Chapter 22

Sigmund knew very well that he couldn’t blame Becky for what had happened. But seeing her nonchalant demeanor only fueled his anger even more.

He had rushed over in a hurry, only to replace her sleeping peacefully at home.

If Becky hadn’t tagged along with Miles and got in the car in the had to go through all this trouble for nothing.

Then Sigmund flicked on the lights in the room.

first place, Sigmund wouldn’t have

It created a sudden burst of brightness. Becky, who had her eyes closed, instinctively furrowed her brow and took a moment before reluctantly opening her eyes.

Her gaze towards Sigmund grew colder.

She thought to herself, “What’s this man up to? Coming back so late at night and acting all crazy?”

“You knew exactly what the other person thought of you. And yet you still had to go out of your way to get in his car and sleep in his bed just to show off, didn’t you?” Sigmund’s tone was icy and his words were harsh..

Even though his original intention was to express concern but looking at–Becky’s indifferent eyes, his words seemed hurtful.

It was like a multitude of thin, sharp needles all piercing the delicate and vibrant rose in front of

him.

Becky couldn’t help but laugh at his words. She knew that Sigmund was something else, but she didn’t care much about it.

Then Becky said, “Mr. Moolery, let me make the current situation clear to you. I am not the same kind of person as you, who sleeps around with just anyone. If I were really inclined to do that, I would be in a hotel right now, not standing here listening to your insults.

“If you have nothing better to do, why don’t you spend more time managing the incompetent people in your company? Is it honorable for you to come back and criticize your ex–wife? In other words, even if I were to sleep with someone, as long as it’s not your bed I was climbing into, what does it have to do with you? Mind your own business. I want to sleep now. Please leave.”

After saying that, Becky didn’t give Sigmund any chance to respond. She laid down, switched off the light on the bedside table, pulled the covers over herself, and turned her back to him as she fell asleep.

The sudden darkness in the room only allowed Sigmund to barely make out the silhouette on the bed.

The resounding words of Becky still echoed in his ears. And a malicious glint appeared in his eyes. as he coldly chuckled.

Chapter 22

It was none of his business who Becky slept with.

But after sleeping with him for the Wood family, she was so quick to divorce him.

After a while, Becky heard the sound of the bedroom door being forcefully slammed shut. Then she closed her eyes once again.

Sigmund stormed out of Becky’s room, taking out his phone and making a call to Henry. He commanded in a deep voice, “Secily. NON

Secily was the name of the pub they often frequented.

Before long, a familiar figure appeared before Sigmund.

Brigham stood at the study doorway and strode over with an angry expression. He snatched the phone from Sigmund’s hand and hung up the call right in front of him.

“What a fine example you’re setting. Going out for drinks at this late hour?” Brigham scowled.

Sigmund furrowed his brow and asked, “Why aren’t you asleep?”

“Now get your ass to the study immediately!”

Brigham didn’t respond to Sigmund’s question. He lowered his voice, glanced towards Becky’s room, and finally gave a fierce glare to his wayward grandson.

Sigmund followed Brigham into the study, walking behind him.

Once Sigmund closed the door behind them, Brigham turned to look at him.

“Tell me honestly. What’s going on between you and Becky?” Brigham asked.

Brigham paused for a moment. And his gaze was sharp. “Were you both divorced? Just like that?”

Sigmund squinted his eyes, not expecting his grandfather to replace out about it so quickly.

“Did Becky tell you?” Sigmund asked.

Brigham snorted coldly. Then he said, “You only need to answer “Yes, or ‘No“,”

Brigham knew very well about Becky’s feelings for Sigmund. Otherwise, he wouldn’t een try to bring them together.

So the root of all this could be pointed to Sigmund..

Sigmund realized there was no point in hiding it anymore. Under his grandfather’s gaze, he spoke in a low and casual tone, “As you know, we did get divorced.”

This statement made Brigham’s voice rise. “Who agreed to it? Did I agree to the two of you getting divorced?”

Chapter 22

As he spoke, he slammed bis cane against the floor, creating a loud thud.

Fortunately, the study was far enough from Becky’s room. And the soundproofing worked, or else it might have woken her up.

The series of sounds was enough to prove that Brigham was currently in a fit of rage.

“I refuse to believe that after all these years, you have no feelings for Becky. You don’t like her at all?” Brigham asked.

Sigmund lowered his gaze, fiddling with a lighter he had in his pocket.

The cold look in Becky’s eyes flashed in his mind. Then he sneered and said, “You didn’t ask me when we got married. And now you are asking me if I like her. What’s the point?”

Brigham didn’t hear Sigmund denying it. So he thought there might be a chance for reconciliation between the two of them.

“What do you mean it’s pointless? Becky likes you so much. If you like her, why did you get divorced? You’ve been acting like a fool recently! If you weren’t my grandson and if it weren’t for Becky, I would break your legs! If you have feelings for her, you’d better treat her honestly from now on and ignore those crazy rumors,” Brigham said.

Hearing what Brigham said, Sigmund thought to himself, “Does Becky like me?”

Sigmund thought about how Becky had tried to please him for the sake of the Wood family’s project.

Was it genuine affection or just a means to an end?

The last time, for a major project, Becky even slept with him without hesitation.

Now, the Wood family’s business was thriving and Daley had returned. As soon as Sigmund mentioned divorce, Becky readily agreed.

She even reminded him repeatedly when Sigmund didn’t bring it up again.

Thinking about that, Sigmund’s eyes grew colder.

Under Brigham’s hopeful gaze, Sigmund spoke up slowly.

He said, “You’re mistaken. I never liked her. If it weren’t for your insistence, there would have been no chance of me marrying her two years ago.”
