Chapter 1008 All Dead

No sooner had Alex stepped out of Four Seas Corporation than he spotted a police car waiting at the entrance of the building. Without hesitation, he swung open the car door and climbed into the vehicle. "Did you really replace the location? And don't tell me you're going there alone," he said.

"No, I've already made a call to inform the higher-ups about the matter a moment ago. They said they'd send an elite team over to assist me shortly. The officers at the police station have already rushed over. I wanted you to tag along because I won't be so scared as long as you're there."

Elsa's voice grew increasingly softer as she spoke, her tone tinged with a hint of shyness.

At the sight of her bashful behavior, Alex did not quite know what to say.

Is she trying to mean that she regards me as someone reliable? Since she trusts me, I've got to help her deal with this matter. Besides, I'll be doing Nebula City a favor by ridding it of evil!

"It's okay. Quick, bring me there! Don't allow the police to make a move before ascertaining the other party's capabilities," Alex ordered.

Elsa dipped her head a fraction. "I know. On my way here, I've already told them to wait until I've arrived before making a move."

When they arrived at the location, they were both dumbstruck to see dead bodies littering the ground.

Bringing the car to a screeching stop, Elsa shot out a hand that was trembling violently. It was only after she had swung open the car door that she had a clear view of everything before her. Hot tears streamed down her face. She clapped a hand over her mouth and wept without suppressing the emotions within her.

In the past, she had always presented the image of a heroic and confident police officer. It was as though everything was a piece of cake to her, and she could resolve all problems.

The impression she gave others had always been strong and brave. In fact, she was even more outstanding than men, not the least bit inferior in comparison.

However, right then, she wailed uncontrollably, her body trembling incessantly. Her tough self in the past was all but gone.

In the face of such a horrifying scene, a flash of hatred glinted in Alex's eyes. He went over to her and patted her on the shoulder in consolation. "This isn't the time to be sad. You should stay strong. Elsa paid no mind to his words, shaking her head profusely. All of a sudden, she pushed him away and stumbled back helplessly,

"If I hadn't left them. If I stayed here with them, would things have ended differently? If L..." Elsa muttered while crying her heart out, the regret in her voice so thick that it threatened to swallow her whole. All the dead bodies with their organs removed on the ground were her colleagues in the past. They were all fired up and energetic just an hour ago, vowing to apprehend the perpetrators. However, they were all dead then, murdered. Their mutilated bodies were only left there because the perpetrators were challenging the police.

Taking two steps forward, Alex grabbed her shoulders and instructed loudly, "Calm down, Elsa. How are you going to avenge them in your current condition? What you need to do right now is to bring the perpetrators behind this incident to justice, not wallow in grief here."

In truth, he felt that she would not have survived either if she had stayed behind.

Tears continued pouring down Elsa's face. Nonetheless, she had already gradually calmed down. She instinctively clutched at the gun at her waist.

"I beg you, Alex. You must help me arrest the perpetrators, okay?" she implored in a choked voice.

Alex gave a firm nod of agreement. Even if she had not asked that of him, he would still have helped in the

matter.
