Miliya suddenly become so confident and remove my eye patch just when I found out that she was my mate? I wondered if she was going to reject me like the others, but there was something different about her
She wasn’t looking at me in disgust or anything like that. It was more like she way su
e was surprised and curious at once.
My eyes widened as she began to trail her hands on my scar. She wouldn’t break her gave away from it, and I bet she wanted to learn the history behind them
1 waited patiently for her to push me away and call me an ugly monster. To Laugh at me and tell me that no wonder everyone avoided me. I didn’t expect any understanding from her and I hope she doesn’t give me one either, but instead, she muttered in a low voare.
“What happened! How did you get the scart Does it still hurt?” I could see the worry and concern in her eyes and it just didn’t feel well,
I’d understand if she was laughing at me. That is what everyone has ever done, but showing sympathy? It only made me feel like she was mocking me indirectly.
I pushed her off me and grabbed my eye patch from her hands before leaving the water.
Usually, I’d have ondered whoever did something like this to be locked up or killed immediately, but for the first time in my entire life, I didn’t know how to react.
1 could feel her stare on my body as I changed back into my clothes. I might be replaceing things hard to comprehend right now, but I do not trust what I’d do once I finally recover from the shock, so I decided to just stay away.
I went back into the mansion and took off my wer clothes to change into something comfortable. Everything felt so wrong, yet, I was too calm unlike how I’d have reacted when something like this happened.
It was as if Maliya was messing with my head and I just didn’t know how to handle the situation.
I lay on the bed, but my mind was too cloudy to be able to sleep. I stared at the ceiling, just recalling how I was forced to walk around the back with
my face.
How people would constantly throw stones at me, call me a denon and how I don’t deserve to be alive. I could still remember their judgmental eyes and words as if it all happened yesterday, yet Maliya made me feel like I was a normal person even with the scar.
I didn’t want to believe it, but her eyes did all the talking-
Just then, the door cracked open, and Maliya’s scent filled my nostrils. I didn’t miss the way she stared at me, but I didn’t break my gaze away from the ceiling.
She changed her clothes and soon came to join me on the bed. She didn’t seem to be comfortable with what happened earlier, and I could tell just how bothered she was by the way she kept on turning around.
I remained quiet despite all the questions waiting to swallow me alive in my head. Just then, she turned to my side, but I still didn’t acknowledge
her.
I’m sorry about what happened earlier. I didn’t mean to disrespect you, please forgive me,” she apologized.
She was nothing like all the people I’ve ever encountered. I wasn’t expecting an apology from her, but I wasn’t shocked either. I knew she was different from the onset.
lge her or anything.
“There is nothing to be sorry about, my voice came out barely as a whisper, without turning to acknowledge
If she was satisfied with my response, I couldn’t really tell. She stayed quiet after that and a few minutes later, the sound of her breath changed and I could tell that she had fallen asleep.
I turned to see her sleep peacefully without any worry in the world and I couldn’t help but appreciate her beauty. She was beautiful even when she
slept
I don’t know if things are still going like I planned anymore but one thing was certain. I want to keep her safe and protect her despite everything-
I was sitting in my study room, going through the report that had been sitting pretty on my desk for a while when Madam Rosalie came in.
“Alpha,” she bowed to show her respect and I looked up from what I was going to see what she wanted.
“What is going on?” I asked.
“You have a guest, she announced.
I certainly wasn’t expecting to see any guests and I don’t understand why people can’t follow a little instruction
I’ve made it known that I do not appreciate anyone coming here without any prior notice. I am not running a charity, but they just never listen.
“Who is it?” I frowned.
“Alpha Gabriel. He also came with his daughter, Madam Rosalie announced and I didn’t bother to hide my disgust.
“Where is he now?”
“He is in the waiting r
room. Should I ask him to come back? She asked after noticing my reaction.
Til deal with him myself. I said and Madam Rosalie left the room immediately.
I went to the waiting room to see what Alpha Gabriel could possibly want. We don’t have any kind of relationship and I certainly wasn’t expecting to see him here either.
I made sure to keep my distance from all of those Alphas, knowing how greedy and weedy they can be at most times.
I pushed my seat back and went to the waiting room to see what he had to say.
As soon as I got in, he stood up to show his respect, and 1 didn’t miss the daughter Madam Rosalie mentioned earlier.
I don’t want either of them to be here and I want them to be gone as quickly as they arrived
“Alpha Xander, he greeted me with a polite smile and I went to take my seat.
“I wasn’t expecting to see you here. What is going on?” I asked with a frown
“I apologize for showing up without any prior notice. I know you don’t like it, but since in here, allow me to introduce my daughter to you,” he pointed to the girl standing next to him and my eyes fell on her before looking away immediately
There was something about her that gave me this cerie feeling. Maybe it was because she was the complete opposite of the women 1 like. She had dark skin, with big eyes and a thick body.
I kept my gaze fixed on Alpha Gabriel, but I did not miss the way his daughter was staring at me, probably trying to gain my attention.
I understand if her father was here to ask for a favour, but why was she here!
“Okay, why are you here?” I asked, clearly not interested in all the formalities,
“I am well aware of your capability, Alpha Xander. You are the Alpha of Alphas and no one else can do things the way you do,” he began and 1 merely looked at him with a bored expression. The people I hate most in the world have to be those who use flattery to get what they want.
“Right. Can you get straight to the point?” I frowned and he cleared his throat.
“Of course. The main reason I am here is because I’d like us to form an alliance with your pack,” he finished and I scoffed in disbelief.
His daughter let out a throaty laugh, making me eye her in disgust and she sniffed hack her laugh, making a strange noise with her nose in the
process
Where does he replace such a weird daughter anyway?
“I know you replace this funny, but I need your help because you are the Alpha of all Alpha for a reason,” he added.
“Ir a quite unfortunate that I don’t like working with people, I can deal with any situation by myself, hence, I do not see the need for the alliance,” I pointed our
I understand that it is too early to get a response so I’ll give you a little time to think it through. I hope to get a positive reply from you soon,” he said with a smile and my gaze fell on his daughter who has been doing all sorts of things to gain my attention all along.
I don’t like her. It a nothing new that I don’t like people but something feels so wrong
g about this and I knew I didn’t like her immediately,
They excused themselves after saying what they w
y wanted and I simply watched them leave without offering to see them out.
Just then. Lord Williams came in and I gave him a look.
“I’ve prepared the men and we ar
