Spoiled by Eight Uncles (Lily) -
Chapter 1386 Dying Under The Blue Sky And Golden Sun
Cloud softly called out, "Nephele."
However, there was still no response from her.
If things continue like this, she won't even make it to the last stomach, let alone escape, he thought.
He shrugged and smiled before removing the golden light from his body.
Perfect Merit, Golden Light Protection, he had believed in it for years. But now, he had to let go of the protection of the golden light as well.
His body emitted a blinding light as the golden light rapidly separated from his body. Taking advantage of the opportunity, he rushed towards the fourth stomach of the ghost beast.
"Rest now, Nephele," he said.
She didn't answer. Since he didn't know how to put her away, he simply clenched her in his fist.
Her consciousness was fading away, yet she couldn't speak.
He added, "I have a feeling that you can't escape because you didn't think outside of the box."
She waited for him to continue, hoping to hear his profound theory.
Cloud explained, "As long as the spirit energy or golden light remains on our bodies, they will still be nutrients for Godzilla. Its four stomachs will continue to treat us as food and won't allow us to pass. That's why you keep failing. It wants to exploit your value."
He sure talks a lot, Nephele thought.
The golden light continued to separate from his body. He stumbled as he moved forward, still tightly holding onto her balled-up aura.
He struggled forward, with more and more parts of his body being corroded. There was a large hole in his shoulder, and a quarter of his handsome face was missing.
His determination to move forward remained unwavering.
Nephele simply watched him. Even in this state, he was still talking to her, and she could understand. After all, people would want someone to talk to before they died.
Cloud said, "You must be wondering what I'm planning, right? You forgot to consider one thing, which is to make yourself useless. Every time, you give it your all to escape, yet you are also afraid of getting hurt. You have to unleash your power. Otherwise, you'll never get past it. See? You never thought about turning yourself into waste."
Nephele was silent, so he continued, "A pile of waste is completely useless to Godzilla. There'll be no other option but for it to excrete us."
She continued to stay silent.
"So, I assume the idea never crossed your mind?"
She was furious. Enough is enough! Nobody wants to turn themselves into waste. Just shut up already!
There was no more golden light around Cloud's body. Godzilla's stomach acid continued to corrode his remains. Darkness eventually engulfed them.
However, he still had a wide smile on his face, giving her a toothy grin. "Nephele, do you believe in light?"
She glared at him silently, refraining from cursing out loud.
The next moment, she heard a gunshot. A golden bullet was shot out.
The golden light pierced through the darkness like a shooting star at night, leaving her astonished.
Soon, the beast's stomach churned violently, causing black currents to surge towards the golden light.
Cloud fired six shots in a row as he rushed towards the exit.
Before falling off the evil eye, he shot the despicable man once, leaving him with only six bullets.
But that's enough.
The beast's fourth stomach started to convulse. The black currents surged towards the golden light from all directions, as well as towards Cloud. He took one last look at his gun before throwing it away.
His eyes turned red with emotions as he watched the gun emit a crimson glow before being engulfed by darkness.
Now, he and Nephele were considered remnants; the beast would no longer notice them.
He decisively turned his head, tightly gripping the cluster of bad aura in his hand as he swam towards the exit.
He wanted to float in the air. After all, it was quite a nice feeling. Yet, he had little strength left.
He brought Nephele to the exit with his last ounce of strength. Skeletal remains resembling a horse caught his eye, and he held onto them tightly. Then, they began to fall.
Cloud was surprised to replace that there was nothing stopping them from escaping. Oh. So, this is how Godzilla's digestive system works.
He immediately draped the skeletal remains over his body to shield himself.
A bright light appeared in the distance.
He was overjoyed. His plan had worked as expected, although it was embarrassing, and he would never want to remember it. It's okay. There's no shame in doing whatever it takes to stay alive. "Look, Nephele! We've made it!" he exclaimed, shaking the cluster of bad aura in his hand to get her attention.
She was unable to make a sound.
The next second, a strong current hit them, taking him underwater as he struggled.
He held onto the bone tightly. The current hit his head so hard that he felt as though his soul was turned upside down. A long time passed after he was submerged, and he eventually lost consciousness. When Cloud woke up again, the sun was shining brightly above his head.
He opened his eyes, and the sunlight blinded him. He instinctively raised his hand to shield his eyes, only to replace his spirit fading away in the sunlight.
"Wait. Sunlight?"
It really is sunlight! Astonished, he stumbled to his feet. He looked at his palm, but there was no trace of Nephele.
"Nephele!" Cloud desperately called out. "Where are you?"
He searched around and finally found the ball of bad aura not far away on the ground. Wait. Did it just shrink? I remember it being the size of my fist. Now it's the size of a table tennis ball. Not bad. Nephele commented. You can still spot me.
This marked her final moment of awareness. She gazed at the sunlight and the azure sky beyond. She felt like laughing but was unable to do so.
Lucky me. At least I see the blue sky and the golden sun one last time. It's much better than meeting my demise in Godzilla's belly.
