I’ve just finished my lesson. Lydia has gone to hospital to replace out about the “memory” she had. I’ve been trying to get in touch with her for ten minutes but there’s no answer.

I see Scott and go to meet him.

Me: We’ve got to get to the hospital. I think something’s happened to Lydia.

Scott: Okay. Call Stiles, I’ll take care of Allison.

I nod and call Stiles. We all meet up outside and then get in the jeep and head for the hospital.

We stop at a light and I have a vision. The… The doctors! They’re in the hospital!

Me: Stiles roll!

Stiles: What? Hannah, the light’s red!

Tan pis. I teleport into the hospital lift and go up to the second floor. There they are. There’s nobody left in the corridors.

I transform, flashing my katana, and run towards them. The one with the cane turns round and I see his gaze. I freeze.

There’s a man. He’s smiling at…Allison?! They talk for a few minutes, laughing, and Allison leaves. Another man arrives and the two men embrace. The new man gives his friend a key, whispering something in his ear, and then leaves. The man is now alone. Goes into the forest and picks up a… a body?!!? And drags it into a cellar under a building. The cellar is full of them… he changes his clothes covered in b***d and enters a building full of people…

I regain consciousness. I’m in the lift and my mother is standing over me.

Mum: At last! What’s happened?!

Me: I…

I hear a scream. Scott’s. I get up but everything is spinning around me.

Mum: Hannah, sit down.

Me: No..

I press the button to open the doors and see Scott on the floor, struggling to breathe.

Me: You look after Scott… I’ll look after the doctors…

Mum nods and I run towards the doctors. I swing my Katana but he stops it with his… hand? How does he do that?! I look at Scott. He’s having a seizure. I keep fighting them until Mum gets Scott into the lift and when she shouts that it’s done, I propel them with my powers and teleport myself into the lift. The doors close and I sit down on the floor.

Me: Is he going to be all right?

Mum: Yes. Since he’s been having seizures again I’ve always had a dilator with me.

I nod. My phone beeps and I look

[Stiles: Lydia’s with me. She’ll be fine. Meet us at the Jeep when everything’s okay ]

I blow out a breath and slide to the floor. Finally.

later.

We get home. I am, as always, exhausted except that when we get to the living room, Liam is standing and walking in a circle until he sees us.

Liam: Finally! I’ve sent you lots of messages!

Scott: What’s going on?

Liam: It’s Hayden…

Me: Who?

Liam: A… girl.

I frown but I remember who it is. It’s the one Tracy attacked in the classroom but also…

Me: The girl you have a crush on?

Liam: Shut up!

I can’t help smiling. I’ve got my answer!

Liam: Anyway, she’s a chimera…

Scott: Where is it?

Liam: She’s been in your bathroom for twenty minutes…

I sigh loudly. Couldn’t I just go to sleep?

We go upstairs but just before Scott knocks on the door I stop him.

Scott : What?

Me: For a human, you’re creepier than me once transformed.

Scott: That’s not true, you’re just as scary as the rest of us!

I cross my arms over my chest

Me: You’ve got fangs

Scott: You’ve got claws

Me : You too

Scott: You’ve got a katana

Me: And you’ve got eyes the colour of b***d, you growl like a wolf and hair comes out of your face.

He doesn’t say anything

Scott: Go on…

I smile victoriously and walk towards the door.

Me: Hayden? My name’s Hannah. We’ll help you, I promise, but you have to open the door.

She doesn’t say anything

Me: Listen Hayden, you must be scared. You don’t understand what’s happening to you and it’s normal that you don’t think you can trust us, but we’ve all been there.

I hear the door unhinge and it opens slowly. Hayden is just like a wolf. Claws, fangs and yellow eyes.

Hayden: Are you going to tell me that’s normal?

The next day

Hayden got home very late and now we’re in the library trying to replace a way to protect her from the doctors.

Stiles: Telluric currents?

Me: If the doctors can’t get into Eichen housse easily because of that, maybe we can use it against them.

He nods

Stiles: And what are we going to do?

Me: I’ve done some research. Next to Eichen, it’s the sideboard with the highest telluric current load.

Lydia: And how long did you sleep with all that?

Me: About enough for the neighbour to ask me if I’m a vampire.

Allison : Don’t blame her. You look scary!

Me: Can we just concentrate on the girl we’re here to protect?

They nod gently and Scott continues

Scott: We’ll hide her in the school. Parrish is even going to lend us some wave jammers that he’s modified to be more powerful.

Allison: What’s left to do?

Me: A thousand things, but we’ve got to get to class!

We head for the door but Stiles grabs my arm and asks me to wait.

Me: What’s wrong?

Stiles: You… you should stay at my place tonight

Me: What? Stiles: Why?

Stiles: Hannah… you’re dead… Scott and the others are going to be okay protecting Hayden. You need to rest up for another fight.

He’s right, but I want to help them…

Stiles: Come on Vampire! We’re gonna spend a whole night sleeping and I’m the best pillow!

I smile and pull him against me. I’m lucky to have him!
