I get out of my second class and sit down next to Lydia, who’s looking at weird numbers and letters on her computer.

Me: What’s that?

Lydia: At first it was my class notes, but now I don’t know.

Me: It looks like viginary numbers, like in World War II, I did a paper on it in second grade.

Lydia: Or some kind of code…

Me: How do you figure out what it means?

Lydia: With a key!

Lydia’s mother comes over to give her the keys to their cottage, tells her some strict housekeeping rules and then leaves to teach her class.

Me: You know I’m starting to get upset that you didn’t invite me to your party!

Lydia: What…party? I don’t do…parties…

She makes the same face they make every time they hide something from me. I sigh and concentrate on the class, ignoring Lydia a little. I’m getting tired of being taken for a fool…

After class

I arrive home and throw my bag on the floor. All my friends have left in a hurry after the last class. I go up to my room and my eyes land on my father’s letter. I’ve never read it since I received it, but now I want to.

[My darling,

I’m so sorry for what happened and now that you know the truth, I thought you should know what happened on my side. That night, I’d been drinking like never before. I don’t even remember why, but the next day I saw you sleeping with the stuffed animal your mother had given you in the crook of your arms. I realized what a terrible thing I’d done. I’d taken you away from the people who meant the most to you, but it was too late. I would have been arrested by the police and, at the time, your mother wouldn’t have been able to live without the money I’d given her. I know you won’t be coming home to live. I hope that one day you’ll be able to forgive me for my unforgivable act.

I love you, sweetheart. Be happy in your new life and know that despite everything, you’ll always have a place at home.

Your loving father].

I put the letter down, a little confused. I don’t know which way to turn at the moment. I go back down to the kitchen to get something to eat. My mother is working late tonight…

Pdv Scott

A few hours later

Liam has gone home and I return to Lydia’s cottage. Liam is indeed a werewolf like me. I go to see Kira in the kitchen.

Kira: Scott! How’s Liam?

Scott: Well, he’s back home and he’s going to accept our help.

She smiles with all her teeth and gives me a k**s on the cheek.

Kira: Oh, and… Stiles and Lydia are upstairs. They want to talk to you.

I nod and go upstairs. Stiles and Lydia are looking at a list on the computer.

Me: What is it?

Lydia: Part of a list.

Stiles: A black list…

I look. My name and a lot of people’s names are written on it.

Lydia: Look, there’s a note.

She scrolls down the page.

Me: What! What… Why is Hannah on it and/

Hannah isn’t a supernatural being yet, but she’ll become very violent in the future.

I can hardly breathe. Hannah… Hannah’s in danger… I run to the window and try to breathe, but the air won’t come in. My phone rings. It’s her. It’s Hannah. It’s Hannah. I take it out of my pocket but it slips and falls out of the window before crashing onto the asphalt…

Pdv Hannah

It’s back. I don’t know how, but I heard him. I’ve hidden in the basement and I’m holding a simple knife as if it could prevent me from dying…
