Starting from the Planetary Governor
Chapter 36: A Stern Lesson

Denison Henry knelt before Gu Hang with a thud, beads of cold sweat forming on his forehead.

The three questions posed by the Governor, like peeling layers, stripped away his psychological defenses cleanly.

He had not thought this way.

At least he had not dared to admit it openly.

But upon introspection, even with a merchant’s instincts, hadn’t he subconsciously done so?

He was a merchant who aimed to make a profit. The Governor, not being a merchant, always demanded various things of him, imposing many conditions on business deals, which of course affected his earnings.

He indeed did not want other merchants to compete with him in this business, even if he couldn’t handle the full production capacity later on.

As for anything deeper, he hadn’t thought about it, but…

If he were the sole exclusive authorized dealer and later gained the qualifications of an agent in Garbage Town, having power and influence, and continued to grow stronger through exclusive rights, then the Governor would increasingly rely on him for expanding trade routes and further development.

He would become an indispensable minister to the Governor, his every word and action would significantly influence the Governor’s strategies, and his say would carry a lot of weight…

These unthinkable thoughts, which had inevitably crossed his mind, were shattered by the Governor’s stern questioning like a hammer blow!

He bowed his head deeply: “Governor! I absolutely did not dare!”

Maintaining his head-to-ground posture, he could not see Gu Hang’s expression, only hearing the Governor’s indifferent tone after a moment, “Really? You’re so clever, thinking of deeper matters, yet you didn’t think of this?”

“I didn’t dare to think,” Henry no longer dared to play any tricks, having been thoroughly chastened today.

“You’re right, Governor. I am truly a fool who cannot see the essence of things. I should have realized that as long as I work diligently for the Governor, I need not worry about those illusory concerns. After your guidance, I have completely understood. Please give me another chance.”

After speaking, he raised his head, looking earnestly at the Governor, and then once again bowed deeply.

Seeing Denison Henry’s submissive demeanor, Gu Hang finally showed a slight smile, and his tone softened, “Since you can be smarter and think more deeply, that’s good. Get up, no need to kneel any longer. I’ll take you to see a batch of goods. Didn’t you say that weapons and equipment are the best commodities in Garbage Town? I think the standard weapons widely equipped by the Imperial Star Realm Army would be very attractive to those adventurers.”

Denison Henry suddenly looked up, his eyes brimming with surprise.

Having just received a metaphorical slap, the sweet jujube that followed was almost too sweet to bear!

Standard equipment of the Imperial Star Realm Army!

If he could get a batch and send it to Garbage Town, wouldn’t it sell like crazy?

Gu Hang hadn’t initially intended to chastise Denison Henry.

Objectively speaking, the guy had done quite a good job this time.

Everything Gu Hang needed was procured, and the thousands of personnel greatly supplemented his manpower needs for expanding production capacity.

But the way the guy pestered him for exclusive authorization annoyed the Governor.

So Gu Hang didn’t hold back.

At the same time, he further clarified one thing: What exactly was Denison Henry’s role?

The guy might have considered himself a collaborator. He is a merchant, and collaborations are meant to profit, to gain personal benefits, which is understandable.

But Gu Hang’s stance was not like that.

What he actually wanted to say was:

“I’m not swindling you or deceiving you; I’m giving you a chance to rise to the top. Do you want to continue being a merchant, or do you want to become my subordinate, a high-ranking official in the future planetary government?”

An ordinary merchant, even if he makes some money relying on the Governor, how can his status compare to that of a true high-ranking official?

Of course, this was a highly risky endeavor.

Whether the Governor could fully seize power in the future or truly develop was something Henry needed to decide and invest in.

But Gu Hang was confident in himself and mercifully extended the opportunity to Henry.

At least for now, Henry seemed willing to seize the opportunity.

That was good.

What was said wasn’t as important.

After Henry’s declaration, Gu Hang would carefully observe how he performed in the future.

As for giving the Imperial Star Realm Army’s standard equipment to Denison Henry to sell, this was something Gu Hang had already planned.

Giving him a “jujube” to eat was just convenient.

The production line for the G9 Rifle Series was not ready yet, but it would be soon.

In fact, small-scale production was already underway using the Black Box Fabricator.

Subsequently, by using the master machine to output a complete production line, the Wasteland Society’s heavy industry sector would gain a new military production capacity.

With adequate production capacity for Alloy and Plastic Steel, the production of the G9 Rifle Series will also ramp up quickly.

In no time, it will be possible to re-equip the two infantry battalions currently under Gu Hang’s command.

The gradually phased-out G7 Rifle Series will need a destination.

Selling them to Garbage Town is an excellent choice. Gu Hang’s territory is rapidly developing, with a significant demand for raw materials.

Of course, he doesn’t plan to sell all of them.

Taking out a small portion and bundling them with the locally produced and confiscated miscellaneous firearms from the mercenaries during the battle at Manban River Valley Manor should fetch a pretty good price.

The remaining rifles will be used temporarily when expanding the army.

He still plans to expand his forces.

Currently, the newly recruited refugees, after a simple registration and reorganization, will be partially assigned to Wasteland Society.

Some will be added to the Alloy and Plastic Steel production lines, while others will be involved in the construction of the Hot Ash Stone power plant.

Although Gu Hang still has enough Energy Crystals for now, using such precious high-energy batteries for industrial production is too extravagant. With the ability to build a cost-effective power plant, it’s better to save the Energy Crystals.

Aside from those sent to Wasteland Society to bolster heavy industry, the rest will be used to set up the textile mill at the Governor’s camp.

Despite the shortage of human resources, Gu Hang still plans to expand his forces.

In such a wasteland world, he lacks a sense of security.

Frankly, everything he is doing now is still like dancing on a tightrope.

The Quintet in the sky is immensely powerful, but it doesn’t belong to him.

He is the Governor, the ruler, but his direct forces are still too weak.

If nearby major powers like Garbage Town and Revival City were to be pushed to the brink one day and launched an all-out attack, Gu Hang could only rely on the Quintet to avenge him by wiping out a surface force, but he himself would have no choice but to accept his fate.

And not to mention these unlikely and currently unformed threats, there is one immediate concern affecting his sense of security.

The threat of Mutant Aliens.
