Spoiled by Eight Uncles (Lily) -
Chapter 1404 Survival of the Fittest
After ensuring her safety, Lilly submerged her spiritual consciousness into the jar of souls and grasped a handful of waterweed to carefully examine it.
The waterweed was similar to the sacred tree as it emitted an inexplicable spatial law. Perhaps this law could resist the effects of time and space and prevent it from being taken away.
If this speculation were true, wouldn't it imply that there were things in this world that could not be influenced by time and space? In other words... immortality?
Lilly found this idea absurd. Based on everything she knew, there was nothing that was eternally immortal.
"Perhaps it's like the enormous ghost beast, which only learned to avoid the fatal aspects of light and shadows and the giant wheel?"
Lilly recalled the enormous ghost beast's ability to refine everything it consumed.
In that case, she could also refine the waterweed.
Her spiritual consciousness enveloped the waterweed before she searched meticulously for traces of light.
Gradually...
Strands of pale green light were slowly extracted and embedded into Lilly's sea of stars spirit consciousness.
The original sea of stars now possessed a faint green glow. Lilly immersed herself in this light and made a wondrous discovery.
The green light was supple and seemed to float effortlessly. However, when her spiritual consciousness attempted to touch the light, it would be effortlessly pushed aside due to its weightlessness. The more force she exerted, the further it would be pushed away.
Lilly began to comprehend.
This sensation was akin to replaceing a small floating object in the water while taking a bath.
When she tried to grasp it, the water would carry the lightweight object away as her hand moved through it.
The object was too light. Even if she gently cupped her hand to scoop it up, it would slip away between her fingers as she tried to lift it out of the water.
Now, the enormous wheel of light was like a pair of large hands that suddenly scooped underwater. The delicate waterweed was carried by the water waves and pushed into the range where the light could attack.
The reason why the waterweed could evade the wheel of light was because of this. It was the opposite the stronger the force that approached it, the more it would be propelled out of the range of the force. In reality, it possessed no extraordinary abilities; it was simply survival of the fittest...
"Everything, even the tiniest thing, has its own way of existing..."
Lilly marveled at this realization.
She opened her eyes once again and gazed at the bottom of the pool before uncovering the mystery of the waterweed.
Whenever a beam of light suddenly illuminated, the waterweed at the bottom of the pool would be swept to one side while somersaulting before resettling near the light and shadows.
There were numerous waterweeds at the bottom of the pool. Some were near the light and shadows, and others in the darkness, but none were within the light and shadows.
"Squeak!" the small ghost beast suddenly exclaimed anxiously.
The enormous light wheel that had just vanished suddenly reappeared. This time, it was rolling over from the other side!
Lilly had an idea in her mind and decided to take a risk!
She quickly retreated with the small ghost beast but actively separated a piece of her spiritual consciousness, which seized a piece of waterweed.
Her consciousness immersed itself in this fragment of spiritual consciousness, akin to her temporary distraction.
She clearly witnessed the light wheel rolling toward her.
Lilly composed herself and allowed herself to float. At the moment, when the light wheel rolled over, she finally experienced the force of being "pushed away."
However, her instinct was still to escape, so when she felt this pushing force, she immediately attempted to flee with the momentum. Unexpectedly, she was engulfed without any warning!
A fragment of spiritual consciousness suddenly vanished, and her head began to ache once again. She held onto the small ghost beast tightly, and it took a while for the pain to subside.
"I understand now. I can't flee actively," Lilly whispered.
The small ghost beast was puzzled.
Lilly once again separated a fragment of her spiritual consciousness before immersing her consciousness and transforming it into her second "spirit."
Now that her spiritual consciousness had advanced, she had enough to create two clones.
After waiting for a long time, she finally witnessed the enormous light wheel destroy everything as it rolled over. This time, Lilly completely emptied herself. Even if the light wheel rolled over her, she pretended not to notice!
I am a mere blade of grass...
She cleared her mind and truly regarded herself as a lifeless waterweed that was only capable of passively moving based on instinct.
She succeeded this time!
Lilly's "spirit" was pushed to the side like a supple waterweed by the water flow. It turned out that it was not the power of the light wheel that pushed her but the control of the water flow as the light wheel passed through the pond.
The enormous light wheel could devour everything and render the pond as dark as night, as if nothing could exist.
But the water in the pond remained the same, and the waterweed that had adapted to it remained in its original place...
Perhaps there were once thousands and thousands of waterweeds here, which were also taken away by the enormous wheel, leaving only this type of waterweed behind. It gradually adapted to the light of destruction, learned some rules, and survived leisurely...
Lilly suddenly experienced enlightenment; everything was so simple!
No wonder the enormous ghost beast could come and go freely at the bottom of the pool. It wasn't as mysterious and unfathomable as she had previously believed.
"Let's go. We're going in!" Lilly understood the principle, and now it was time to put it into practice herself.
As the enormous wheel rolled toward them once again, Lilly remained motionless while the small ghost beast's pupils trembled with instinctual fear and intense struggle. She held it tightly while closing her eyes.
"Don't move. Do you trust me? If you trust me, close your eyes and don't move."
The tiny ghost beast wanted to cry but couldn't. It trusted her, but it couldn't comply with her request!
As the wheel drew nearer and was about to crush their heads, the small ghost beast remembered the fur that had just been cut off. It was so terrified that its limbs stiffened, which rendered it unable to move any longer...
It was over for them!
