Chapter 1084 Set Things In Stone
t that comfortable. Given that we are relatives and that we've come all the way from Horington, shouldn't you at least invite us to your house? Besides, why would you waste money paying for us to stay here? I'm sure it isn't cheap. I'm guessing it costs at least ten thousand a night? I know money doesn't come easy for you too. Since the Jones residence is huge, it shouldn't be an issue to spare us one room. Don't worry, we'll make do with it," Horace said righteously.
Even though it sounded as if he had Stefan's best interests at heart, it was clear that Horace was plotting something.
Wesley's dissatisfaction became evident as he listened to his father's explanation. Why did Dad say that? It's so comfortable staying at a five-star hotel! I love the king-sized bed and the enormous bathtub! "Dad, I want to stay at the five-star hotel!" Wesley tugged at Horace's sleeves and uttered in an upset tone.
Feeling disappointed at his son's immaturity, Horace pinched Wesley's arm and said in a hushed tone, "I'm doing this for your future! Stop complaining and just go along with what I say!" Wesley stopped throwing a fit at once and stood quietly on the spot while watching his father,
"Stefan, just get your servants to prepare any two rooms for us. Although I'm your cousin, you don't have to go out of your way to make sure we're comfortable. I'm sure you won't mistreat us," Horace said with a smile.
Stefan knew that even if he had disagreed, Horace would have come up with another excuse to follow him home, in hopes of replaceing something valuable there.
Other than ignoring the shameless rogue, there was nothing Stefan could do. As such, he turned away and got into the car with Autumn.
From the rear-view mirror, Stefan could see Horace and his son following them, and he let out a helpless sigh.
Autumn had also noticed Horace's Audi trailing behind them. A sense of frustration washed over her as she looked toward her father and said, "Dad, are they really going to stay at our house? I don't want to see them ever again, not even for a single second!"
"I know, but what else can we do? Let's just hope that they would leave soon. It wouldn't be wise to offend people like them as there's no telling what they would do when provoked. If they go around spreading rumors about our family, even if they are baseless, our reputation would still take a hit, and our company' stocks would fall," Stefan replied in exasperation.
Autumn understood exactly what her father was talking about and could feel anger thrumming through her veins. Does that mean we have to give in to them and endure their ridiculous behavior? Horace and Wesley had been there for barely a day and had already started showing their true colors. Autumn could not help but shudder at the thought of what else they might do in the days to come! Upon arriving at the Jones residence, Stefan got out of the car and headed to his room without paying any attention to Horace. Clearly, he did not welcome the uninvited guest. However, Horace and Wesley couldn't care less about the man's cold attitude. Since Stefan did not get the rooms ready for them, Horace personally instructed the servants to prepare two of the best rooms in the house for him and his son.
At midnight, Horace, who was sleeping in his bed, suddenly opened his eyes and took out something from his bag. At the same time, a hint of slyness flashed past his eyes. After getting dressed, he headed to Wesley's room with the item in hand. Wesley was in a deep slumber when he was suddenly woken up and could feel anger building up in him. However, when he saw that it was his father, his curiosity was aroused. Rubbing his eyes, he asked groggily, "Dad, what are you doing in my room so late at night? Why aren't you sleeping?" Horace let out a frustrated sigh before hitting his son on the head and saying. "You stupid fool! Do you really think I gave up staying at the five-star hotel and came here just to save money for the Jones family?"
Wesley had no clue what his father was talking about. Still feeling confused, he asked curiously, "Dad, why did we come here then?"
Straight after he finished speaking, a hand landed heavily on his head. Wesley cried out in pain and cradled his head as if he was anticipating another strike from his father.
Anyone witnessing the scene would not have guessed that Wesley was already a twenty-eight-year-old grown adult as he was behaving just like a kid.
"Of course, it's because of Autumn! Besides the fact that she's gorgeous, she's also the only daughter of the Jones family. How can we let that good-for-nothing have her?"
Horace was smoking with anger inside as he spoke, feeling disappointed at his cousin's lack of foresight. He was sure that if he was the one managing the Jones family, they would have been thriving.
With that in mind, Horace fished out the item he had brought with him and placed it in Wesley's hand. instructing the latter, "Take this and sneak into Autumn's room. Make sure you do it right and set things in stone!"
