Chapter 1226 He Could Be My Father

Having two weddings in a year has almost worn out Alex's expectations for marriage. This time, he was only doing it to give Kate and Emmalyn a legitimate status.

The wedding was kept simple. It was neither fairytale-esque nor fantastical. Despite its simplicity, Alex had no intention of shortchanging Kat. After all, this was her first time holding a wedding. Alex then booked the best five-star hotel in Nebula City and instructed Jack to arrange for everything while he started busying away with the task of refining elixirs.

News of the remarriage quickly reached Heather, who was quickly filled with intense. jealousy.

Heather had been hung about how Kate showed up at Alex and Maggie's wedding with her child. However, she never got the chance to see Kate again. Now, she was hearing about thei wedding. During this period, Heather had many suitors expressing their love for her, including sons from wealthy families. Her beauty remained her greatest asset despite having been married and having a child. However, Heather had never been able to let go of Alex. When she was with him in the past, she found Alex to be utterly disappointing and annoying no matter how she looked at him. But now that she had truly lost him, she missed him and was filled with regret. The possessiveness in her was why she felt that way.

"Heather, why are you still in your room? Come out and walk around. Mr. Watson came looking for you again today. You can see how sincere he is! Why don't you accompany him for a walk?" Carmen said as she pushed open the door to Heather's room.

Without even sparing Carmen a glance, Heather simply covered her head with the quilt, deciding to ignore her completely.

Feeling a little exasperated, Carmen walked over and sat on the bed. She gently patted Heather and advised, "Heather, you're not getting any younger, are you? Even though you've been divorced once, you're still extremely beautiful. It would be a piece of cake for you to marry a rich man. You can't always stay at home and remain a single woman! You should get out and about. Look, Mr. Dexter Watson is quite a good catch."

Heather couldn't bear to listen to Carmen any longer. She threw off her blanket and sneered at Carmen. "Are you really that eager to see me get married?"

Carmen said cheerfully, "I wish I could keep you by my side for a few more years! But Mr. Watson is a good choice. His family is in real estate, and he has a net worth of over a billion!"

"A good choice?" Heather let out a cold laugh as she looked indifferently at Carmen, "He's nearly fifty. He's old enough to be my father, and yet, you want me to marry him. Aren't yo just trying to sell me off to get money for you and Lucas? I know what you're planning."

The Dexter Watson that Carmen was talking about was a real estate businessman. He was rather well-known in Nebula City. The man was forty-seven this year-about the same age a Carmen-and he had two

sons.

Carmen was flustered when Heather read her mind. "What do you mean by this, Heather? Regardless of everything, I'm only thinking about this for your sake. Mr. Watson is indeed. the wealthiest among all your suitors. If you marry him, you'll be spared from hardship."

"Marry him yourself if you can't handle the hardship! After all, you two are about the same age. You'll have plenty to talk about," Heather shot back without hesitation.

"Heather, what are you talking about? If he had taken a liking to me, I would have married him long ago. But he doesn't fancy me, so there's nothing I can do about it. Heather, get married for my and your brother's sake. We can't possibly continue living in such a small rental house, can we? It's not even as big as our previous villa. There's no room to stretch our legs," Carmen said, feeling very aggrieved. Having been accustomed to a life of luxury, she found it hard to cope with sudden destitution. In order to survive, she had no choice but to replace a job. Now, she was so exhausted from working all day. Her arms and legs felt like they were falling apart.

All that Lucas did every day was gaming. He was completely unreliable, so Carmen could only place all her hopes on Heather.

"All of this is your own doing. You can't blame anyone else for our current situation. And, for the record, I'm not marrying." Heather said with a firm tone.
