Chapter 837 I Will Pay For Everything
Meanwhile, at Welfare Mall, Carmen cleared her throat and said, "Ladies, I'll pay for all your purchases today. Don't worry about money and buy whatever you like."
Hearing that, her group of friends ran around the mall like a pack of hungry wolves. They took whatever they thought looked good without even thinking of helping Carmen to save money.
They became friends through dance class. With Carmen's selfishness, it was impossible for her to have any true friends.
Recently that group of women had started to butter up to her after noticing she was rich. They wanted nothing but to gain some benefits from her.
At first, Carmen felt her heart ache when she saw them take whatever they saw. However, when she slid her hand into her pocket and gripped the card that had nine billion in it, she heaved a sigh of relief.
Because of that enormous amount of money, she suddenly felt that the way those women grabbed whatever they saw was petty and shameful.
"Madam, you and your friends took so many items. Will you be able to afford all of them? These are branded clothing. Each piece is worth thousands!"
A beautiful sales assistant stepped forward when she saw a group of women looking to be in their fifties enter the store and grab handfuls of clothes. They either wanted to try them on or said they wanted to buy the clothes, but she did not believe in them.
The clothes they have on are not branded and look so casual They look like they would bargain with a vendor who sells vegetables at the market for a head of lettuce. There's no way they would buy clothes worth thousands a piece without batting an eyelash. It would be a massive loss if they spoiled any of these clothes. I might even lose my job if the manager comes and see them like this.
"What do you mean by that? Are you looking down on us?" one of the women who arrived with Carmen asked as she pointed accusingly at the sales assistant.
The sales assistant replied coldly, "I meant what I said. Look at the clothes you're wearing. I'm sure they're cheap goods that are not worth more than twenty a piece. How will you afford these branded clothes worth thousands?"
The middle-aged woman was furious when she heard that. She retorted, "You're just a young girl working as a sales assistant. How dare you look down on us? We're here to buy clothes today. What's that saying about customers? Oh, yeah, treat each customer as though they are royalty."
The sales assistant no longer wanted to argue with the woman. She scoffed and said, "Fine, then. Since you put it that way, try on whatever you like. However, once you try it on, you must buy it. If you can't pay for it, then don't blame me for reporting you to the police."
She had intended on chasing out that group of troublemaking women. She did not expect them to get -fired up with what she said as they tried on whatever they laid their eyes on. They immediately asked the sales assistant to bag the clothes if they fit into them.
The sales assistant's expression turned grim as she continued playing along and helped them to place the clothes into shopping bags. She wanted to see if they could really pay such a large amount when settling the bill.
The sales assistant carefully calculated the price of everything before staring coldly at the group of
women. "Your total comes up to two hundred and forty-eight thousand five hundred and forty-two. Would you like to pay by cash or card?"
Just a few minutes before, she had instructed the security guards to stand by at the entrance. If she screamed, they would immediately send those women to the police station.
"About two hundred and forty thousand? Why is it so expensive?" One of the women was in shock as she asked her friend, her gaze sweeping across the mountains of paper bags before them.
"I know, right? We bought so little, yet it costs that much." The other woman was also shocked. She quickly grabbed the bag filled with dozens of the clothes she had bought.
Judging from their expressions, the sales assistant immediately knew that her guess was correct. I knew it. These people don't have that much money. They're just here to cause trouble.
She held up a hand, ready to call for the security guards at the entrance to send those women to the police station when Carmen pushed her way to the counter and held her head high, staring arrogantly at the sales assistant.
"I'll pay for them!"
