Chapter 884 Shall We Get Married

On the way to the amusement park, Stannis, who was driving, was in a good mood and kept conversing with Alex.

"Alex, I still haven't got to know about your hometown and what you do for a living." asked Stannis.

"I'm from Nebula City. I'm not working right now, I used to be a live-in son-in-law, but my divorced me a few days ago," replied Alex nonchalantly.

Stannis was stunned at Alex's answer. He did not believe him, but Alex did not look like he was lying.

In comparison to Lumenopolis, Nebula City is a much smaller city. And what did he mean by he was a live-in son-in-law?

Stannis had assumed Alex was an heir of a prestigious family in Lumenopolis. But there was no reason for Alex to lie in front of Stanley. It seemed like it was a fact that he was a live-in son-in-law.

"Divorce is not a big deal. Look, you have Ms. Grant as your pretty girlfriend now! may I ask where you are from?" Stannis switched the focus to Maggie.

"Lumenopolis," answered Maggie matter-of-factly.

Stannis was elated when he heard "Lumenopolis." It meant that his gamble did not f misjudged Maggie as being less affluent.

To think such a beautiful woman fell in love with a man who lives off women and has a five-year-ol Alex knows a bit of martial arts, it does not make sense for a pretty lady like Maggie to cheapen herself.

A thought suddenly emerged in Stannis' mind. If I work extra hard now, perhaps I'll be able to win Mag heart with my abilities someday.

"Ms. Grant, since you're from Lumenopolis and Alex is from Nebula City, how did you meet him? Could you tell me more about your romantic encounter?" Stannis said with a laugh.

Maggie looked at Alex lovingly when she heard the question. Memories brought her to the time she was selecting a Compass at Portabello Street.

Time flew, and more than a year had passed since then. Initially, she only admired Alex. But now, she was hopelessly in love with him.

Perhaps this was meant to be; it was only a matter of time before she fell in love with an outstanding mant like Alex.

"Alex, shall we get married after this trip?" Maggie could not contain her emotions and blurted out the question.

At that moment, Stannis was shocked by Maggie's words and stepped hard on the brakes, bringing the car to an abrupt stop.

Alex reacted fast and quickly hugged Stanley, cushioning him from the impact with the seat in front of him. Maggie also knocked into the seat in front, but luckily it did not hurt much.

"I'm so sorry. I didn't do that on purpose," Stannis apologized profusely. "I didn't notice the traffic light had turned red, so I braked late."

"Be more careful next time," Alex cautioned in a deep voice. He then turned toward Maggie and asked, "Are you okay?"

Maggie nodded. She was all right physically but felt a bit upset as her conversation with Alex was interrupted.

She could not bring herself to bring up the question again due to embarrassment, and she also lost the impulse to do so,

Meanwhile, Stannis heaved a deep sigh of relief. He panicked earlier when he heard Maggie's marriage proposal as he just decided to court her.

A lack of response from Alex gave Stannis confidence. It meant he still stood a high chance of winning Maggie over.

This was especially so as he felt no less inferior to Alex. When he courted Daphne back then, he spent significant effort learning how to please women. He had faith that those tactics would work on Maggie too.

Thus, he planned to bring Maggie shopping after the trip to the amusement park and buy her some gifts. After all, he had two hundred thousand on hand; he could afford to splurge a bit.

Just as Stannis was daydreaming about his wonderful plans with Maggie, Alex suddenly spoke.

"If I'm still alive by the time we return to Nebula City, let's get married."

Tears of joy streamed down Maggie's face when she heard Alex's reply. If it were not for Stanley sitting between them, she would have hugged Alex tightly right then.
