Sour Souls The Morningstar Series Book 6 -
Sour Souls Chapter 54
It's been four months since I met my mate. Two months since our amazing Christmas. Also two months that the Banchee's have been here.
The Banchee's have been adjusting to life here really well. I guess that most of them were out in the real world before Darian got his hands on them. I also got all of their backstories. They were all very sad. Mei's was the most heartbreaking. All of them are starting to replace their place here though. Uma and Luca decided to travel the world. Ares was more than happy to help fund their adventure. I think they are trying to replace their mates. I hope they do, even if they aren't looking. Anna has been helping out in the school any way that she can. Mostly in the kitchen. The students love her food, and I can tell that she enjoys being around other people.
Jack has been the same. At first he was doing anything he could to be around other people. Ambrose had asked him if he wanted to join training one day. I think that Ambrose thought it would give Jack what he was craving most. Company. And it worked!
I hear from Talia and Derek that Jack is doing amazing. Banchee's have a smiliar strength to Werewolves, but they aren't as fast. Although, I think that Jack and Ambrose have been trying to figure out a way for Banchee's to target their screams. That way we can use our power without worrying about hurting the ones on our team.
Mei has been having the hardest time though. She didn't want to be around anyone else at first. As much as Mei craved freedom... it seems that she was scared of it as well.
Ares suggest that we ask Bianca to go talk with Mei. Bianca was more than happy to do so. It's only been a few weeks since then, but I do see Mei try to come around others more. Eventually she will figure out what she wants to do.
Talia and Derek are finally going out on missions now. I have mini panic attacks every time they leave. It's not that I don't trust that Ambrose trained them well, but.. They are just Werewolves, and can die a lot easier than some of the other BOC members. Ares is always quick to calm me down though.
Both of my friends always come home though. Thank the Goddess for that. They have been doing a lot of good from what I hear too. Talia and I get together everytime she comes home, but the BOC keeps it's members pretty busy.
Which makes me extremely happy that Ares decided to take his new job. He told me about it over Christmas break when I started to freak out about him being away on missions. Getting kidnapped, and spending all of that time away from my mate is not something I ever want to do again. I had even been thinking about joining the BOC, and giving up on all of my dreams. Just so that I could be with him.
Ares doesn't seem all that thrilled to be here doing maintenance work. I know that he only took the offer to stay close to me. I could never thank him enough for that. At least, because of the bond, Ares knows how much it means to me that he did this.
Less than a week after I was back home, Ares gave me a phone. He said that I should have had one much sooner. Apparently, he also added my brother, and Granny's numbers in it. I spent hours on the phone with Noah.
Ares has also been taking me to see my little brother almost every weekend. It seems that being connected to each other lets us use more power than we could before. Almost like we charge each other in some way.
Noah is doing great. Alpha Ryce has praised about how Noah and Neal are really going to turn the pack around. We are all just waiting for them to turn 18 at this point. I'm more excited now than I ever was before for my little brother. Finally, things are working out. After all of the pain, and abuse I endured throughout my life.. It's finally all paying off. I have a loving mate, my friends are all realizing their dreams, and my little brother is safe and happy.
Life is turning out to be great. Honi said.
More than great. I agreed.
Honi huffed in agreement. "Emi!"
I looked up from Freyja and Sylas to see Azai running towards me. The two escape artists have been hanging out with me all day. After they snuck away to see us this morning I said that I would spend the day with them. Their mothers were fine with that, and Ares was working so he didn't get a say. Ha ha.
"What's up Azai? Did you get it? Did the results finally come in?" I asked excitedly.
Azai gave me a wide smile.
"Yes. I have it right here." He said as he held up a manila envelope. "I even treated it like the real deal. You have it in a little book thingy, and everything." He told me.
I laughed at his choice of words as I snatched the envelope from him. I tore it open, and pulled out the 'book thingy'. I dropped the envelope, that Sy was quick to pick up. Here it is. Looking me dead in my face. My name right there. It's official. I did it.
State of Georgia. Highschool Equivalent. Emilia Morningstar.
Tears filled my eyes as I looked over the paper. I looked up at Azai with misted eyes. He's giving me an excited smile.
"I DID IT!" I screamed as I threw my hands in the air. "I DID IT! I DID IT! WHOAAAA!"
I continued to scream as I grabbed Jaja and Sy's arms. We stared jumping up and down, and dancing around. All of us falling into fits of laughter.
"I'M A HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE!" I shouted.
"Yeah!" Jaja yelled happily.
"Tee Em happy!" Sy shouted too.
I laughed at them. What little cute shit heads. I love them.
Suddenly, arms circled around me, stopping my jumping. I can tell by the scent, and the tingles that it's my mate. Ares kissed my cheek, and I turned around in his arms. "Guess what?" I said excitedly.
Ares took a deep breath.
"You got your GED?" He said teasingly.
I fake gasped.
"How did you know? Who told you?" I asked.
Then I looked down to the kids.
"Was it you?" I asked them.
Jaja just laughed, and Sy nodded.
I sputtered out my own laughter at them. Then Ares kissed my cheek again. I threw my arms around him, and threw my head back.
"I PASSED! I'M A GRADUATE!" I screamed.
Ares laughed at me.
"How should we celebrate?" He asked.
"Actually," Azai said interrupting us. "Ozzy arranaged a get together tonight already to celebrate. Everyone will be there, our family, the Banchee's, even Talia and Derek." He said.
"I can tell them all at once!" I said excitedly.
Azai nodded. "Yes, that was the idea." He said amused.
"Thank you." I said. "You have no idea how much this means to me. I wouldn't have been able to do it without you Azai."
Then I threw my arms around him in a warm hug. Azai hugged me back, and rested his cheek on the top of my head. We heard a low growl come from behind me, but we both ignored the grumpy man I call mate. "Anything for my new sister-in-law. You were my very best student." Azai told me.
"You're just saying that." I mumbled.
Azai chuckled.
"I am just saying that, but you were a very good student." He said.
"Alright, enough. Let go of my mate." Ares said.
My mate wrapped his arm around my waist, and pulled me to his chest. Azai and I shared a look as I tried to hold in my laughter. Ares kissed the top of my head making Azai shake his head.
"Now I know how Ambrose felt when I got jealous over Olive taking his blood." Azai muttered. "It's completely ridiculous." He stated. "Like I would ever hit on my brothers mate. Who am I? Alessio?" Azai teased.
I snorted at that. Less is definitely a big flirt. I'm 100% sure that I am not his type at all, yet he is always putting the moves on me. I ended up coming to the conclusion that Less just wanted to get some practice in. Ya know, test his pick up lines.
Azai told us good bye before turning to walk back to his home. Sy pulled on my pant leg. I reached down to scoop him up in my arms. Ares grabbed Jaja.
"Should we do something before our little get together?" I asked Ares.
My mate smirked at me. His deep blue eyes darkened. L**t pushed its way through the bond into me. My cheeks heated as I stared at my mate. "How about, we take these two back to their mothers?"
