Chapter 1246 Haunted

The man standing to the side was utterly dumbfounded, his mouth agape in disbelief. It took him quite a while to regain his composure before he finally turned his head to look at Alex.

He swallowed nervously and said, "You... You're really from the Elysian Guild! That's... That's quite impressive."

With a faint smile playing at the corners of his mouth, Alex said, "Now do you believe that I'm a capable person and not some swindler from the streets?"

The man nodded awkwardly, still in shock from the astonishing display he had just witnessed. Alex's powerful strike had surpassed his imagination; it was something an ordinary person couldn't have accomplished.

The one thing that puzzles me is why he would break the gates to the Elysian Guild so nonchalantly. After all, he is from the Mountain of the Beasts, is he not? Isn't he afraid of being blamed by Elysian Master? The man hesitated for a moment before finally speaking up. "The gate..."

Alex waved his hand dismissively and said, "No worries, it's not a big deal. Elysian Master has plenty of resources, and they can easily replace the gates."

While he maintained a casual demeanor, deep inside, he couldn't help but smirk. Those scoundrels from the Mountain of the Beasts not only harmed my father but also kidnapped my son, forcing me to come to this place. Now, they're even hiding and avoiding me. Well, consider my breaking the gates as a small lesson for the Elysian Guild, then!

Alex swore that he would wreak havoc on the Elysian Guild should they fail to return Stanley to him safely.

Upon hearing what Alex had to say, the man didn't inquire any further. All he wanted to know was whether Alex was truly capable, and now that it was confirmed, he felt reassured.

If, by any chance, this man turns out to be a fraudster swindling some money from me, it might not be a major issue. The real concern is that if the problem remains unresolved and word gets out, not only will my house become unsuitable for me to live in, but no one will dare to buy it in the future.

On the way back, Alex got to know the full details of the situation.

The man's name was Quade Laith, and he was a local resident. After graduating from university, he found a job in the city and got married to his girlfriend after working for a few years.

The couple were honest folks who had never done anything morally reprehensible. Their life after marriage was fairly good, and they were quite affectionate toward each other.

One week ago, on a particular night, Quade's wife got up to use the restroom. As she switched on the light, she was taken aback to see a little girl wearing a red dress wandering around the living room. The girl seemed to move aimlessly until she suddenly vanished by passing through a wall and then reappeared from the other side.

The sight of the little girl gave Quade's wife quite the scare, so much so that she fainted on the spot and had to be hospitalized for a few days.

Ever since his wife fell ill, Quade spent those days taking care of her in the hospital. He initially thought that his wife had merely experienced some hallucinations. After all, there was no such thing as demons and monsters in this world.

However, one day, when he returned home to fetch some clothes, he was shocked to replace the little girl in the red dress wandering around his house.

Quade was naturally timid, and encountering a ghost for the first time in his twenty-plus years of life had him scared out of his wits. However, unlike his wife, he managed to hold himself together and didn't faint from fright on the spot.

He fled the room in a panic, but he couldn't just leave the clothes behind. Despite his trembling nerves, he knew he had to gather the courage to go back inside and retrieve them.

Because it was broad daylight, Quade felt slightly braver, which compelled him to summon his courage and rush back inside the room.

Later, he noticed that the ghostly girl in red seemed completely oblivious to his presence, passing by him several times without any reaction or attempt to harm him.

He came to the realization that the ghostly girl appeared trapped in a repetitive cycle. Only at three in the afternoon and nine in the evening would she manifest before wandering aimlessly around the house. Even so, his wife refused to stay in the house any longer and, in a fit of anger, went back to her parent's home. While she had the option to seek refuge with her parents, Quade had no other place to go. Terrified to stay in the haunted house, he had no choice but to replace a small hotel near his workplace to stay in. While the hotel didn't have any supernatural entities, the constant noise from people coming and going at all hours, combined with poor soundproofing, made it impossible for him to get a good night's sleep.

He considered switching to a nicer hotel, but the daily expenses there would amount to hundreds, which was way beyond his means as a low-level employee earning just a little over a hundred per day. It simply wouldn't be cost-effective to continue like this.

After staying in the hotel for two days, Quade realized that he needed to address the issue at its root. As such, right after work, he came to the Mountain of the Beasts, hoping to seek help from Elysian Master. Little did he expect to encounter Alex during his visit.
