Chapter 917 Serves You Right

It was already the third day, and yet. Lucas still hadn't come up with one hundred million. He got so stressed out and desperate that he wished he could sell his mother off in exchange for money. I'll be done for if Dmitri's men come over, so I can't stay here and wait for my doom!

With that in mind, Lucas packed his things and prepared to hide overseas for a while. He planned on waiting for the incident to blow over before returning and starting a new life.

"Bring me with you, Lucas! I don't want to stay here all by myself! I get really lonely without you around Carmen pleaded while tugging at Lucas' sleeve.

As though she wasn't his mother, Lucas kicked her down to the floor and shouted heartlessly. "It's your fault that I have to go into hiding! I'll never forgive you for this, you hear me? Never!" Carmen broke down crying and jabbed a finger at Lucas as she protested, "Have you no heart, Lucas? I'm your mother! I gave birth to you and raised you! How could you treat me like this?" "It's precisely because I'm your son that I'm in this terrible situation today! It's your fault Heather divorced Alex! You drove a wedge between them, so you deserve everything that happens to you as a result!" Lucas snapped back at her.

He then turned around and got ready to leave the house. Just as he was planning to hail a taxi to the airport, a group of men blocked his path outside the door.

A bald man with his body covered in tattoos grabbed Lucas by the shoulder and asked in a threatening tone, "Where do you think you're going with those suitcases, Lucas? Are you planning on running away without paying the one hundred million? You're pretty rich, aren't you? What do you take me for, huh?"

Lucas was so terrified by the sight of Dmitri and his men that he slumped weakly to the ground with a loud thud.

"P-Please don't get the wrong idea, Dmitri! I-I-I would never dare run away!" he stammered while bowing his head submissively.

Naturally, Dmitri did not believe a word Lucas said. He then waved at his men, prompting them to surround Lucas and Carmen.

Lucas was close to tears at that point. Realizing that his fate was sealed, he turned around and shot Carmen a vicious glare. Had she not wasted my time just now, I would've been on the way to the airport by now!

Dmitri grabbed Lucas by the hair and pulled him to his feet as he asked, "Your three days are up, so J shouldn't you be paying me my money?"

Lucas grimaced in pain, feeling as though his scalp would be ripped off along with his hair, but he didn't dare utter a word in protest.

"O-Of course I'd pay you the money, Dmitri! My brother-in-law is the chairman of Four Seas Corporation! That guy is practically made of money! I'll take you to him right away, so could you please let go of me?"

Lucas was left without a choice. He knew that Dmitri would surely kill him if he couldn't pay up, and he certainly did not want to die at such a young age.

Dmitri released his grip on Lucas' hair and shot him an amused look. "You're not messing with me, are

you? I've heard of that good-for-nothing brother-in-law of yours! He's infamous in Nebula City for being a total loser! Do you think you're being funny or something?"

Noticing the displeased frown on Dmitri's face, his men proceeded to beat Lucas up.

"You've got some guts messing with Dmitri, punk!"

"Yeah! I'll beat you to death for that, you piece of sh*t!" they yelled while raining punches and kicks upon him.

It pained Carmen deeply to see her son get beaten up like that. She crawled up to Dmitri and tugged at his pant leg as she pleaded, "My son is telling the truth, Dmitri! My son-in-law really is the chairman of Four Seas Corporation! He would never dare lie to you! Please have your men stop the beating! He'll die if you guys continue hitting him!"

Dmitri then motioned at his men to stop the beating and said, "In that case, take me to Four Seas Corporation right away. If this turns out to be a lie, I will have you both chopped into pieces!"
