Chapter 20. Party

Briana POV

When the car stopped outside our home, Marcus got out first to open the back passenger door and help the kids. But the nannies were faster.

They already unstrapped the triplets from their seats, so when Marcus opened the door, they all jumped up at him, giggling.

They clung to Marcus before they slid down his body one by one and ran toward the house.

The nannies ran after them, leaving Marcus and me outside. Careful children!” Marcus shouted his reminder after the kids. scampered off toward the big mansion we recently relocated to.

I looked at my sons as they ran away and felt a twinge of pain in my heart.

The first time I saw Noah after five years was a shock. He looks. the same, but not the same. It must be because I never really knew him.com

I thought I knew, but I was wrong.

“Let’s go to the playroom.” I heard one of my sons, Riley, shout, pulling me out of my trance.

Then, I watched as his brothers Brix and Mason nodded in

agreement.

Seeing the kids happy puts a wistful smile on my face.

I looked at my brother. He hadn’t moved a muscle and was looking

straight back at me.

“I saw their father. He was also one of the guests today.” I reported to Marcus when I reached him.

My brother nodded.

“I know. I saw Noah when he followed you outside. But when he saw me, he hid behind a wall.”

My eyes widened in surprise.

“Did he see the kids?”

My breath hitched as something akin to fear gripped me. Then, my heart started pounding fast.

When Marcus shook his head, I felt a little better.

“I don’t think so. They were inside the vehicle the whole time.”

I nodded, breathing in to fill my lungs with air.

Five years ago, when I gave birth to the triplets, I promised myself that I would never allow Noah to meet them.

He divorced me. He accused me of a crime I didn’t commit. He

does not deserve my children.

But looking at my kids now, my heart is at war with my head. I feel that I am punishing my kids for what their father did to me.

Yeah, they are not asking for their father yet. It must be because my four brothers provided the father figure they needed growing up. But it was not the same thing as knowing their biological dad.

Marcus must have sensed what was bugging me. He slung his arm around my shoulders as if to comfort me.

In response, I leaned my head on his shoulder.

“Do you want him to know about your children?” He pried.

I shook my head as indecision mats my face.

“I don’t know. A part of me wanted to. I do not want to deny the kids their father, but considering the circumstances, I think Noah knowing about his kids now would just muddle our lives.”

Marcus tapped my shoulder. “Why not test the waters first?”

I don’t understand what he was trying to say. How can you casually approach someone who broke you and stripped you of everything?

“Test the waters, as in I have to be the first one to reach out to Noah?” I shook my head no. Just the mere thought of it gives me the creeps.

“I don’t think I can brazenly approach him. We did not part amicably.” I told my brother bitterly.

I was surprised when he smiled enigmatically at me before. handing me a fancy envelope he plucked from the inner pocket of his coat.

“What is this?” I asked in curiosity while opening the flap of the envelope to pull out the card inside.

“That, my dear sister, is an invitation to Matt Bryant’s 60th birthday celebration at Hunter Hotel.” He told me.

I bit my lip in concentration when I read that it was an invitation to the Fords.

Chapter 20 Party

“I don’t want to go.” My nose twitched, remembering what Matt Bryant did to me five years ago.

He humiliated me in front of everyone.

“We have to. It’s a business invite. They are reaching out to us as the newest player in the Redwood business circle. If we ditch the party, it will look like we snubbed their goodwill. Not good for our business, sis.”

“But I don’t think I can face Matt Bryant. What if he humiliates me again?” I shuddered at the thought.

Marcus puts his hands on my shoulders. When our eyes met, I could see anger simmering in his eyes and cringed inwardly.

“You don’t have to worry about anything because I will be with you. at the party. I won’t let anyone hurt you again.” His declaration. eased my worries somewhat, but not totally.
