Spoiled my CEO husband after Rebirth -
Chapter 154 She Is Beloved to the Reed Family
In the living room, Gwenda sat beside August.
Suzanne and Piper sat in the middle of the sofa.
When the Wrights came in and saw this scene, they were really startled.
But they managed to calm themselves quickly and went up to the group. The family patriarch, Morgan Wright, addressed Suzanne respectfully. "Madam, I apologise for not being able to attend your 80th birthday banquet as I had something urgent to attend to in the company at the last minute. I also apologise for the incident in your garden that was caused by my son earlier. I hope that you will be magnanimous and forgive my son."
Suzanne chuckled and said, "That's very kind of you. However, you shouldn't be apologising to me about tonight's incident, but to Piper instead."
"Oh, yes. Indeed."
Morgon nodded quickly and looked at Piper in the same manner he looked at Suzanne. "Mrs. Kinney, I apologise. I truly haven't disciplined my son enough, given what he has done today." With that, he turned back to give Naomi a look.
Getting the hint, Naomi immediately stepped forward and dipped her head in a contrite manner. "I am deeply sorry, Mrs. Kinney. I was wrong for not getting to the bottom of the matter. I apologise on behalf of my son."
"Oh please, I doubt that I'm worthy of your apology!"
Piper looked very unhappy, and was dismissive of their apology. "I did not forget how you kept saying that I wronged your son. What's the use of apologising to me now? I don't accept it!"
"Yes, I was wrong. You're indeed right, Mrs. Kinney."
An unpleasant smile appeared on Naomi's face. "However, nothing really happened to your grandson in the end, did it? Our families have business ties. There's no need to make things any more disagreeable over such a small matter."
"What?"
Piper leapt to her feet upon hearing her words. "A small matter? You're saying that my grandson's life is a small matter?"
"..."
Naomi turned pale instantly, realising that she had said the wrong thing.
Morgan gave her a glare to shut her up before forcing a smile and said, "Please calm down, Mrs. Kinney. Naomi is not sensible. That's why she said the wrong thing. I hope you can let it slide." "Don't patronise me!"
Piper was truly angered. "You're not only insincere, but you regard this matter as a small one! Fine, then! Since my grandson is so insignificant to you, then it's better to break off all relations between our families. Forget our business connections! I don't give a d*mn about that. Once I get home, I will have my son cut off contact with you."
"This..."
Morgan became anxious upon hearing this. "Mrs. Kinney, please be calm. We can work this out. There's no need to make it any worse."
"What is there left to talk about? I don't want to hear it any longer. Get lost."
Piper was used to being forthright and did not bother with flummery at all.
Morgan kept apologising. "I'm sorry. This is indeed our mistake. Please be calm, Mrs. Kinney. How about this: you can make any request, and we will do our best to compensate you. What do you think?" "I don't want any compensation! I want you to get out of my sight!!"
Piper shouted angrily, her rage finally boiling over.
Morgan had never been rebuked by anyone before. Tonight was his limit, but Piper refused to listen to him. In the end, he felt that he had no other option but to straighten up and say, "Mrs. Kinney, I strongly suggest that you calm down. After all, it's not good for either of us if we fall out right now."
"Excuse you? Are you threatening me?"
Piper gritted her teeth.
Morgan smirked lightly. "Oh, no, not at all. I just wanted to remind you that we've given you a way out. All you need to do is to take this opportunity to prevent this matter from causing any serious consequences. If our families really had a falling out, our businesses would be severely affected, and this would simply do more harm than good."
"You... you..."
Piper did not expect him to say such a thing. Shaking with rage, she cried, "You're vile!"
Morgan did not retort. He stood there in a well-behaved manner, with his eyebrow raised.
Nearby, Gwenda, who had been sitting there graciously, snorted lightly and muttered, "Vile rat!" Hearing this, August glanced over at her.
Gwenda pursed her lips before raising her voice, her tone filled with sarcasm. "I was curious as to why a ten-year-old child would be able to frame someone after pushing someone into the pool. Now that I've met Mr. Wright, I finally understand that it's because the apple doesn't fall far from its tree!"
"You..."
Morgan went stiff and he glared at her.
Rolling her eyes, Gwenda continued, "You act like you're here to apologise, but the truth is that you don't think that this is a big deal, so you hope to sweep this under the rug. Forget about being sincere; you even started to threaten Mrs. Kinney. Well, Mr. Wright, you're quite bold-faced, aren't you?"
"Who... who are you? Don't talk rubbish here!"
Morgan hissed through gritted teeth as he glared at her.
"She's my cousin, and is beloved to us Reeds. Do you have any thoughts about that, Mr. Wright?"
August spoke in a sinister voice as he leaned back lazily on the sofa.☐☐☐☐☐☐☐
