133- Food and freak–outs

My jaw drops open and I turn to Bellamy to see if he is as flabbergasted as I am. He looks mildly surprised, but nowhere near as shocked as I am. I suppose the difference is that he hasn’t spent his whole life wondering about the mark, he’s only been curious about it for a few months. He hasn’t invested anything close to the amount of time and energy I have put into trying to work out what the hell my stupidly unique mark is meant to mean.

“It- it’s the same as mine!” I stutter out. Bellamy leans in closer to examine the picture.

“You’re right, it is fairly similar.” He observes mildly. I let out an irritated breath, how can he

not see what a big deal this is?

“Similar? They’re practically identical!” I object.

“Not quite. The threads on her arm twist in a slightly different pattern to yours. Admittedly, you might not notice the difference unless you were comparing the two.” He clarifies. I shove my sleeve up and stare at my arm. He’s right. How is it that he has my mark memorised more clearly than I do? Before I can ask, Bellamy predicts my question.

“I spend more time looking at you than you spend looking at yourself it would seem.” he grins. I raise an eyebrow.

“Not sure if that’s sweet or creepy.” I comment.

“It was intended to be sweet.” He flushes and I swear he looks a little embarrassed.

“Okay, okay, it’s sweet then. But back on topic, slight differences or not, Kiara’s mark is incredibly similar to mine. Closer than any other I’ve seen. There has to be some connection. there. Maybe her mark is actually identifiable! I might get some real answers. Not to mention it might explain why I keep dreaming about a girl I’ve never met.” Finally, some real, definable connection between the two of us. Something I can actually investigate.

“I can’t believe that there has been someone with a mark so similar to mine living so close to me all this time and I never realised! Her mark might be registered. I haven’t thought to

.i

check in over ten years. I stopped actively searching for answers as a teenager when I realised

I wasn’t getting anywhere. Plus requesting information from the registration office costs money that I definitely didn’t have. I figured I should prioritise saving to be able to afford to support myself when I turned eighteen.” I add. Bellamy nods his understanding. Somehow during this conversation I’ve twisted and readjusted on his lap so that instead of sitting with him directly behind me, I’m sitting sideways with my back against the arm of the couch and Bellamy to my side with his back against the actual seat. Actually, his legs have got to be falling asleep or be num or something by now surely? I’ve been sitting here for ages. Even I’m getting stiff and I don’t have an entire person in my lap.

I leap up out of Bellamy’s lap and sure enough, he begins stretching out his legs and arms. I roll my eyes.

“You could have said something if you were uncomfortable.” I point out. He just shrugs.

“I wasn’t uncomfortable.” He says simply. Unable to concentrate due to my excitement I just accept it and move on. I begin pacing the living room in haphazard circles. I even trip over a couple times. I suddenly feel like I have a heap of excess energy and I don’t quite know where to aim it. On the third time I trip over, Bellamy gets to his feet and catches me, steadying me by my arms, but also preventing me from pacing any further.

You’re freaking out.” He observes.

“Of course I’m freaking out! I’ve been waiting my whole life for this kind of clue. Not to mention it might explain why the psycho’s are after both myself and Kiara, there IS something that we have in common. Why aren’t you freaking out more?” I demand. Bellamy

chuckles.

“Well we can’t both be freaking out, and I had my turn today already.” He jokes. I just roll my

eyes again.

“We will put in a request with the registration office first thing tomorrow. There really isn’t much we can do right this second.” Bellamy reasons. I groan in frustration. I’ve been waiting

years and now I have to wait again? It’s so annoying.

“Come on, I’m sure we can replace a way to keep you busy until morning.” Bellamy winks at me and I glare. He just laughs and leads me to the kitchen.

“Time for another attempt at cooking dinner together I think.” He opens the fridge and

stands there staring at the contents. I wait… and wait… then wait some more.

“Uh, Bellamy?” I question.

“I’m trying okay, I didn’t decide what to make before coming in here and now that I’m at the fridge I am just mentally blanking on literally every meal I have ever eaten.” He says this in complete seriousness and for some reason I replace it hysterically funny. Maybe because Bellamy is so in control all the time, then it comes time to pick something to eat and he’s just completely stalled. I peer around his shoulder to check out the contents of the freezer.

“What about lasagna?” I suggest. He considers.

“Didn’t we cook pasta last time though?” He reminds me. I shrug.

“I don’t know, maybe. But pasta is easy and neither of us are experts. Maybe we should start a book or list of recipes to try or something?” Bellamy nods his agreement.

“We definitely should. But I suppose for now, lasagna works.” He starts grabbing ingredients

and we get to work.

Well, our lasagna turned out edible. The edges were weirdly crunchy though, I’m not sure if

that means we under or over–cooked it. Maybe both? Can it even be both? I don’t know.

Either way we eat without complaint and when Megan joins us to eat she doesn’t comment, although I do notice she cuts the dry edge off and avoids it. Well, whatever. At least we tried. After dinner, Bellamy and I head back up to his room. I’m weirdly tired for someone who basically did nothing all day. I spend a few minutes trying to meditate and think of Kiara, but I’m still too wired from realising we have similar marks. I can’t relax well enough to even get close to clearing my thoughts. I give up pretty fast, knowing that I’m wasting my time trying. My phone vibrates and I’m thrilled to have a reason to stop trying to relax.

COCK TALES

Megan- So Harry, any entertaining stories for us tonight?

Amber- He’s sulking I bet. She took tonight off.

Harry- IF YOU KNEW THAT WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME BEFORE I WENT THERE???

Amber- If you didn’t go there, I wouldn’t have had a vision of you going there and replaceing out

she isn’t there. I found out too late either way.

Ryann- Besides, you go there pretty much every night. It would be weird if you didn’t show just because she isn’t in.

Harry— Whatever

Megan- Why wasn’t she in? Did anyone tell you?

Harry- No one would tell me anything.

Ryann- That’s pretty standard. I wouldn’t tell some guy about my coworker’s life or schedule

either.

Megan- She’s probably sick or something.

Harry-… You think she’s sick?!

Megan- She could be?

Harry- I should check on her.

Amber- Wait for it…

Ryann- ???

Harry- DAMN IT I forgot that I don’t have her number… or address. She won’t tell me. I have

no way to contact her.

Megan- Oh

Ryann- Oh

Amber- Yup

Ryann- Sorry Harry, I’m sure she’s fine. Don’t worry too much.

After I’m done chatting with everyone, I curl up at Bellamy’s side. It takes a while for me to sleep since I’m so wound up, but Bellamy’s constant breathing and his hand stroking soothing lines over my back soon lulls me to sleep..
