"What? You killed Samson Morrison?"

Gabriel's expression underwent a huge change. He was completely flabbergasted and not willing to believe Alex's words.

Delmont's face was a twisted mask of surprise as well. As they all knew, Samson was Lumenopolis' well-known Master of martial arts. And yet, Alex had killed him. The ludicrousness of the entire situation made Delmont wonder if Alex was just joking with them.

"If you don't believe me, we can always pay the Morrisons a visit," Alex said sarcastically.

Looking at Alex suspiciously, both Gabriel and Delmont went through an internal struggle as they didn't know what to say.

Alex just ignored them. He was very disappointed with his uncle and cousin, to the point that he felt no pity for them.

He turned back to look at his grandfather. "How much is the Morton family still worth?"

"What market worth can we still have?" Hugo sighed heavily, a bitter smile on his face. "Our family might be going bankrupt in three days. Even if we make it past that, Morton Corporation won't be worth a damn anymore."

Jeanne sighed quietly as well. In just eight short years, the Mortons had gone from a powerful family with a market worth of more than ten billion to the sorry state they were in now. It was a tragedy. After a moment's thought, Alex said, "Grandpa, I'm going to invest five billion to buy fifty-one percent of Morton Corporation's stocks."

"Are you serious, Alex? With this five billion, we can pay off our debts to the bank and keep the company project. That still leaves us with three billion for the company's cash flow too. This might even be the key to helping the Morton family rise again!" Hugo said with a sense of excitement in his voice.

He truly believed that Alex was wealthy. Rumor had it that was the reason why Susan was so determined to track Alex down. According to the furtive news, Alex's father transferred hundreds of billions of the Jefferson family's fortune under Alex's name.

"Alex, are you serious about this?" Jeanne looked at Alex with surprise. She was rather delighted.

Gabriel and Delmont stared at Alex in disbelief as well. If Alex was willing to invest that five billion in their company, then their family would no longer be in any imminent danger of being declared bankrupt. They could even start planning and preparing for their eventual return to power.

Alex nodded, "I'm serious, Grandma. I can transfer the money to all of you by today, but I have one

condition."

"Just tell us about it," Jeanne said. Everyone focused their attention on Alex with looks of eager anticipation on their faces.

Alex's gaze swept past Gabriel and Delmont but landed squarely on Reine.

"My only condition is that Reine must be named as the executive director of the company. She may not have any experience in directing a company, so I'll have to request that you take some time to teach her everything she should know before you retire," Alex said to Hugo firmly.

All of Gabriel and Delmont's thoughts suddenly dissolved into incoherent white noise. It was as if they were struck by lightning, ugly expressions appeared on their faces as they finally realized what had happened. Alex was determined to remove them from the game.

"Alex, I don't think I can do that! I'll do well enough as a manager. You should let Uncle Gabriel or Delmont be the executive director. I can't manage the entire company." Reine shook her head at Alex quickly. However, Reine was perfectly competent at managing a company, She just refused to be caught in a power struggle over the company with Uncle Gabriel's family.

After her father passed away, Reine started working hard to improve her leadership skills. Now, her management skills had far exceeded that of Delmont's.

But she knew that as a mere girl, there was no hope in her being able to win against Uncle Gabriel's family. She was also perfectly aware that Grandpa and Grandma would not hand over Morton Corporation to her as well.

Hugo and Jeanne found themselves faced with a dilemma as well. After all, they placed most of their hopes in Gabriel and his son because Reine was bound to marry someone else at some point.

After a moment of silent consideration, Hugo finally spoke. "Alex, Reine will be married in a few years. She won't be able to focus on managing the company then. Besides, constantly changing the company leader will also cause unrest among the management staffs."

Reine's expression remained unchanged, but her grandfather's words still made her feel slightly upset. Her grandfather's conservative mindset was a typical example of patriarchal thinking. For the first time, Reine found herself bitterly wished to be born a boy.

Without any hesitation, Alex just delivered his killing stroke impatiently. "Look, I just want equity of the 51% of the shares. You don't have to distribute any of the dividends to me, and I won't interfere in the management of the company. However, I just can't stand the sight of Uncle Gabriel and his family. I don't care how much of the dividends they receive, but I don't want them to control Morton Corporation. I'll give you some time to think about this, Grandpa."
