Me: Why are you doing this?

I wake up with a start. What was that strange dream?

Stiles: Hannah? Is everything okay?

I turn to him. I’d forgotten that my hand was still in his since I fell asleep. Feeling him next to me calms me down and I look down at our entwined fingers. I’m really lucky to have him by my side.

Stiles: Hannah?

Me: Oh! Um… Yeah, I’m fine. Just a weird bad dream.

He nods unconvinced and looks out the window.

Stiles: Are you coming?

I look out the window and see where he’s taken me.

Me: We’re… By the sea!

He smiles

Stiles: You already told me you wanted to go. As we’re on holiday, now’s the time, isn’t it?

I smile

Me: That’s a great idea, Stiles.

We get out of the car and walk towards the sea. I take off my shoes and socks and put my feet in the water.

Me: It’s freezing!

He laughs

Stiles: Yeah I didn’t have enough petrol to drive to the Caribbean, sorry

I laugh

Me: That’s OK, I’d settle for that!

He laughs. I rest my head on his shoulder to enjoy the moment but Stiles grabs me and lifts me off the ground with his hands under my knees and neck. I grab his neck and pull him against me, knowing full well what he’s going to do.

Me: Stiles, I know what you want to do and I strongly advise against it!

He laughs and moves further into the water and I hold on tighter to his neck.

Stiles: I’ll take my chances since you no longer have that advantage over me!

Me: I’ve still got my fists and they’re pretty painful!

Stiles: I’d better run fast then

Me: What?

He drops me and I end up… On the sand? I laugh. He was just pretending then

Me: I was so scared!

Stiles: Hannah?

I stand up a bit to look at him. He looks completely worried.

Me: Yes?

Stiles: I threw you in the water but…

Me: What?

I look around. The water is hanging all around me like an invisible wall is keeping it from moving.

Me: We have to go back to Beaconhills…

3 hours later

Stiles had to tie my hands during the drive because my powers were out of control and things in the car were flying around. Scott arrives at the veterinary clinic at the same time as us and the three of us go into the room.

Deaton: What’s happening? Why is she tied up?!

Stiles: Because of her!

He unties my hands and things are flying around. Why does this have to happen to me?! I’d love to be diving into that water, laughing with my boyfriend and running after him so we could finally k**s in the sea. I breathe and Scott reattaches my hands. I don’t even bother to argue or say anything and I sit down on the icy metal table. Deaton does his analysis, which I don’t even bother to look at, and he stands in front of the three of us.

Deaton: Your powers have returned, you’ve noticed, but how they disappeared, we may never know. However, I have noticed that in your direction, there was a strong dose of liquid gold.

Me: Gold?

Deaton: Yes, gold is your enemy, like wolfsbane to your brother.

Me: But why are my eyes that colour if it’s harmful to me?

Deaton: When the ancient warriors showed themselves to humans, they called them golden warriors because, like gold, they were very powerful, so they were thought to be invincible. But one day, a werewolf dipped his claws and fangs in liquid gold and managed to kill almost all the ancient warriors. Feeling guilty for the death of their friends, the survivors have given this colour to their eyes so that they never forget that they are not invincible.

I nod

Me: What about my powers? Am I going to be uncontrollable like at the beginning?

Deaton: No, you’ll just have to do some more training to make sure that nothing has changed during this loss of power.

I breathe and stand up

Me: Let’s get this over with…
