Spoiled by Eight Uncles (Lily) -
Chapter 1346 Breakthroughs And Realizations
The black-robed man's patience paid off as he awaited Ivan's ultimate move-a combination of the scepter and his supernatural power.
However, he knew this wasn't the grand finale. Ivan had been leading since the start, and the Little King of Hell undoubtedly had a finishing move up her sleeve.
The self-destructing weapon unexpectedly took off half of the black-robed man's palm, but his intent was not in vain.
He sought to await the Little Ruler of Hell's ultimate move after the weapon's detonation.
As expected, an overwhelming and unstoppable killing intent swept toward him, and he had almost no chance to evade.
Yet, it was all part of the act.
Throughout their previous battles that nearly cost them their lives, Ivan and the Little Ruler of Hell had concealed their supernatural powers.
This time, they were finally unleashed.
The black-robed man narrowly evaded the Primordial Creation. The black hood he wore on his head was shattered by the attack. It could have been his head that shattered had he been a tad slower.
He knew that it wasn't over yet. Ivan's relentless attacks, the self-destruction of the purple sledgehammer, Ivan's supernatural power, the Little Ruler of Hell's supernatural power...
If he guessed correctly, there should be two more major attacks.
One was beyond his current speculation, but the last one was undoubtedly an assassination using spirit consciousness.
The black-robed man bided his time.
Lilly gasped for breath as she landed next to Ivan. Both were on high alert, their eyes locked intently on the black-robed man, not letting their guard down.
"It's really a baldie," Lilly remarked. "What's the point of hiding your true identity? We already know that you're the King of the Underworld!"
Of course, she only revealed half of the information while keeping the rest in the shadows.
In front of the black-robed man, she had to pretend to know while also showing that she didn't know everything.
Her father's teaching echoed in her mind: 'Never let the opponent know the depth of your knowledge, and always keep your last card hidden.'
The man in the black robe's cold smile flashed for a moment.
If she didn't have spirit consciousness, she wouldn't have noticed that fleeting trace of disdain. However, with spirit consciousness, she could see everything.
"Let me see what you're made of!" Suddenly, the flower lamp in the black-robed man's hand lit up.
The gentle and radiant light had no aggression at all. Even though Lilly and Ivan remained vigilant, they only saw a moment of brightness before replaceing themselves enveloped in the soft glow. The black-robed man in front of them had disappeared, replaced by the sound of murmured scriptures in their ears.
"Ivan!" Lilly's heart tightened, realizing that things were taking a turn for the worse.
She knew she was now under the control of the flower lamp.
Ivan broke out in a cold sweat and whispered, "Hang in there."
Lilly replied, "I will, but I'm worried about you!"
Ivan remained silent.
There was no time for further discussion as the scriptures in their ears grew louder.
Light of Light, very God of very God...
The recitations started as the mantra but grew increasingly chaotic. It was as if millions of people were reciting their own texts, each one different from the next.
Lilly's head throbbed with pain. She wanted to cover her ears and block out the sound, but it continued to seep through her fingers.
The cacophony of voices merged into a series of clear questions.
"Do you feel guilty? Is everything you've done truly right? Are you fair to everyone? Do you think your decisions, the ones you believe are right, are fair to those on the other side? Equality in the world, equality of good and evil, everyone has the right to live. Do you dare to say that everything you do achieves equality for all sentient beings?"
These questions, one after another, eventually turned into stern interrogations, like thunder striking a calm ground, exploding in her mind.
"Let go of the weapon and replace instant peace. Let go of attachments and replace instant peace. Let go of everything, and replace instant peace..."
The voice continued to repeat with the emphasis on "let go... let go..."
Under this immense pressure, Lilly almost surrendered all her secrets and gave up all resistance.
Outside the halo of light...
The black-robed man continued his recitation, holding the lotus lamp with one hand and pinching two fingers on the other, standing beside the flower lamp.
He had initially assumed that dealing with these two inexperienced youngsters would be a walk in the park. He believed that a single recitation of his scriptures would compel them to surrender, effectively defeating themselves obediently.
Or perhaps they might become lost, surrender, and provide him with an opportunity to end their lives.
However, it appeared that these two individuals were putting up a subtle resistance. He couldn't afford to grant them an opening for a fatal blow while continuously reciting the scriptures.
Suddenly, a crack was forced open in the radiant halo of the flower lamp, and Lilly's mocking voice emerged.
"Enough with your 'let go'... and screw your 'instant peace"!"
The oppressive aura from the flower lamp forced her to curse out loud. Only by doing so could she release the inexplicable frustration in her heart.
Lilly's glare burned with anger as she clenched the pen of judgment tightly. At this very moment, she suddenly began to grasp the perspective of the mythical entity who had initiated Primordial Creation. As the entity awakened and beheld a dimly lit world, he cleaved open the heavens and the earth with a single strike...
Though her surroundings appeared dimly lit, they were shrouded in an aura of impending doom. Where the pen of judgment's tip landed, a faint crack emerged.
Lilly's gaze became resolute.
She harbored no guilt. Good and evil couldn't possibly be equal. She followed the path of Taoism, not Catholicism. Her path didn't subscribe to the idea of equality among all beings. The truth was that all beings were inherently unequal, and equality was a relative concept devoid of absolute meaning.
Only Catholicism preached equality among all beings.
Attempting to bind her path with someone else's dogma was futile!
