"What?" Bella was shocked. He was so straightforward?

Bella blushed in embarrassment. Ada wished she hadn't asked. Why did she say that?

"Really? Bella, are you really dating? But you said you are just ordinary friends?" Ada was disgruntled, so she exposed Bella's hypocrisy. Ben's face darkened at "ordinary friend" and he put on an unhappy look.

Bella did not expect that. She was stunned for a second and then she explained with a smile, "We were indeed ordinary friends."

"What about now?" Ben asked her.

"We're still friends now." Bella pretended to not know his meaning and replied.

Ben gently pinched her leg under the table. Bella trembled as if electricity ran through her body. She looked at the man bashfully.

Only then did Ben feel satisfied and regain exposure.

Seeing them flirting with each other, Ada was so angry. She shouldn't have invited him to lunch.

"With such a good boyfriend, you shouldn't accept gifts from boys at school." Ada joked on purpose.

Bella stiffened and turned to look at Ben out of guilt. She winked at Ada, hoping that she would stop talking nonsense.

Ben looked upset. Was she popular in school? Were there lots of guys who sent her gifts?

"Ada, the dish is delicious. Taste it. Isn't this your favorite?" Bella quickly picked up fish and put it in her bowl, hoping that she could stop.

Ada wanted to sneer. Surely, she saw Bella's plead, but she ignored it on purpose.

After finishing the meal, they walked out of the restaurant. Ada was beside Ben, hoping that others could know she was close to him.

Bella was so shy that she kept some distance with Ben. She was side by side with Ada.

Passers-by were confused. It was impossible to figure out who was Ben's girlfriend. When they arrived at the company, Ben held Bella's hand and went straight into his private elevator. Ada forced a smile as she watched the door close. Her smile froze the next second and she put on a malicious look.

When the door was closed, Ben said something that shocked Bella.

"Don't be friends with her."

"Why?" Bella looked at him in astonishment. "Are you talking about Ada?"

Ben put on a meaningful look.

"What's wrong with her?" Bella didn't think so.

Ben knew that Bella wasn't pretending. She was very innocent, but she was not to blame. Bella was just to kind. She wouldn't think badly of other.

"Just stay away from her. Don't give her any chance to hurt you. Or you will understand how terrifying she is. You will regret it." Ben put it bluntly.

Bella frowned, "Ada didn't do anything bad to me."

"You are just unconscious of it. Just now, I already told her I'm your boyfriend. But she still said all those misleading things to sow discord between us. If she considered you as her friend, she should keep your secrets." Ben really didn't want to break her friendship, but he didn't want her to be hurt either.

Bella trembled. To be honest, she had some grumbles that Ada misled Ben just now.

"Probably she didn't mean it. She didn't have any ill intentions." Bella explained.

"How could she say that? I was also present. She simply wanted to play us against each other." Ben snorted. He knew it clearly.

Bella frowned and start to think about it seriously.

"She shouldn't have said it. If she does the same thing again, I'll stop her." Bella whispered.

"Next time? You want to give her a chance?" Ben sighed helplessly.

"I can't just blame her for triviality. I don't have many friends. We've been friends for a long time." Bella cherished her friendship, probably because she was the only child in her family. She had always yearned for company since she was little. Ada and Ivy were true friends to her.

"Alright, you can be friends with her. But just don't be dim-witted." Ben said gently when the door opened.

Bella pouted, "I'm not dim-witted."

Seeing her denying it, Ben laughed. If so, she would already be his girlfriend by now.

"President William, Miss Charles." Elle walked over and greeted them with a smile.

"Elle." Bella smiled embarrassedly.

"Send in some juice." Ben instructed, then brought Bella into his office.

As soon as Bella stepped in, she found the office very spacious. It was well-lit since it had glass windows on both sides. The dark desk and chair were of high-quality. There was a high-grade carpet on the floor. It was a luxury office.

"How is it? Do you like my office?" Ben asked when he saw her standing there in a daze, her eyes lit up. He knew she liked it.

"I like it." Bella seemed to be joyful.

"There's a chair over there. Have a seat." Ben pointed at the white desk and chair over the corner.

Bella eyes widened in surprise, "Did you buy it for me?"

"Yeah. Didn't you promise me that you would come over to help me after class?" Ben raised his eyebrows. "Yes, I did. But there's something I need to confess." Bella was still hesitant. But she had to tell the truth.

"What is it?" Ben became serious, worried that she would refuse him.

"My mother is coming back." Bella twisted her fingers, her eyes flashing.

Ben was stunned, "Is she coming back to take care of you?"

"No, it's because she heard that I'm dating you. My neighbor told her." Bella smiled bitterly.

"The lady we met that night?" Ben clenched his teeth. He didn't expect his hard-won relationship would be ruined by a stranger.

"Yes, she has been in touch with my mother." Bella nodded.

"When your mother is back, can't we meet?" Ben's gaze was fixated on her.
