Chapter 63

XANDER

“Can someone explain what the hell happened here!” I growled out of annoyance. Why the hell on earth will the cell be empty after putting this amount of guards here to ensure that Alpha Laxwell never gets away!

A guard came rushing in and went on his knee as he shook with fear.

I asked a question! What the hell happened here? I glared at him and as he cowered on the floor.

“Forgive me, Alpha, but we were attacked by an unforeseen force, making it impossible for us to fight back,” the guard said, and I scoffed in disbelief.

“Unforeseen force? So now lying about unrealistic things to cover up your incompetence is the news scope!” I frowned as I glared at him.

No sir. 1 promise you.. we wouldn’t lie about such a thing. You can ask anyone that was present, sir. We were indeed attacked by an unforeseen force,” the guard stated and I twitched my face in disbelief.

“What force are you referring to? Tell me exactly what happened here or you will be risking your life. If I were you, I would think twice before I answer anything. I warned him.

We were standing in our position as usual when a strong wind began to blow, I found it weird because the weather seems normal and even if it wasn’t. I didn’t expect the wind to be that much, the guard inhaled sharply before he continued.

“One of us tried to replace out what was happening, but before we could get the chance, the wind got stronger. We lost our balance and the next thing I knew was we were all knocked out and when we finally gained consciousness, the Alpha was gone,” he finished

His words didn’t make any sense but judging from the way he shivered as he spoke. I could tell that he was still trying to comprehend what happened from the way goosebumps filled his skin..

“So you didn’t see anything else or catch a glimpse of anyone that could be playing a trick on you” I asked with a frown.

Such has never happened before and I found it ridiculous at the same time. What the hell does be mean by an unforeseen attack? Attached by a force? It sounds so unrealistic

“I was hard for me to take note of anything. Even before we were knocked out, the wind almost blinded us so I had to keep my eyes shut. It was only through a blurry vision I got to see the lock broken” he whimpered out of fear,

“It was like magic, Alpha. I watched the cuff released from Alpha Maxwell’s hands and there was no one in the room with him to help him get out. T am still in shock as we speak,” he shook nervously.

“Shut your trap and stop making up lies just to cover up with your incompetence. Lord Williams hissed. There is no such thing as magic and if you try to make up such nonsense again, you will be punished!”

I knew for su

sure that the guard wasn’t lying, but what I couldn’t sell was if someone played a prank on them or if they were drugged and all he thought he saw was just an illusion.

I have never heard of anyone using magic before in the pack. Not even when my father was still alive which made everything a little strange but seeing how the guards were visibly shaken by what happened, I knew there had to be more to this.

“Lord Williams.I called out, and he turned to look at me.

Yes, Alpha.”

“Investigate what happened here today and report back to me. While you are at it, make sure that Alpha Luxwell is found and brought back here at any cost. He couldn’t have gotten away by himself and even if he did, he doesn’t have anywhere else to go. Find out if he has returned back to his pack, I ordered.

I left the prison but I still couldn’t bring myself to let go of what the guard said. A lot was suspicious in the story and I just knew that I had to get to the bottom of the matter.

“Call Madam Rosalie for me, I ordered as I went into my study room

Soon enough, Madam Rosalie came in and bowed to show her respect.

“You

sena for me. Alpha,” she said as she stepped into the morn

“Dad you had something weird today? Did you perhaps notice something strange or out of the ordinary?” I asked as she remamed quiet as if she was thinking about

“Not exactly— Edidn’t see anyone aside from the guards and maids but I did feel something strange. It felt like someone was behind me, watching

me and when I turned back, I couldn’t replace anyone,” she said, making me even more suspicious.

“When did that happen! Explain further, I commanded

“I had just finished instructing the maids about what they would do once it’s daybreak and I was on my way back to my room when I felt as if someone was following me. At first. I thought maybe it was a maid, but I didn’t hear any footsteps which makes it even more strange, she muttered.

“I turned back to see who it was, but nobody was there. My heart skipped a beat because I was certain that someone was behind me, but instead. I saw a flower plant in front of me. I was sure the flower had never been there and I didn’t order anyone to put it there either, but it was there. Up until now, I still don’t know how it got there, she let out

“Something is wrong somewhere. 1 breathe out. “Alpha Luxwell also escaped from prison which was even more strange because the guards claimed that they didn’t see anyone other than an unseen force which attacked them

Madam Rosalie sighed as she was lost in her thoughts

“Tye heard stories of witches in the past and it was true that most of them exist. Witches make use of magic and all the stories are not myths. What I do not understand is why a witch would be among werewolves, she stated

“There is only one way to replace out about that. Research witches. How they operate and basically everything that needs to be known about them. You should be discreet about this. I ordered and she nodded.

Madam Rosalie excused herself after hearing my order and I returned b back to my room

Maliya was on the balcony, enjoying the night view which seems to be her favourite these days. She turned back as soon as she noticed my presence and a small smile spread across her face.

“Is everything okay? Is something bothering you? Your face looks a bit stressed?” She asked.

“It’s nothing really, I was just dealing with the pack work,” I said, dismissing the conversation. “Come here, let’s get some sleep,” I said and she nodded immediately.

I guess she was already sleepy because she fell asleep as soon as we climbed the bed. I couldn’t sleep a wink all night long as different thoughts invaded my thoughts

The festival is happening soon, yet, something strange is happening too. Why can’t I shake off the feeling that dangers are lurking around?
