Chapter 1237 It Is All Too Late Now

"What do think is going on between Mr. Watson and me? Besides, whatever happens between us has nothing to do with you. You're about to marry Kate. Is it really appropriate for you to pry into your ex-wife's personal affairs?"

At first, Heather was somewhat touched when she heard Alex expressing concern for her, a sign that he still had lingering feelings toward her. However, she couldn't help but feel angry when she recalled the intimate scene between Alex and Kate in the private room.

"If that's the case, I won't interfere in your affairs anymore. Do as you see fit, but remember you have a son. Try to preserve your dignity for his sake." With that, Alex turned and left without even sparing Heather a glance.

Heather's words were borne out of anger. She never thought saying them would infuriate Alex to the extent of him storming off, an action she had now come to regret.

If I were to confide in Alex about this matter, perhaps he could help me out. That way, I wouldn't have to demean myself by keeping Mr. Watson company, nor would I have to sell my own body. Gritting her teeth, Heather called out loudly to Alex's departing figure, "Alex, can I ask you for one last favor? Lend me five hundred thousand! My brother owes Mr. Watson five hundred thousand. If I don't do as he says, he'll have Lucas thrown in jail. I really don't have any other option. Can you please help me?"

Looking at Flynn, Alex asked, "I didn't bring any money when I came out. Do you have any on you?"

Without any hesitation, Flynn pulled out a card from his pocket and said, "Alex, you're really lucky. Today, Frank gave me a million to take him in. The money in this card is exactly what he gave me." Taking the card handed over by Flynn, Alex walked up to Heather and said, "Here, take it! Your family is like a bottomless pit, they won't stop until they've sucked everything out of you. I'm only going to say this once. From now on, I won't get involved in your affairs."

After giving the money to Heather, Alex turned around to leave with Flynn following closely behind. The two did not return to their KTV private room and instead left directly. Alex sent a message to Kate, saying he was in a bad mood and wanted to go home.

Since Alex had left, Kate no longer had any reason to stay. She casually made an excuse and left.

Dexter wanted to persuade her to stay, but Kate completely ignored him. Not only did he fail to strike a business deal, but he also didn't manage to befriend Kate. It was simply a waste for him to spend so much money on such an expensive private room.

"Why the hell hasn't Heather, that wretched woman, come back yet? Is she planning to leave me here and go back on her own?" Dexter picked up a cup from the table and furiously hurled it to the ground. As that wasn't enough to vent his anger, Dexter pushed open the door of the private room, intending to replace Heather and take out his frustration on her.

As soon as the door to the private room was opened, Heather was seen returning with an extremely gloomy look on her face. Dexter initially thought she was a great beauty, but after realizing how easily attainable this beauty was, he lost all interest.

He reached out and grabbed Heather's hair, pulling her into the private room. He yelled, "Where the hell have you been, you despicable woman? Have you been seducing other men? Don't you know that you're mine now? You should be obedient and listen to me, understand?"

Heather could no longer hold back her emotions. How dare this old man humiliate me as if I'm not human just because Lucas owes him five hundred thousand?

Now that Alex had given her a card with a million on it, she had the money to pay him back and no longer had to swallow her pride like before.

Holding that thought, Heather slapped Dexter across the face. "What's the big deal about me owing you five hundred thousand? I'll pay you back right now. Don't think that having money gives you the right to do whatever you want. You're not only just an old man but also selfish, self-righteous, and lecherous. You're nothing compared to Alex."

Heather lashed out with everything she had been hiding in her heart.

"You wretched woman, how dare you lay a hand on me! Are you daring me to get your brother thrown in jail? If your family had half a million, you wouldn't be living in a rented house, would you? Just you wait! Your brother is definitely going to jail!"

After leaving the scathing remark, Dexter left. Determined to put Lucas behind bars, he was now on his way to hire a lawyer to sue the former.

Heather was not scared of Lucas being sued at all. Now that she had a million in her hands, she could simply repay the money Lucas previously owed him.

Looking at the card in her hand, Heather couldn't help but think of Alex. If only she could turn back time, she would definitely hold onto him tightly for the rest of her life, not letting go no matter what. Unfortunately, it was all too late...
