I looked around my room and it seemed empty. I was all packed for my new school even though I still have a day before we travel to Pennsylvania which means I have just a day of regular high school. I grabbed my bag and went down to join my family at the dining table for breakfast.

" Morning." I greeted.

" Good morning honey." Mum replied placing a plate of chocolate waffles topped with whipped cream and fresh blueberries.

" How was your night sweetie?." Dad asked and I raised an eyebrow and began eating my delicious breakfast.

My parents have sucking up to me since the whole dinner incidence but hey, I'm not complaining.

" Hey." Austin greeted his eyes glued to his phone and I just rolled my eyes.

"It's your last day of regular high school."

" Yep, I think my classmates, no, the whole school will be happy to have finally gotten rid of the purple-eyed freak." I said.

" Iris!" Mum exclaimed while Dad and Austin chuckled.

" What?, I'm just saying the truth." I said and Mum just sighed.

" Okay kids, let's get going." Dad said as we finished our breakfast.

" Hey." Chris greeted and I just acknowledged him with a nod.

" We're sorry." Savannah said.

" We wanted to tell you, we really did but, your parents made us promise that we we wouldn't." Chris explained.

" How long have you known?" I asked them.

" About a month now we overheard our parents talking about it." Savannah said with pleading eyes.

" So you're leaving tomorrow?" Savannah asked and I nodded.

" Don't worry, we'll still be in touch since you're allowed to take your phone and laptop to school." Chris said smiling.

" Really?" I asked.

" Yeah, my brother goes there."

" Really?, I thought he went to a military school." I asked and she smiled sheepishly.

" He says the place is totally awesome that they have great food and a bunch of other stuff. He placed more emphasis on the food though so it must be really good." Savannah said as we walked to our first class which was English.

" They even have a mall and a cinema." She said.

" Wow, it must be a huge school." I said.

" It is." Chris and Savannah said simultaneously

Chris and Savannah helped me to clean my locker during lunch and by then, the whole school knew I was leaving.

" Hey freak, good riddance!" Someone hollered from across the hallway and I just rolled my eyes.

" Maybe she's going to a school for supernatural freaks." A girl said and the group laughed.

'They have no idea how true that statement was.' I thought to myself.

For the first time in my life, I was leaving my home town to a school that I just heard about a few days ago. My entire family and I were in a car driving to the school and I was nervous. We finally got to the school and I could not believe my eyes.

To say the school is huge is an understatement. It was the most breathtaking piece of architecture I had ever seen.

" Oh My God!" My brother exclaimed.

The school had a lot of towers and looked like a modern version of Hogwarts. I could see various students in the courtyard and also animals, lots of animals that were considered dangerous.

" Shape Shifters." My dad whispered into my ears and I nodded.

I became even more nervous and wiped my sweaty palms on my jeans.

We walked down the hall and I was even more impressed with what I saw inside than what was outside. The students were all dressed casually but it seemed uniform. Thankfully, no animals were roaming. We finally stopped in front of the main office and we sat down in the reception waiting to meet the principal.

When were finally called in but Austin decided to wait outside in the reception.

" You'll do great." He said squeezing my hands reassuringly and I hugged him.

" Dylan, Emma, it's so good to see you again." A man who I'm guessing is the principal, greeted my parents.

" Hello Travis." My mum greeted while my dad gave him a bro hug. A woman walked in through a door by the side of the office and hugged my mum.

" Emma!"

" Emily!"

" Dylan, it's so good to see you." She said hugging my dad.

" It's so good to see you too." Dad replied.

" And this must be Iris." She said pulling me into a hug.

" Hello!" I greeted awkwardly.

" Have a seat." Travis said and we all sat down.

" Hello Iris, I'm Travis and I am the head shifter and this is my wife Emily, she is the head elementist."

" So have you been in touch with your animal?" Travis asked and I shook my head.

" And how are you so sure that she's not an elementist?" Emily asked.

" Well, seeing as she comes from a long line of shifters, she's likely to be a shifter but she might also be an elementist.

" Have you ever felt attraction or resistance to a particular element?" Emily asked me and I shook my head barely even understanding what they were talking about.

" Well, there's no need to worry, I'm sure you'll replace where you belong after a few days or weeks in the school." Emily said and I smiled politely.

" I'm going to let you get settled in while your parents and I catch up. Sounds good?" Travis said and I nodded. He picked up his phone and called someone.

A few minutes later a tall girl walked in. She was about 5'9 and she had curly red hair and vivid green eyes with pale skin. In short, she was stunning.

" You wanted to see me sir?" She asked.

" Yes, I earlier informed you of the new student that will be joining you as your roommate. Well, she's here."

The girl's eyes widened when she saw my parents and her mouth fell ajar.

" Oh- you're- wh- uhm. Dy-ylan. Wow! You're Dylan and Emma, the two greatest shape shifting partners in the history of supernaturals." She gushed and I rolled my eyes.

" Yes Rose, they're amazing. Could you stop?"

" Sorry sir." She mumbled looking down at her feet.

" It's okay Travis, we're always happy to meet a fan. Nice to meet you." My mum said smiling at Rose.

" It is such an honour to meet you." Rose replied grinning.

" This is my daughter Iris."

Rose finally took her eyes off my parents to look at me and her eyes widened a little due to the colour of my eyes. I raised an eyebrow in return challenging her to say something.

" Hey!" She greeted.

" Hey." I replied.

" Rose could you please show Iris around, while I catch up with her parents?" Travis asked and Rose nodded in reply.

" Yes sir."

" Come on!" She beckoned and I followed her out of the room.

" Hey sis!" Austin greeted as we entered the reception. His eyes widened when he saw Rose and I chuckled.

" Rose this is my little brother Austin, Austin meet Rose she's my roommate."

" Nice to meet you and I'm not that little, I'm just two years younger." Austin said and Rose laughed showing off her pearly white teeth.

And I could literally see the hearts coming out of my brother's eyes.

" Well we should get going, Rose is taking me on a tour round the school." I said smirking at him.

" Can I come?" He asked excitedly.

" Maybe some other time." Rose replied smiling and Austin grinned.

" Okay."

We walked out of the reception into the hallway which thankfully, was now empty.

" I think you broke my little brother." I mused and she laughed.

" He'll be fine. The effects of my beauty will wear off soon." She said smiling cheekily and I grinned.

Something tells me we're gonna get along just fine.
